Buyer beware!
We bought a gift certificate for a wine tasting for 4 people from the Claremont location. Â Cost was $125. Â 4 weeks later, they were out of business and we were stuck with the useless certificate. Â We contacted the local stores and corporate headquarters. No one would help us.
I understand that each store is a franchise. However, unlike many franchises that would honor such a thing, no one associated with Sine Styles would.
This place is okay... Expensive and I've never had a great wine here. Everything is just okay. But its fun to go here and then walk over to dinner at one of the restaurants in the same shopping center.
They also have deals - like if you bring a bottle of wine from Wine Styles to one of the restaurants like Zov's then there is no corkage fee, or something like that. Whatever it is, it sounded good.
This place is kind of small, also. Gets a little crowded but its mostly older couples and they are very polite - both the wait staff as well as the customers.
I really liked this place!
A friend of mine won a wine tasting for two, so we went and collected this past Saturday night.
You get three whites and three reds. Â I have been wine tasting a couple of times in the past and the majority of the wines I dont love. Â I actually really liked every wine I tasted here. Â Two were from Chile, One was from France, One was from Italy... I dont remember the names, at all though ;)
The husband and wife team are very friendly. Â The shop in front of the wine room is awesome too. Â They had a lot of things I would have LOVED to buy. Â We are planning on going back next weekend - and I plan to buy some wine as holidays gifts. Â They have a deal 6 bottles for $60. Â We will do the wine tasting again next weekend probably. Â Another reviewer mentioned how it was done... He would come up, pour the wine, explain it briefly and then leave you to taste it, etc. Â It was very nice, no pressure, etc.
Jerry - the Guitarist who plays and sings on Saturday nights is awesome as well. Â It was a very nice addition, very soothing and relaxing. Â Im pretty much in love with this little place.
I think it could get crowded fast, as I believe there are only about 5 tables and 4 barstools... the tables look like they may be uncomfortable for the taller guest... but we sat at the bar so I cant be sure.
Looking forward to going back, and again in the future whenever I need fun wine gifts!
Nice selection of wine for sale. Â A little pricy. Â The tasting was average at best. Â For some reason they say they are booked when I called with one to two days notice, however, it really wasn't busy when we showed up. Â The service was average. Â Cheese plate was fairly uninteresting and overpriced. Â The wines were average. Â They had a decent selection of wines for sale up front.
Review Source:Quaint, cozy and the owners are very kind. Â Very relaxed environment...great place to enjoy a glass or two of wine and chat with company. Â They have live music on the certain days( i think the weekends) and sometimes the music is enjoyable....and sometimes not...but i can appreciate it either way....a lot better than blaring speakers! Â They also have a small menu with appetizers, which is nice!
Review Source:Don't go anywhere near this place or even call them. Â I had a Groupon and when I tried to use it the owner always said they were booked solid.
Finally when it did expire she told me I could not use it for the cash value either. Â So I had to contact Groupon to get the credit back.
Wine Syles if you don't want new customers then don't sign-up for Groupon and Living Social. Â If you want your business to fail keep being rude to potential customers.
I usually become a frequent customer of good places I find through Groupon, and take friends and family. Â Oh well.
We bought a deal from Living Social and utilized it last Friday night. Â I knew what wine was and I knew I wanted to know more about wine and why I like/dislike certain types of wine. Â I got all that and much more!
Our reservation was for 8:00 and the group of four of us arrived promptly and we sat at a corner table behind the shop area--in the wine bar.
We presented our coupon and our host/wine encyclopedia, Brian, introduced himself. Â In addition to ordering a cheese plate (delightful!) we tried six different wines. Â Three white, then three red. Â Brian explained the differences between each of them, asked us quiz/trivia questions, and was genuinely a friendly and extremely knowledgeable man. Â He answered any and all of our questions very thoroughly. Â He taught us about malic acid, different types of fermentation techniques, and where various grapes come from.
Do you know why red wines are red and white wines are white? Â I do!
Did you know there are more than 3,000 vineyards in California alone?
