Hands down the best Chinese food I've found in Denver, certainly the best in Cap Hill.  Service is very friendly and professional, both on the phone and in person. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced.

The flavor of the dishes was excellent (we had the Black Pepper Chicken and the Hoisin Exploding Chicken), the chicken was tender and the sauces were rich, without being too sweet or syrupy. Both of those entrees would be highly recommended.
*NOTE: Spicy really isn't...if you like the heat, ask them to turn it up a notch. Or 5.

The interior of the restaurant is small, but very tastefully decorated and impeccably clean. If you can't tolerate another dinner party within shouting distance of your table, this place may not be for you, but I found the atmosphere to be very pleasant, and would definitely eat in.

This place is GREAT! It is so nice to have finally found an Asian restaurant that I can recommend to friends and family that come to visit!

My favorite(addiction). I deniably order 2-3 times a week. Killer curry, rolls of all kind and the Char Bowl is phenom. Always piping hot and fresh. DO IT!

Had a great experience. Some of the best casual Asian food I've had in Denver. The restaurant has a nice interior and great service. The drunken noodles and bang bang chicken & shrimp were both great. Appetizer order of potsticker-style dumplings were also excellent: slightly thicker wrap then usual, but with amazing texture (pan crispy) + nicely seasoned pork inside. I'd been to the Barricuda next door and walked past this place, but always assumed it was just another neighborhood spot. It's not. It's an exceptional one.

I like to get delivery now and then and I've gotten it from here 4 different times now. It's been good every time! My boyfriend always gets the szechuan chicken and the veggies are always big, fresh, and crunchy! I've gotten various things... the beef pan-fried noodles and the crab-cheese wontons (which come with a unique and addictive mint dipping sauce instead of regular sweet-and-sour) are my favorite things to order. and they always pack the food in, too... it's not cheap food, but you get a lot of it. As someone else said, the amount left in the takeout containers after you've taken out a serving is what some other restaurants give you for your whole order.

Really good black pepper chicken, crab cheese wontons, and the chicken pho was all right too.
Make sure you're ready for a quick delivery time! I called to order at 9:40pm and gave my name for the call box at my apt. I was told 45 mins so I started some laundry and jumped in the shower. My phone rang with the delivery at the front door no less than 15 mins after I called. I asked if the delivery man could please call from the call box and come up to my apt. door but he could not understand my English, he said. Soaking wet and running down flights of stairs for dinner was a bummer but the food was good and my hope is that they will see this review and take more care when non-chalantly quoting delivery times and taking down last names.

Great food served fast and with really good service. It's also a nice place to sit and eat: They've done a great job with the decor. The portions are ample and delicious and really well priced. In fact, I'm not really sure how they get the prices so low. I've eaten here now over a dozen times and have never been disappointed.

My one downside is that when it is cold outside, it is hard to find a table far enough away from the draft of the front door, which of course opens frequently as they do a very brisk and well deserved amount of take-out business.

This is my "go-to" place when I want Asian takeout. I don't think twice about picking up the phone.

Honestly, I'd probably never eat inside. Even when I go to pick up my meals I feel cramped in there. For those of you who are lucky enough to live within walking distance, I'd assume it's more comfortable to eat at home. If you're planning on parking, obey their little sign - 7Eleven are apparently great at towing.

Value for money. Seriously, you get what you pay for and then some extra for later. You can easily make 2-3 meals out of the portions they serve. So far I've had the Orange Chicken and Green Curry, and I found them both to be brilliant.

I found the service to be very friendly, despite other reviews. Maybe they've changed their staff around a bit, but everything has always been great for me. Get in, get your food, get out. You get great food at a great price, so if you're looking for better service, pay for it at P.F. Changs or some other upscale establishment.

As my French bulldog would say, "Quel surprise!" (But then again, French bulldogs don't talk, and I don't have one . . .)

Where was I?  Oh yeah, Wokano. What a surprise. Located in a strip mall on the east side of Ogden across from the Capitol Hill Whole Foods store (which makes it just south, across 11th Ave., from Snarf's, one of my favorite sammich shops in town) (ya still with me now?), sits this wicked good and modest Asian diner. I mean bistro.

Cheap, cheap, cheap, and good, good, good, is what the food is.  Ordered the lunch version of sesame scallops for $7.50. Got good sweet/sour soup, a veggie eggroll, some just made rice, strikingly fresh (and not over-cooked) broccoli and carrots as a side, and some very beyond decent, with semi-large scallops, sesame scallops. Just about too much to eat, and all at the bargain price of $7.50.

