My wife is a South-sider and I'm a North-sider. So when she said we were getting married on the South Side, we knew we'd have to pick a place on the North Side for our reception. My family has been going to the White Eagle for years and we love the place. Whether you dine in the restaurant or are attending an event in one of the many banquet rooms, The White Eagle's menu never disappoints. We were able to book a 300 person Premium Wedding Package with full bar for a phenomenal price. The service was great, the owners-the Przybylo family-willing to bend over backward to make our reception everything we wanted or dreamed of. Every detail from the flowers to the table linens to the timing and coordination went off without a hitch. You could tell they love what they do-they're true professionals! Everyone went away happy-saying it was the best Polish food, even the best WEDDING food, they'd ever had!

I loved the Perogies & Kolaczk'si. Everything else including the ancient clientele, servers & decor need some upkeep. I know I'm breaking some kind of rule because it's an old school Chicago Polish dining main stay but this place NEEDS a new face & faces. I'd go back again just for the Perogies & Kolaczki's so that says a lot. Come on White Eagle throw your loyal legions a bone & update the seasonings on the sides & the walls/carpets. I'd go back if you did.

Wish I took some photos of the holiday decor but somehow I didn't.

I say boo to the people that are down on the look and feel of the place - it's called character and the sort that has charm unique to itself.

The servers were friendly and capable and mostly Polish.

The food wasn't all that great, but there were a few standouts:  barley mushroom soup by far the best, mashed potatoes, coleslaw (no mayo) and bread.

The Filberts were so-so. You know, Filberts ... (see photo).