I don't drink a lot of wine--but at least now I know a bit about it and I don't have to look like a deer caught in the headlights when people start talking about wines--and people, let me tell you, talk about wines. Â Not me--but people I know.
I found out that I like sweeter white wines... I bought a bottle of Riesling we'd tried as we left for the night and we left Brian a great tip. Â He earned it--that dude knows his wines.
A good time was had by all and I can quite easily see myself returning to Winestyles in the future.
After purchasing a groupon, I brought 3 friends here for a wine tasting and we had a fabulous time. The staff was friendly and attentive and they really did a good job of educating us about the wines we were trying. We ordered a cheese plate to go with the wine which was also delish. Also, one friend brought a pecan pie to share and they had no problem with it (we asked first and shared with the staff). My only complaint is that without the groupon, the same wine tasting and cheese plate would have been extremely expensive - i think they said it would have $60 for about 1.5 glasses of wine for 4 ppl  and the wine they served was not expensive.  I would love to go back if they offer another deal or drop the prices though...
Review Source:It was a good wine tasting experience. Â Yay for livingsocial deals :)
Anyway, the wine selections for our tasting were 3 whites (light-med-bold) & 3 reds (light-med-bold), all were good. Â You get a baby water bottle too. Â Christine (Owner) tells you what the wine is, what it'll taste like, where it's from, and what food it pairs well with. Â The wine selections change every week.
Christine even let me sample a moscato because we were on the topic of the moscato in our conversation, it's now one of my favorites! Â Flore de Moscato (Salt of the Earth). Â She is very knowledgeable of wines, and if you're looking for a specific type, she can probably help you find a good wine.
Wines in this boutique are affordable $10-25, very good selection of wines you don't really find anywhere else.. I tried to find that Flore de Moscato.. lol
The front is the store where wines are sold & in the back is the wine tasting area. Â
**
Parking is no problem in Orchard Hills plaza.. neither was getting an appointment, though appointment slots did fill up fast. Â They're very accommodating with appointments.
Yes! One of the best Livingsocial deals that I've gotten.
We got a table with our reservations right away and the man serving us was amazing. Â I don't really need people chit chatting with me during wine tastings, and what was great about this guy is that he would pop up, pour the wine, explain in detail what we were tasting, and bounce. Â As soon as we were finished, he would come back and repeat. Â He actually taught us something about wine. Â Most places just tell you that this red wine tastes like tobacco and cherries or whatever, but he actually explained to us the meaning behinds its name, the chemicals in the wine that gives off specific tastes. Â I would totally go back and share a few glasses with my friends.
The only downfall was that a giant spider was hanging next to me on its web. Awesome.
Came here with some friends with a Groupon and was seated in the back wine tasting area which was really quaint. We were a bit late and unorganized but they were very patient, each bottle was explained in detail and then poured in for tasting pleasures. The shop had tons of selection for wines and accessories and they were offering a 6 for $60 deal on select bottles unfortunately we didn't have the time to browse too much to pick anything up but will do on the next visit. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
Review Source:I came here with 4 friends using a Groupon deal that we bought for a tasting. I think we had 5 or 6 wines. The owner was the one who served us and you could tell he knew his stuff. He spent several minutes explaining each wine, where it came from, what made it different from the others, etc. We really appreciated the time he took to tell us about the wines and chat with us about where we were from and our wine experiences. He gave us a a LOT of info though so I'm not sure how much of it we will retain. Â I liked that the wines were organized by flavor profile instead of grape, that was very new and interesting to me.
He used a special stopper to pour the wines which measured out an exact serving. On the one hand, that is great because we all get the same amount. On the other hand, isn't it a bit stingy? However, I will let that slide since the pours were not too small. For some reason, none of us liked any of the reds we were given. I am not sure if it was an off day or they did not follow the whites well or what, but it was bizarre. One thing I really appreciated: we tried to order the cheese plate but the owner told us that he had been out and somebody else had bought the cheeses that week and they were not great. I absolutely love when people do this because it shows they want you to have a good experience and are not just concerned with making money.