Who woulda known? (Not me, cause we ended up there accidentally, when the Jelly Cafe turned out to be closed till 2/18 for renovations and we were looking for a place nearby). But now you do, so go hit em up for some cheap, good, Asian grub.

Visited Wokano tonight for the first time and really enjoyed the food! I had hot and sour soup and Kung pao chicken - both we're delicious! The dishes were flavorful but not overly greasy as some Chinese food can be.  I will definitely be back. Seems like a great take out place too. One note: they don't have a liquor license...

Holy un-wow. Our delivery was quoted to take 45min-1hour. The food showed up after 1 hour. That was not the problem.

The food was just awful!!! The General Tso Chicken & the Orange Chicken was hard and chewy, The crispy shrimp dish had so much batter, it took a minute to find the shrimp and all of them were soggy. The drunken noodles were just the worst, flavor, texture...everything.

Never have I ordered such terrible meal to be deliveredt! I really regret ordering extra so that we wouldn't have to bother with lunch today...

This place has yummy Chinese food. It is not extremely gourmet or fancy, but the food is always high quality and I have never had a meal I was not happy with.

As a neighborhood resident, I have had delivery, takeout, and eaten in. It is reasonably priced for Chinese in the Cap Hill/Downtown area, and I always have leftovers.

They have a cramped parking lot, but it is shared with a 7-11 on one side so cars go in and out quickly. On a snowy day, delivery times can get kind of long. But it is worth the wait.

    P.S. Try the moo shu!

My husband and I recently moved to Denver and were in dying need of some Chinese Food, especially delivery.. This was the first place we tried. The food was practically inedible. Everything tasted like Pancake Syrup! Every bite of sesame chicken all I could think was Mrs. Butterworth's!! Like another reviewer, we mostly had crab cheese wontons for dinner... But even those were pretty terrible since there wasn't ANY crab in them and they were mushy. Delivery time was 1 hour 5 minutes, just FYI.

Always solid food, and super fast.  You would have a hard time finding a friendlier staff.  The portions are very large for the price they charge.  I actually prefer to get take-away, because the cute little shop is so dang drafty!

You guys, the first time I ate here my fortune said - wait for it - HALLELUJAH! (exclamation mark included), and you know why? Because I had just discovered that this place: A) is not a dream; B) has amazing food; and C) is just over a mile from where I live. I ate an impromptu lunch here with a friend (having already eaten my weekly allowance of cereal in one day, unfortunately) but you know what? Still ordered egg drop soup*, crab & cheese wontons (with some wonderfully refreshing mint dipping concoction), and two plates of chicken (orange and Tso's) plus the allotted portions of rice, veggies, and pineapple. Still ate most of it. Still only paid somewhere slightly north of $20. Lunch specials: dig 'em!

I don't know if this is a tip or just a humiliating story to spread, but: if you use the bathroom ONLY to wash your hands (i.e. with the door still ajar) and you use a paper towel to dry them, the trash can is BEHIND THE DOOR. It is NOT hiding somewhere else. Especially in one of those drawers. Because, you know, it's obvious that those drawer handles aren't even really attached to anything. It will most likely fall apart. I do not know this from experience.

What you could do instead of messing about in the bathroom is order more things. Like that edamame. And then shout it loud from the mountaintops: HALLELUJAH!

    - - - - - -

    * The egg drop soup is great (obviously), but remember that the temperature window between third-level-of-hell hot and January-in-Minnesota cold is pretty infinitesimal. So when the soup feels right, EAT IT QUICKLY because cold egg drop soup is wasted egg drop soup. Don't mess around.

I like the drunken noodles here. They're really good with... beer. I also like the bbq pork fried rice. The Kim Chee is good but not excellent. Big portions for the price. Yeah, I like it!

The spicy string beans with pork as so good and not too spicy for those of you who might be afraid.  I've had the spicy edamame and I didn't think it was too spicy but it seems other reviewers have a different point of view!  Parking can be a bitch and don't even think about parking in front of the 7-11!!!!

Best Asian food I've had in Denver so far. Just ordered the Spicy Edamame and the Black Pepper Chicken -- SO good. It arrived hot, spicy, and the portions were generous. This is going to be my go-to Chinese Food / Asian Food delivery place from now on -- can't wait to try the other dishes. Also, VERY reasonable prices for the quality you receive.

