This is strictly for the rooftop bar at Vendue.

Not sure why everyone recommends coming here. Yeah, it's outdoor space which is GREAT; however there is no view. The music was eh, the wine was terrible, and the crowd kind of an odd mix.

    Meh.

We stopped here for a drink after dinner one night to check out the view. There was a line to get in, but it moved pretty fast. Looks like "the" place to be in Charleston - or at least "the" place for every bachelor and bachelorette party to start out downtown!

We were looking for something more laid back, but this was fine. The view was great and we got to catch the sunset. (try to sit in the upper deck, we were in the lower part and it wasn't as nice)

The elevator is sketch, I would take the stairs next time! Service was meh, our stuff came...but everything took a while.

I may go again, but just for the view - only if I couldn't find something better in the rooftop bar department!

This bar was inviting due to the rooftop patio/restaurant, but I'd say the overall experience wasn't that enjoyable. First of all, at night, you can't even see the harbor - it may as well be any other rooftop patio.

We had the wedge salad (which was very good), the pork sliders (also delicious) and some drinks that I thought were very yummy, but quite pricey.

The atmosphere seemed to be college students and young professionals with a bit of a snobby attitude. This may just be my experience, but that's what it seemed like to me. We went on a Monday night also.

I'd have to think hard to think of how to improve the experience.  Will be a 'go-to' spot when visiting going forward.

Pimento Cheese Spread - Holy Jesus.  If it's on the menu get it.  Hint: there are chopped olives involved

    Drinks - strong

    Service - On point

Ambiance - roof top, couldn't be better

Don't get the appeal of this place. I used to live in Charleston and sadly now just visit once every three months or so. During my visits, I'm always like heeey rooftop bar - yeah, great views, lets do this!! Who know, maybe leftover emotion from college when this place actually seemed glamorous?..... Then I go and I'm like oh right this place sucks. Congrats, Vendue Inn, you have a giant rooftop but that's it. Drinks are weak, atmosphere is pretty blah (frat dudes watching football, no thanks), and the worst part is that they only reserve stairs for emergencies. I'm no fire code expert but its super annoying to be trapped in your sucky bar for 15 extra minutes waiting on your elevator that can hold approximately 4 people. When my husband made a kind hearted joke about the stair/elevator conundrum, the bouncer/elevator bell boy reacted very aggressively and condescendingly. So, dude, congrats to you too for really taking your authority role by the horns and keeping us patrons in check! Vendue Inn is an awesome hotel and its just embarrassing that they have this place tied to their name ....

card people to get in? pounding club music when no one is in there at 9pm? freezing cold outside and no heat lamps? no thanks. and drinks were weak and served in plastic cups. steps all over with no lights.

Went to the rooftop bar, not the actual hotel. The bar was nice, pretty crowded and lively, and enclosed due to the cold weather. Drinks are on par with the rest of Charleston, in terms of price and flavor. I'd go back!

The Roof Top Bar Offers AMAZING views . I haven't seen anything yet that matches the 360 degree view. The drinks where just ok nothing to brag about and the service was a little slow. but Its the perfect location for an afternoon lunch with friends especially if you love the low country and the beautiful scenery.

The view made it worth while.  We sat down to try the cherry limeaide.  The wife, who normally doesn't drink, liked it so much she had three.  We got a couple of lobsters rolls and enjoyed the view.  Btw the bartenders were extra attentive and willing to listen and follow all of our extremely explicit instructions.

Went here for drinks,  the view is incredible.  The Cherry Lemonade was an incredibly refreshing drink.....Go here just to see the rest of Charleston.....

I had always enjoyed the drinks and view here, but made the mistake of ordering food on Monday. The REAL CRAB sushi roll was horrific. It tasted very fishy (maybe "Real Crab" is a trademark for fake crab that is made from stinky fish?), and the rice portion was so congealed (no separate rice grains were evident) that the consistency was more like the white of a boiled egg.  Disgusting. We sent it back and at least we're not charged. I will return for drinks only.

View is great. Bar staff were rude.

Such a great setting and such a disappointing experience.

