a friend and i wanted to have  a few drinks after a long day of work it was after 10 and we can only order from the bar menu, which its OK we decided to order a shrimp scampi pizza and calamari fritti it was delicious for drinks we had peartinni it was a little strong but really good.... the only thing i was a little upset was the bartender not a smile on her face, took a long time to give us the menu and didn';t even offer a glass of water...i had to ask her for it the first time...did not check on us offen enough.
i will definetly come back its close to my house and the environment is great...
I have eaten at this new restaurant in Revere several times in the past month, and everything is AMAZING! Â The food is creative, flavorful, and creative. Â The chef even came over to our table to be sure everything was to our liking! Â The service is also outstanding! Â We have had Paul wait on us several times. Â He is knowledgable, attentive and friendly! Â The drinks are great, and the bar scene is energetic and fun? Â I am so glad to have a restaurant of this caliber in Revere, it means not having to drive to Boston to get a great meal!
Oh and by the way, the managers are accommodating and welcome you like it is their own home! Â A plus
There is no doubt that this place is 5 stars for Revere and is probably the sharpest looking restaurant I've been to in the city. The interior of this place is really well  designed. They even have free valet! This will be a glowing 3 star review.
Service was good but with some hiccups. The most memorable moment was when I had spilled some risotto on the table, instead of cleaning it up or ignoring me she practically mocked me and left it there. Looking back it's kind of funny, but still...
Warm bread - Great warm bread and amazing pesto olive oil dip
Arancini Rice Balls - This appetizer was amazing. It is a must get item, it actually got us really excited for the rest of the meal.
Frutti di Mare Vesuvio - Typical Italian seafood pasta dish, I thought this dish was also lacking flavor as well.
Merluzzo in Crosta - The pistachio crusted haddock, with the exception of the crunchy chopped nuts, was pretty bland. The lemon sauce was too subtle as well. I did really like the side of risotto though
Being a girl from Revere myself, I love to find good local restaurants. I've been to Volare 2x both times our meals were plentiful, hot and delicious. The only thing I would complain about is there is a lack of any vegetarian or special dietary items. When I asked the waiter if there were any options, he just said flat out "no". Didn't say let me ask the chef what we can do for you.
I made the most of it and ordered a few appetizers not eating the meat or pasta, but would love to see some roasted veggies over polenta, or a ratatouie (sp).
The arugula salad with strawberries and nuts was amazing. The polenta with broccolini was to die for the the potatoe croquet - OMG!
I had friends that had the chicken parm and they said it was the best they ever ate in a restaurant.
So kudos, but please please add some specialty items for those of us that are on special diets!
Still waiting for bread that never came. Oh, also, mussels appetizers must still be in the ocean somewhere.
First off, must say I love the restaurant decor and feel. Very nice and upscale for Revere. Unfortunately everything else about the night was a bit of a disappointment.
We had many waiters serving our table of four but only two were efficient and acceptable. The Bread Guy, no names were given so I will have to call him thus, reminded me of Dory from Finding Nemo. I know I am being so mean but he is really forgetful. He's super nice but had that clueless look. When he came to clear our bread basket, he asked if we wanted more bread and we said yes. 15 minutes later, after our first appetizer came out and was ready to clear, we reminded him of the bread and he said he would get it. After our four entrees came out, still no bread. I guess we will never get the extra bread. It was good though. Dipping oil was not flavorful at all. Just your EVOO. But still very good bread. Can you tell I am really bummed out that we never got this second basket of bread?
The worst waitress though was a short, dark skinned girl who came to clear our calamari plate and asked us if we were finished and when my husband said he is still working on it and she gave us this annoyed look as if we were in her way of doing her job of collecting plates. Oh my goodness. She went back to the waiter/waitress station and crossed her arms and not once did I see a smile across her face the whole time I was sitting facing her and while she cleared and serviced other tables. As for the dish itself, the Calamari Fritti, which in the description read fried calamari, hot cherry peppers, aioli, spicy tomato sauce, was a very good appetizer. It was crispy and delicious. I wish they hadn't fried the hot cherry peppers because it would look much more appealing with the red cherry peppers not breaded and deep fried together with the calamari which made the plate all one color, minus the two sauces, a red marinara and a white tar tar.
Cozze Pazze - Mussels Fra Diavolo sauce or white wine sauce, garlic crusty bread. This was the second appetizer that never came. After 15 minutes of waiting for the second appetizer, and seeing that our entrees came instead about another 10 minutes later, I am glad I didn't ask for it because the mussel in my sister-in-law's dish, and she's pregnant too, was not fresh. Half dead and funny tasting, and half tiny and flavorless like the rest of the seafood in the Frutti di Mare Vesuvio. Brother described it as boiled scallop and shrimp that did not have any flavors, did not soak up the sauce. The male waiter who never brought the bread warned us that the red sauce which we picked for the dish over the white sauce was spicy. The dish was anything but spicy. Instead, he should have warned us that the sauce was strangely on the sour side. Sour, and not acidic. Sour in a strange maybe it's the canned tomato sauce sour kind of way. Not sure but brother and sister-in-law was overall very disappointed with the Frutti di Mare Vesuvio. Did not finish nor wanted to take left over home.
