I'm a fan of the Wave Bar.
Sure, the drink prices are quite high, and the drinks are not exactly the most powerful, but it's a tourist town, so what can you expect? Â It's not like I'm going to be spending 1/3 of my paycheck here every weekend.
I admit I've fallen into my fair share of tourist traps over the years (places that like to rip-off visitors and don't care about treating guests well because they'll never see them again regardless), but this is one I love to come back to over and over. Â Why? Â Not because I'm a masochist. Â It's just because it's so darned fun and free-spirited! Â Where else can you sit outside by the pool while watching a drag queen host karaoke events? Â It will be the time of your life if you just let go a little!
I've been here every summer since 2008 and I'll keep coming back every time I visit Provincetown. Â
It's clean, there's plenty of seating, and the servers are generally friendly and polite, but disengaged (as is the standard of service in New England). Â
I did drag queen karaoke for the first time ever in August 2008, when I sang "Oops... I did it again" by Britney Spears, and "We Built this City" by Jefferson Starship. Â It made me realize how fun and free-spirited drag queens are! Â You won't experience a such an open-minded and fun-loving atmosphere anywhere else in America. Â Everyone is equally welcome regardless of sexual orientation, as long as you are tolerant and respectful. Â (Why anyone who was opposed to homosexuality would hang out in Provincetown baffles me anyway).
POOL!!!!!!!!!
The server/bartender was friendly, but he was not attentive for our table at all. While I was there he didn't come over once, but rather spent his time for those on the lounge chairs or at the bar itself. Us ladies (maybe that was the issue) under the umbrella wanted some service too!
The pool looked so inviting though, I wanted to strip down to my bra and undies and jump right in, but thought that would be inappropriate... maybe next time I'll drink more and then I'll think it's a grand idea.
I love the Wave Bar. We make it a point to go there each time we're in P-Town. The bartenders are friendly, the music is generally awesome, and the crowd is fun and energetic. We were taught how to properly walk the catwalk one night, while RuPaul blared on the screens and from the speakers. It was, needless to say, awesome.
Review Source:Love the Karaoke on Wednesday night during bear week. Â It seems the Town talent comes out as there are not many shows mid-week. Â So its NOT just a bunch of drunk 18 year olds who could not possibly carry a tune (even if they WERE sober!) It's a nice time...a CROWDED with hot men nice time. Â Then you can venture outside at night overlooking the harbor where you can catch your breath and a breeze before going back to the men...an Oh, Karaoke...
Review Source:One of my favorite places in Provincetown.... It is a video bar to rival Club Cafe... there is an inside bar with a HUGE video screen, and then you can venture out to the patio on the beach, which features a pool that is lit at night...
Good drinks, hot men,.... great view