Vendue has a great roof top area with great vistas overlooking Old Charleston. It has such potential, but I'll not return.

It is my 60th birthday weekend and my wife wanted to treat me to a fun restaurant that was a bit different than what we've experienced before. After an afternoon of window shopping and getting weary from the 90% humidity and 75 degree temp, we decided to have a late lunch on the Rooftop at Vendue.

I ordered a whisky sour and my wife ordered a wine spritzer with a twist. They were both served in plastic cups (what's with that)? My whisky sour had no cherry in it and was so diluted that it reminded me of the diluted Kool-Aid at Vacation Bible School. My wife's wine was served with ice cubes and the twist was when the server sat the glass on the table and twisted it!

She ordered a chicken salad sandwich and I ordered a Cuban wrap. They both arrived with no garnish, on a white plate with potato chips thrown on top that looked like an afterthought.

The chicken salad sandwich was passable, but my Cuban had no exotic pizzazz to it. It was just plain slices of lunch meat in a flour tortilla that was pressed in something similar to a pannini. The dilled pickle served on the side was the most disgusting dill I've ever tasted, it tasted like it had been pickled in brine and soap!

My sandwich was so bad that I didn't even want to take the remaining 2/3rds to go.

Two words, LOBSTER ROLLS. The best. So fresh to death, it's the best nuthin less. The view was nice, kinda wish the building was taller so I could see more of the city, it did give a good glimpse of the historic district, i think called the french quarter pretty well though. Also, place makes solid old school cocktails as well as new takes on old classics, I tried a few, favorite had to be the mint julep, whatever whiskey they used it was delish. Also, didn't know south carolina was so big into bourbon, makes some sense since Kentucky is a few states over, but this place had a nice selection of liquors that taste like something, aka not vodka.

I love patio and/or rooftop restaurants, so when I saw a sign for a restaurant CALLED Roof Top (with a sign boasting $4.00 Margaritas, to boot), I couldn't resist.

Although it is winter and the patio is technically closed, they were happy to let me sit outside, and even come out with perfect timing to check on me. (I was VERY impressed by the bartender/server's timing.)

The $4.00 margarita was far better than I expected for such a low price, and I followed it up with a lobster cocktail (only $10.00?!?), which also impressed me. Four large, completely intact claw muscles with several other large chunks, coated on a tasty mayo sauce. I liked it so much, I ordered a second!

I can't visit a rooftop patio and not talk about the view. Unless you're ON the waterfront, you will see AC units and have obscured views of the ocean from Charleston rooftops. That being understood, they've done a nice job setting up their rooftop patio, even including several sections with wicker furniture which are slightly separated from the bulk of the patio for either a small group or a romantic lunch or dinner. Nicely done!

Exactly what you want and expect in a rooftop bar: good view, relaxed vibe, reasonable prices, no attitude.  Requires a ride in a tiny elevator to get there, but isn't that part of the fun?  Try a Dark and Stormy.  Actually, try three of them.

Eat before coming - they were out of half of the things on their menu. Nice view and staff.

If you are in the historic district and would like a picturesque place to sit and enjoy an adult beverage, this place should be on your list.

I have never eaten here but I like to drop in for a drink or 2 before it gets dark so that I can take in the wonderful scenery. Cheers!

Rooftop bar with amazing views! The drink prices weren't bad and the food was also decent! A great place to start the night with drinks and food!

Amazing rooftop bar with great view of Charleston and the harbor.
Drink specials are inconsistent - either great value or NO alcohol depending on the bartender.  Food is very limited in choice.  But as a bar in Charleston it's tough to beat.

    Sitting on the roof.  Awesome.
    View of Charleston. Awesome.
    Food choices. Okay.
    Margaritas. Terrible.

We were there for Friday happy hour specials, where they had $4 margaritas.  They were terrible, absolutely no alcohol and small cups.  The crab dip was good, but I was hoping for more food choices.  Our waitress was good, always there to get us more drinks.  The view is amazing though, just make sure to get a beer while you're there.

2 words: Rooftop bar. Fantastic breeze blowing off the water, live music, drink specials. Very laid back!

