As far as China buffets go, this is the best in Indianapolis (in my humble opinion). The food is homemade, and they have plenty of authentic dishes.  My favorite aspect of this restaurant is their Mongolian grill and the sushi.  They provide a very healthy alternative to most other buffets.  Of course, they have many other, more fattening options.  Their General Tso's Chicken is the best I have ever had.  I also have to say that the staff is great.  They are quick on the drink refills and get to know their regular customers.

This review is actually for the New Taste Buffet across the street. I had WTT once and was unimpressed. I also had an International Buffet at 465E and Washington where all the employees wore WTT aprons and it was just as bad. The New Taste is ok. The sushi is really good. I would almost rather have it than the high priced stuff I get out random Japanese joints. I mean the philly and Alaska rolls at new taste match these places. Tuna and cream cheese and salmon and cream cheese respective. The other food there is pretty mediocre. The sizzling chicken and broccoli from the chicken and broccoli are nearly the only thing I will eat. Crab Rangoon is ok. Fried rice is standard. They did add self serve ice cream in several flavors. Step up from the twist cone machine. I go here regularly but wish the majority of stuff there was better.

I should've waited until everything opened at 11, but I was hungry so wandered back in here. It was 10:30 & only half the steamtables were filled. The greeter seemed confused that we were there, but the doors were unlocked & the neon sign said open. This place has gone even further downhill. Food was barely warm even though they had just opened & there were only a couple things for vegetarians to eat, one of them being salad. I'm not going to buffets for salad. Half the food is fried. The lo mein & Mongolian grill are tasteless. The grill noodles have a slight sweetness to them, but that's about it. There's a very small selection of things to grill & no ginger, garlic, choices of sauces, etc. Really substandard. When I asked if they had any veggie sushi, I was informed it was all crab. Most of the sushi was that ground up crab stuff that looks like ham salad & the rest was salmon or tuna. I couldn't tell. Apparently the workers didn't even know what they were making and serving.

Came here to try the sushi & left delightfully stuffed with way more than that!  We will definitely return. The staff was friendly and quick, the prices reasonable and, as implied earlier, the selection of food will satisfy about any palate.
    Go!  Try it!

We've been to this restaurant 4 times now and have finally given up.

The first time we went the food was mediocre but the service was excellent. The second time we went the food was fresh and the service was good.

The last two times we have gone the food was cold on the buffet, the service was nonexistent and the place had a dirty used look you wouldn't expect from a business that is merely 6 months old or so.
If you absolutely have to get food from a Chinese buffet and you find yourself in the parking lot, you should turn around and look elsewhere.

This used to be the Old Country Buffet. They even have the same buffet tables. And they've added a Mongolian-style grill, where you build your own dish and they cook it for you.

This is nice, and is what a Chinese buffet should be. But it's not so great that it's worth going out of your way for. There are two other buffets in competition (but I haven't been to them recently): New Taste (just across 38th street and down a block), and World Buffet (down the street near Moller Rd).

These kinds of places wax and wane in quality, so I can't say which of the three is currently the best. But if you're already cruising down W 38th street looking for a quality Chinese buffet, this will fill the bill nicely.

The buffet food is varied, has seafood, and nicely upscale.  You can do take-out based on weight of food.  They also have $4.25 lunch special entrees (not buffet.)

All the food items were labeled.

Salad station: Hardboiled eggs, canned mandarin slices, tapioca pudding, chocolate pudding, kimchee, chinese white carrots, two kinds of seafood salad, iceburg lettuce, raisins, sunflower seeds, cold shrimp, 2 kinds of olives, bananas in red sauce, cheesecake, flan, orange and green jello, "tan chai koh" (a dessert).

Next station: Chicken on a stick, fried frog legs, sweet donuts, egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried chicken, sesame balls, sweet and sour chicken, fried potatoes. Won ton soup, chicken noodle soup, egg drop soup.

Next station: White rice, fried rice, fried shrimp, fried shrimp ball, fried lo mein, sea food pasta, cheesey crab meat, barbecued beef, smoked ham, beef chop, steamed tilapia, veg pizza.

Next station: Steamed "Kue Hua" fish, buttered fried blue crab, black pepper chicken, buttered mushrooms, pan fried dumplings, General Tso's Chicken, pepper beef, seafood combo, chicken with broccoli honey chicken house special beef, steamed crawfish, crab legs, several kinds of oysters.

Next station: Several kinds of sushi, bacon, mashed potatoes, gravy, macaroni and cheese, smoked turkey, roast beef. Build-your own mongolian grill, with chicken, beef, seafood, veggies.

Next station: Cantelope chunks, honeydew melon, orange slices, fresh strawberries, fresh kiwi slices, chocolate fountain, apple pie.

Next station: 3 kinds of cake (cut into those 1" squares), 2 kinds of pastries.

Also: 6 different kinds of hand-dip ice cream (very good).

The sushi was well made by someone who knows how to do it, but it was not kept under film, and it dried a little, so it's definitely "buffet sushi".

I was there for an early dinner so all the food was fresh.

Decor is nice. It reminds me of Star Walk Buffet out in Avon.

Service was good. Waitresses are quick to refill your drink and clear plates. Waitresses were young, late teens or early 20's. My waitress didn't have good English skills (other than getting my soft drink order), but the hostess helped her out. Papa-san is a long time US resident, fluent in English of course, but also speaks Mandarin and pretty good Spanish. He bantered equally with the Spanish-speaking clientele.

Apparently, he used to be a co-owner of World Buffet, but I think I've also seen him at Star Walk in Avon.

Prices: $5.78 for lunch, $8.98 for dunner. $8.98 all day on Sundays and Holidays. Kids 3-4: $1.98 lunch, and $2.98 dinner and Sundays/Holidays. Kids 5-10: $3.98 lunch, and $5.98 dinner and Sundays/Holidays. Soft Drink: $1.25 (with unlimited refills).

    Hours:
    Sun - Thur: 11am to 10 pm.
    Fri & Sat: 11am to 10:30 pm.