Meh.  Meh.  Meh.  Mediocre, average, etc.  I was sick and ordered in some Chinese food, wanting to try someplace new.  The food arrived hot and on time like they said, but it wasn't all that great.  VEERRRRYYYYY salty, but also very bland.  Just basically filling, the soup made my sore throat feel better, but I was chugging water like it was my job the rest of the night.  Still trying to find a good place in the neighborhood, and the search continues.

sometimes great, sometimes just okay.  never bad. I wish they were a bit more consistent. I've ordered take-out here a few times. I typically order noodles and sometimes they do a great job on the season/sauce/flavours.  However a few times the noodles have been pretty blah.

All these rave reviews make me think I must have come on an off day. I decided to grab some Chinese while stopping at the Whole Foods across the way and ordered BBQ Pork Fried Rice. It smelled amazing on the drive home! When I opened it, the pork was so dry that you could use a fork to flake off pieces and all I could taste was salt. I'm really not sure if it was just me or if they were having an off day. I'll give them another try but just the idea of what might have been old, crusty pork... Ummm...

I was visiting Denver back in January and I heard this was the best Chinese food in town, and indeed it was!

Okay, parking might be a small issue as there are only 2 parking spots in front of each store, but I think parking on the street is not that bad.

This place can maybe seat 20-25 people, so you will get fast service. The waitresses are very polite and attentive and give out great recommendations if you ask them.

The food here is amazing. We ordered quite a lot of food due to starvation mode right before coming here, but here goes!

    - Hot and Sour Soup: I'm usually not a big fan, but the bowl was so big I had to try some just for the sake of trying it. It was actually really good! Not as sour as you normally would have elsewhere.

    - Stir-fry Seafood Udon?: The noodles were really yummy and not super greasy, and they are VERY generous on their seafood.

    - Crab Cheese Wontons: THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE MUST COME HERE FOR! I love love love crab wontons, and the portion comes with 8 perfectly crispy wontons...drool... double drool for their mint sauce.

    - Pineapple Cheese Wontons: I've never heard of this combination, so I just had to try it out myself. It was different.. and a must try because you probably won't be able to find it anywhere else.

Now if you don't have time to make the drive out here.. don't you worry! They have delivery service right to your door, and might I add... Mr. Delivery himself is super hot. yum..

I ordered delivery from here Saturday night. I strayed away from my normal Peter's Chinese because of all the negative reviews on Peter himself.

I read really nice reviews about Wokano, seemingly their food would not fail.

I ordered: Orange Chicken, Dan dan noodles and crab cheese wontons.

The delivery was quick. (delivered because they only accepted credit cards with delivery). This place is a stone's throw away from my apt, totally ready to pick it up.

They arrived earlier than their phone prediction of 45 minutes, which was nice.

Something was just totally weird about both of the dishes. When I want orange chicken, I want orange chicken. It had a weird smokey flavor that just did not work. I am all for food experimentation and trying different things; but this was just not hitting the spot. at all. I ordered 2 dishes and an app, and I have WAY too much leftover considering how much I love Chinese food.

I basically ate crab cheese wontons for dinner. They were the only decent thing that I ordered. Also, you need to ask for sweet and sour sauce. They did not throw any or hot mustard in the bag.

I'm going to try Lucky Fortune...

Ate here while I was visiting Denver.

The food is so, so delicious and cheap! I loved the decor of the tiny place, as well.

Go here if you're in the mood for asian cuisine-- You will NOT be disappointed.

Best takeout in Cap Hill. They're always fast, and the food only disappoints on a rare occasion. This is our Monday night go-to. We haven't had anything so far out of this world that we'd go here if we didn't live 2 blocks away... but it's a solid choice, and there is a good enough variety on the menu to satisfy any taste.

The fiance is obsessed with their mint "Green" sauce that comes with the crab wontons. Seriously, he would bathe in it if they served it in bathtub size.

If you want Sweet and Sour sauce here, you've got to ask for it. Specificially. And if you want to dip eggrolls/wontons/fingers in it, you've really got to be clear that you want a big side of it. Otherwise, you're getting 2 little ketchup packets.

So I have eaten at Wokano more times than I can count, and I have to say, the meal was so good I had to write about it.  Wokano is consistently delicious.

Tonight, my sister, her boyfriend, and I ordered a some delivery.  The food came hot and was freshly made.  If you are a fan of crab cheese wontons, order these immediately.  You will be pleasantly greeted with 8 (!) perfect little wontons, who are accompanied with a light minty pineapple sauce.  It's pretty hard to go back to the syrupy red sauce after that.