Clausterphobes--beware! You have to ride an elevator to enter and exit this bar--and it is small. THERE ARE NO STAIRS available to the public. There is a line at night to get out and they pack the elevator full. Be conscious of this!

The food is not good.  It's nice to be on the roof when the weather is good but I would eat before coming here.

Never mind that you have to take the elevator up and down to this rooftop paradise--its two bars, extensive outdoor seating, and casual atmosphere will have you forgetting about the compulsory elevator riding in no time.  The view isn't as great as it could be because a local club obscured the ocean from sight from the main floor of this rooftop, but who cares?  On a warm, sunny day with a nice breeze, nothing is better than sitting on a rooftop with a beer in your hand and friends by your side.  Their bar food is decent (though I'm hesitant to try the sushi), and their beer selection is respectable.  Don't wait too long on a nice weekend to get in here, though, because it's so popular you might have a long wait.

Nothing spectacular, but it's a good place to go when you're looking for a chill night with some friends.  The rooftop deck is large and I've never had trouble grabing some seats and drinks at the bar.  I've never had a problem there, but it's never really the place that stuck out in my mind when I wanted to go out in dtown.

rooftop bar with great mojitoes. As others have said, the views are not spectacular, as every building in Charleston seems to be 3 or 4 stories. And the view of the harbor is partially obstructed. But the drinks were good and strong, the service friendly (but clueless). Had a nice session watching a container ship enter the harbor and slowly go past the the docks.

Breezy evening, quiet, dark... roof top bar?  Heck yes!

We ventured here after an awesome dinner and were glad we found this place.  We both had a few beers and enjoyed the ocean breeze and scenery.  It was pretty quiet for a Sunday evening. They have plenty of tables of various sizes to accomodate any party.  You go up to the roof top bar through an elevator and there you are.  You get waited on which is pretty convenient.  I would definately return here for a couple of brews.

Write something nice...the rooftop view is nice, it is large spread out over multiple decks, friendly waitress.

Experience during my visit on a Tues. night...loud adolescent rock music blasting, weak super diluted Firefly Vodka Tea drink, dark as the Bat Cave.

The vibe was college party bar.  The awful music was so loud, we almost had to shout to converse.

So this review is yet another bar I patronized on my recent in Charleston, SC.  Vendue Inn has a roof top bar...which I believe is either called Vendue or Roof Top bar?????? But I'm not sure which....I think the alcohol was kicking in by then.

This place had a line by 10pm and door men carefully monitoring folks coming and going.  The line of folks were a very diverse cross section of tourist......older couples on a weekend away, chicks all dressed in skin tight dresses and hooker heels and preppies abound.
Taking an elevator ride to the top floor, you'll get a chance to mingle with strangers who will strike up all kinds of conversation.

Once you are on the roof, the bulk of it is covered with a very large bar and a decent amount of seating.  Though it was at night I'd suggest getting your drink on during the day as the views should be amazing.
Lots of young people here and a big singles scene with a majority probably trust fund babies if the watches they were wearing is any indication.

Drinks at night?  Maybe...during the day, definitely.  A must see...........maybe.

I just moved here from Texas and this was one of the first places I went. I have never been during a weekend, but a few times during the week and I had a great time. It was relaxed with great music. Well, relaxed except for a table of loud, crude, drunk jerks that the staff never told to shut up. They were annoying everyone. Any way. The food is absolutely AMAZING!  Never been some where, where I like everything!

Love the Vendue!  Always a good view, relaxed atmosphere, and usually a chill acoustic duo or trio to provide entertainment. I have always received good service. Haven't tried too much if the food, but what I have  has been good. The Marketplace rooftop is fancier, but also more $$. I make sure to make a visit to the Vendue every time I visit Chucktown.

What more do you need than a roof deck bar, good music and hoards of good-looking people? Vendue Roof Top was the place to be on a recent Saturday night in Charleston. The line is out the door, but it's really just the wait for the elevator to take you up to the top.

I also stopped by this place on a Sunday afternoon, and it reminded me of The Coast Guard house in Narragansett, RI- laid back, east coasters enjoying the sunshine, some good live music and an afternoon beer.