My brother ordered the Agnolotti con Zucca - Butternut squash agnolotti tossed with sage brown butter, toasted pistachios and Parmigiano cheese. It was not what he had expected. I tried some, thought it was sweet and had a creamy cheesy sauce to it. But for a dinner entree, it's not very filling. Feel bad for the big guy. He should have ordered something with meat in it. Â
Husband had the Bistecca Tips - 12 oz of grilled flap steak with BBQ glaze, roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. He said the steak was okay. I thought it was pretty good. But I am pregnant and for some reason, almost everything tasted better than usual. But he knows his steaks. I cannot disagree since I don't know how to properly cook a steak as he does.
For myself, I ordered the Gnocchi Sorrentina - Homemade potato gnocchi, plum tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and basil pesto. Now this is the first time I had gnocchi and I do not have much experience none-the-less credit for critiquing such a dish but I actually liked it. Husband and brother did too. Who knew potato could.
Overall, meal came to $90 and tip another $14. Wicked expensive and if it wasn't for the Groupon we had that saved us $25 dollars off of the meal, I would have walked away very hungry and and even more disappointed than just a bit disappointed. I was hoping I could avoid waiting the long lines of Rino's in East Boston and someone on Yelp said they saw the owner of Off the Boat here? Both husband and I agreed that the food at Off the Boat in East Boston is much better and less pricey. Rino's however still takes the trophy in terms of closest Italian restaurant to home without me having to go into Little Italy where there is absolutely little to no parking.
I would like to give this place another shot. Have yet to try the pizzas and desserts. Maybe I will buy a $15 Groupon this time around.
This was my third time eating at Volare, and the previous 2 were really good. Â However, this time was a disappointment. Â Me and hubby arrived just after 6, and were told there was a 10 minute wait. Â Not bad at all. Â When we were finally seated, we were told there was a party that was supposed to have finished up by 5, but stayed until about 6:30. Â The staff was all apologies. Â We were served our drinks, told the specials, and a waitress brought over bread with dipping oil. Â Then the long wait began to take our orders. Â It seemed like the staff had to play catch up due to the previous party staying longer then they were told. Totally unacceptable! Â My husband wanted to walk out, and we probably should have, but ending up staying. Â The food was good, not as good as our other visits, but we will go back, but not for quite a while.
Review Source:As of today, there is a YELP tag that says this restaurant is CLOSED, which is incorrect. We ate here a couple of months ago and had a good experience. We made a meal of appetizers and salad and found the food, and our waiter's service, to be better than at other local restaurants. I thought the shrimp with cannellini beans was very good as was the baked eggplant appetizer. We also had the baby arugula salad, calamari, and a side of rabe.
Review Source:I'm sad to write that I got food poisoning on my first visit to Volare. I had ordered the lobster ravioli and was sick for the next several days. I went as far as to call the restaurant to tell them of the incident. Â My case was the only one reported. Â So perhaps it was just an isolated incident but I doubt I will ever eat there again.
Other than that, the place itself has potential. Â Large full bar & lively atmosphere.
Always on the search for good, authentic Italian...I think I have it right in my own back yard! I have driven by Volare numerous times and shrugged it off until last night. My thought is that there is no where but Boston for the good stuff...I was completely WRONG. Suffice it to say, I had one of the better meals I have had in quite a while. Very good atmosphere and a fine bar and wait staff. The complimentary valet is a great thing too! I am psyched:)
Review Source:Volare in Revere is right down the street from where I live in Chelsea. When we went in last night, there was a feeling that we were in one of the hipper borroughs of NYC, but Revere is its own thing. Such a vibrant and eclectic energy of personae, ambiance...can't tell whether it's a throwback or contemporary - the best scenario is that it is both. At any rate, the food is ---whoooooah OUTSTANDING. Shrimp with lemon, perfectly "al dente" pasta, a "Volare" green salad for two....been a long time since I've had such sweet and immediately detectably fresh shrimp. The waitress was Adrienne, and, if there's a "perfect" waitperson - the balance of sales-oriented and truly personable - that's her. She deserved the generous tip we gave her...obviously interested in helping us increase the bill, but in such a way that we WANTED to get dessert [got cannoli w/chocolate bits, slight not obnoxious lemon tinge. TWO come with the order], in the way she used her power of suggestion, and how she gave us a little insight into the clientele - like she was writing her own short story to share with us, as first-timers, in her element ....Such a fun experience. It's worth a trip from L.A., ha, ha....to come to "Volare". Not cheap, but worth everything we experienced. The high top was right next to the window, and that energy only Revere knows was whizzing by us as we soaked in the whole "Volare" thang...can't say enough. GO, GO - and we hope you have the adventure we had.
