I really enjoy Loft, mainly because of the specials. It's always nice to find a place where you can get dressed up and have a "classy" night out without dropping a ton of money.
On Mondays, SIN gets 50% off their entire bill. That's hands down the best SIN deal in the city. Beyond that, there is a bottomless champagne night, half off bottles night, and $10 select bottles night. Basically, when it's not Friday or Saturday, you can easily drink on the cheap.
I'm also a huge sucker for cocktail service. It's always a pleasant surprise when a waitress approaches you for a drink right as you were going to get up and get your own.
I've heard rumors about whether or not this place is going to last, and it makes me sad to know there's a chance it might not.
The baked Brie is awesome! The music is great and the wine options are good! I also really like the "one man band" they have on Fridays now!- I wrote the first part of this review before the new management took over. i think the last time i went the new management had only been there for like 3 days and it showed. The lights were too bright and it was freezing, but it still has the "old" bar tenders and music, i hope they kept the one man band that they used to have because he was good!
Review Source:I've been to the Wine Loft 3 times, and have always had a great time! I love the location, the atmosphere, and the selection of wine and cocktails. However, I do wish there was more vegetarian food or more of a variety of appetizers in general. Crudités would be very much appreciated along with the yummy cheese. My only criticism is that the servers are not knowledgeable about the wine/liquor or about specials for the night. They are also not very attentive or friendly. I will continue to visit Wine Loft, though! $10 bottles on Thursdays are great!
Review Source:This place wasn't my fave when it was The Wine Loft. Now that it's just The Loft, my attitude hasn't changed much. Â Spotty service. But once you finally have their attention, they're pretty nice. Wine selection isn't too bad... 2 or 3 bangarangs. Major complaint: continuously turn the music up incredibly loud when they want people to close out at the end of the night.
Redeeming quality: Â Tuesday is half price wine night on all bottles under $100.
Not bad! Please try the baked brie here. It's very, very good.
My favorite wine is Riesling and they don't have a great selection of this wine but that's okay. Pinot Grigio is good too. I'm new to the area and this is one of my preferred places to relax and have a drink. I wish they would lower the volume on the music a little so I didn't have to scream to the person next to me so much. Other than that, great place.
I randomly wandered into the Wine Loft on a Monday night. Â I was in search of a light, late dinner, a drink or two, and a cozy place to read my book. Â The Wine Loft delivered all of these in spades.
The decor of this location is dim and intimate, including both a long bar with leather chairs and also a number of plush alcove-style couch arrangements. Â Though it is, in general, a bit too dark for curling up with a book, I managed to find a corner couch that was well lit by a street-light outside the window, so I was all set on the "cozy place to read" requirement.
Though the food menu is limited, the selections all looked delicious. Â I ended up settling on the beef kabobs. Â They were spectacular; well seasoned, spicy, juicy - just perfect. Â They made an ideal small dinner.
And then the drinking. It turns out that Monday is "free bottomless champagne for ladies" night. Â I'm not a huge fan of gender-specific specials, but that didn't keep me from taking advantage (albeit a little sheepishly). Â The bubbly was quite nice! Â The beef was so hearty and spicy that it really called for a red, so I also ordered a malbec. Â This was served up promptly in an excellent glass and was just what I needed with the meat.
To top it all off, the service was friendly and fast. Â I don't know that I'd want to fight a crowd here on a busy weekend, but this was a great spot for an intimate Monday-evening outing.
I do have to note that their cocktail list is a bit of a joke. Â For a place that tries so hard to be classy, it could stand to have a less vodka-centric cocktail list. Â Points for trying by including an Old Fashioned, but their bartenders should research the Healing Powers of Gin. Â A small gripe, but worth noting.
Minglefests of the Yuppy kind can be found at this lovely lounge just inside Perkins Rowe. Â Though the Wine Loft downtown is a lot bigger and visibly more popular, this slightly condensed version isn't so watered down. Â It sports a large outdoor patio, comfy indoor chairs in an intimate ambiance, and some pretty decent happy hour deals.
I came here for their decent Happy Hour special on Thursday nights in which bottles are half off. Â Prices are not completely ridiculous, but of course the price of wine fluctuates too dramatically to really be able to gauge. Â The quality of my Willamette Red was quite good but what really made the night was the crowd. Â Mixed crowds made for a nice environment andAnd though it eventually got a little too crowded, the ambiance was nice while it lasted.
Bartenders and the door staff was very nice. Â Like all of the other Wine Lofts in the nation, there was no cover provided, though I have a feeling this will be a semi-frequent stop during my next Baton Rouge visit.