Overall, we had a nice time and the ambiance in the back is really cool. I will definitely be back for more tastings and maybe we can get the cheese plate as picked out by the owner!
I tried to plan a nice wine tasting trip with some friends. I called and the owner answered and was do obnoxiously rude! She was annoyed and started yelling at me and told me to go get my money back from living social! Rudest 8!tch I have ever ever talked to! Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review Source:Had a great time with some friends. I bought a groupon and they didn't treat us any differently from anyone else. Â They were very attentive to our group. Â The owner (I guess) was giving us a lot of information about wine and grapes and wine regions and was educating how to make wine.
Prices were very reasonable. We tried six wines, bought some for home and had some glasses there. They had a great deal 6 for $60. Â We bought six!
Saturday, after the last tasting at six, they have live  music.  Its really a great place to relax and have some fun with some friends.  They have a GREAT variety of wines.  My husband and I will be back for sure.
Great interior! They only thing I would have to say is that that their stools were a little uncomfortable.
This place is in a really cute strip mall. We were the only customers in the store, but they were also preparing for a private party.
The wine was good. They classify wines by mellow, fresh, and strong. The owner was really knowledgable and even gave us tips about different wineries in northern California.
I like that most of the wines are under twenty bucks, but at the same time we found out that you can get the same bottles at vons for a lot cheaper. But you pay for the experience I guess.
I would do more wine tastings there and then go buy the bottles at the grocery store hahaha.
We purchased a groupon for this and enjoyed wine tasting for 4. Â The store is really nicely decorated and love the bar tables (they're wooden wine barrels. Â
I believe it was the owner giving us the wine tasting and you can clearly tell his passion and love for wine. Â
Great place and ambiance.
Let me get it out of the way right off the bat: Â
THE BEST WINE BAR IN IRVINE! Â WINESTYLES IN ORCHARD HILLS!
Stay away from the rude and total lack of customer service at the  Bacchus Secret Cellar  wine bar in Quail Hill --
their secret is lousy service.
The Bacchus wine bar in Quail Hill pales compared to the warm, attentive and personal touch of WineStyles owners David and Christine. Â The customer service is first class along with the customers. Â
For an enjoyable glass of wine in comfortable surroundings WineStyles at Orchard Hills--Rocks!
Came in here last night for some wine and cheese and had a great experience. Very friendly atmosphere, awesome wine choices, and nice/knowledgable owner.
Had a great bottle of pinot and the cheese plate
-John Alan 2008 Pinot
Im a little sad that ive lived in irvine for over 2 years now and i just find this gem less than 2 miles from my home :(
At first glance, Winestyles looks like a little boutique, but as I have recently found, it is one with a great Wine Bar towards the back of the store. Â
* Wine Selection - affordable & grouped by taste which makes it easier to find your style of wine!
* Wine tastings - Selection changes every week
* Bar Area - Cozy and nicely decorated
* Boutique - Unique gifts for the wine lover
* Service - Attentive, cordial & knowledgeable Hosts
They also host different events - Ladies Night (I'll be there tonight!!!), Chocolate & Wine Parings and Live music on Saturdays. Â I purposely signed up for their mailing list so I know what's coming next!
A great place to do a few tastings or just get a glass of wine and sip with friends.
Very friendly owners and inexpensive to walk from home to share a bottle or three with friends. Â They have live entertainment at on some Friday nights. Â It's quaint and it can get crowded. Â The wine isn't anything you will find rated in wine spectator, but it beats going to a crappy restaurant and paying $40 for a $6 bottle of wine. Â They have a tv in there and they also have a deal I think to get food delivered in from Zov's, which is great.
Review Source:I have been to this location of WineStyles several times now and never been disappointed. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I am always impressed with the array of boutique wines offered at very reasonable prices. I recently went last Thursday for the 10 tastings for $10 and ended up buying 4 bottles of wine from which I had tasted. I would have given this WineStyles in Portola 5 stars, but the venue is somewhat small, but never crowded.