Review Source:Looking for authentic Italian a little closer to home and easier to get to than your favorite North End spot? Check this place out, kids. We had a Girls' Night here over the weekend, just 4 of us, and couldn't have had a better experience. Very friendly host staff, followed by knowledgeable and efficient waitstaff with great food and drink recs.. let's just say we were very satisfied. My lobster risotto special, made with strawberries for an interesting combo, was rich and delicious, and there was a traditional chicken piccata, but I think the star was my friend's pork roast special, served with lovely mashed and a marsala. Yumma. I did try my other friend's homemade butternut squash ravs, which were good, but not exactly like the dish in Mantua that lives on in my dreams.. and I think I prefer a simpler prep with a sage-y olive oil than rich Alfredo-y cream. Salads were big and good. The desserts were to die for. We saw the kitchen for ourselves, too, on a quick tour with the super cool owner, Chris, to meet Chef Salvo, the rock star of this joint, and it is gorgeous!
I will be dragging all my friends and fam here for a night out at our own Little Italy spot on the North Shore.
This restaurant has a lot to like. From the energetic vibe to the valet parking to the wonderful food. Revere was in need of a local restaurant that stacks up to the North End without the parking hassles and extreme prices. Volare fits the bill. They have a talented chef who takes obvious pride in his food. There is an extensive cocktail menu and a small but interesting wine list. The menu leans heavily towards traditional Italian favorites but the quality and flavor of the dishes is exceptional. I have dined here on multiple occasions and the food has been excellent and consistent every time. I particularly like the risotto dishes as well as the salmon and pistachio crusted haddock. I recommend dining during a weeknight as weekends can be crowded and service can be a bit slow. I can honestly say that I like this restaurant just as much as my favorite North End restaurants.
Review Source:I was there with 3 friends. excellent food and service. Complimentary valet parking. A little noisy and crowded meaning people enjoy this place. Chef and manager both came to table to ask if we were pleased. My 3 friends and I both had different dishes ,veal parm and pasta bolognese, ossa bucco and veal piccata. All good portions ,plenty to  take home. Prices reasonable.,they also had a good bar crowd, good looking people sitting at the bar, very cute staff and bartender, good time by all, will be back soon.
Review Source:Chef Salvo does it again, his food is always excellent! Â The menu is unique and flavorful! Â
I had the Salsiccia e Friarielli for an appetizer, it was delish. Â I ordered the special beef tenderloin with polenta-I had enough to take some home.
Service was great, even though they were very busy for a Friday night, we didn't wait long for a table at all.
This restaurant is around the corner from my house-can't get better than that!
Excellent food and service. Complimentary valet parking. Quite noisy and crowded meaning people enjoy this place. Chef and manager both came to table to ask if we were pleased. Spilled glass of wine when a patron nudged me and wait staff promptly refilled glass. Would def. return.
Wife and I both had veal parm and pasta bolognese. Others at table had ossa bucco and veal piccata. All heavy portions needing take home. Prices reasonable.
I have been to Volare several times in the past few months and every time it has been excellent. I was raised in an Italian household and it's not very often that I give an Italian joint a good review because rarely does it live up to my mother's cooking. Volare's sauce passed my test.
The atmosphere is lovely and very clean. I was there last night and commented on how beautiful the white lights wrapped around the exposed piping above the bar are. Love them. Speaking of the bar, it has been packed every single time I've been/driven by there. Drink prices are very reasonable and the appetizers are delicious. Try the Red Sangria. It was perfect. I also highly recommend the antipasto. Not only is the presentation beautiful, it too is done to perfection. The mozzarella is so fresh. I had the opportunity to taste the tenderloin stew with polenta served over mashed potatoes. The tenderloin was most excellent.
Last night I saw the owners of D'Amelios Off the Boat in East Boston in there. Off the Boat is one of my favorites and I'm not surprised that they have a connection. I should have known by the perfect Sangria.
Service has always been very warm and friendly.
It's an awesome addition to the City. I give it 4 stars. Try it.
Atmosphere is great and food is even better. The place has an at home felling. Waitstaff and bartenders are very acommodating. The Management makes you feel like a million dollars and treats everyone like family. Always remember what I drink and always seats us right away. Cant wait to go back and eat some of the awesome food again.
Review Source:With a bunch of friends in town for Thanksgiving, some of whom having flown in from around the country, we were a large party looking for somewhere local that offered good food and could accommodate a large party. Â A few of us had already eaten here and they suggested Volare.
The prices are a bit up there - by Revere standards.  The pizza, though good, is a little cheaper than some of the more costlier menu items you would expect to pay more for in a more upmarket restaurant in Boston  - I opted for the veal osso bucco with the gremolata served over saffrom risotto.  A friend of mine ordered the same thing.  She was mixed on hers - she said it was rubbery.  For me, who makes osso bucco all the time, I thought it was cooked just long enough to still remain tender with the meat literally falling off the bone (I didn't need a knife). Â
Our waitress was very good. Â She constantly kept the rounds coming and remembered what everyone was drinking. Â One member of the party didn't eat so the waitress put her booze on a seperate tab without having to be asked.
From what I understand this restaurant is fairly new. Â I'm sure there's some kinks that still need to be ironed out - I didn't notice any. Â It's a good addition to the area when offering a different kind of dining option. Â Give it a try.