I'd never eaten the potstickers or the egg rolls and both were great.  The egg rolls came with a nice sweet and sour sauce; again, not the syrupy creepy red sauce.

While things weren't looking like could get much better, out came the Dan Dan Noodles.  This is the tastiest damn dish noodle dish; I couldn't stop eating it.  Spicy red chili sweet peanut sauce and crisp veggies with thick noodles.  The sauce was not too thick and packed with flavor.

On top of peanut sauce curry, moo shu chicken, and sesame tofu, I have, yet a new favorite dish: the Dan Dan Noodles.

We did order the Grilled Beef Noodle bowl, which wasn't great.  I've ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls, which I don't recommend either.  But this doesn't deter me in the slightest from ordering from Wokano because the other dishes are great.

    I love this place...

I've passed this little Capital Hill gem many times and now I wonder why? It's in a location of an old favorite Italian and is next door to a couple of questionable places, so maybe that's the answer. Anyway I went in for a quick lunch and I'll be going back again and again. The menu (and staff) seems to be a mix of Thai and Chinese. The decor is Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and even Hindu!

The owner (I assume) had a metal cup of ice water before me as I sat down (that's Thai) the server was there in a second to give me a menu. I ordered hot and sour soup and she returned in a second with a steaming bowl made with all sorts of goodies and flavored with dark soy, red peppers, and rice wine vinegar; it was terrific. I ordered Szechuan green beans with pork. This is a relatively uncommon item and I order it whenever I see it. This was perfect! And it was actually spicy hot as it is suppose to be. As a lunch item it included a vegetable egg roll and when I asked for hot mustard it was the real thing.

The food was great, the service great, the price was on the low side of average! What more can you ask for? I have a new neighborhood favorite.

Hell yes. Solid Chinese take-out without making you feel like you're drinking a bottle of oyster sauce and sesame oil.

If you're ordering in, food comes delivered piping hot, carefully packaged, and stuffed to the brim. You get a TON of food for your money here - no joke.

In the taste department, everything is fairly good. Not too salty or oily... just the right amount of flavor where it's needed. The Pad Thai is decent, but I'm especially in love with their Singapore Noodles and Garlic Eggplant.

Mmmm yes, I think I'll be coming back for more.

I have never written a bad review before but this place certainly deserves one. I ordered a simple meal of an appetizer, entree, and dessert for delivery. The estimated time given to me was 45 mins. Well two hours later I hadn't heard a word from them. So I call them up and they tell me that the driver left a while ago and they don't know where he is. The crass unprofessionalism of the place makes me never want to eat here again.

Having tried their food before the most I would give this place is three stars. The food is average at best, and coupled with the abysmal service Wokano doesn't even deserve one star.

The good: Huge portions at great prices, wide menu selection, quaint friendly atmosphere, god food.

The lows: Parking can be tough, the service is odd (more on that below), and the restaurant stinks of cigarette smoke every few minutes

With my wife and some friends (6 of us total) we visited Wokano for their Korean menu. Unfortunately, the Kim Chi was merely average, and purely Korean options were mostly missing from the menu...lots of popular Chinese and Thai dishes, but no buckwheat noodle dishes, Korean stews, etc.

What was most disappointing about the restaurant was the smell of cigarette smoke, which was frequent and pungent. My suspicion is that smokers in front of the bar next door blow smoke into the air vents, which then finds it's way directly into my space. It felt like I was sitting right next to a smoker.

The service was odd as well - the appetizers and main courses came willy-nilly. No timing. I don't know if that's really a big deal, but my dinner came a full 8 minutes before the other dinners, and my wife (who was starving) was getting annoyed.

If you live in the neighborhood, I'd say this is a great place to go on a weeknight, as the food is good and the dinner portions are large. But if you're driving into Denver to eat here, you're going to pass right by a lot of other decent Asian restaurants with similar menus and similar food...except they won't smell like smoke and parking won't be a problem. I won't be eating here again.

Ive got to say I am a fan of this place. The food is light and fresh. You can definitely taste the quality of the products within the food.

When eating in at the restaurant I couldn't help but notice this little place does not serve any alcohol. So if you are looking for some sake with your meal, this is not the place to go.

The inside of this restaurant is very small, but they use the space well and you don't feel cramped. The service is not exactly  fast or exceptional but the food is worth the short wait.... that being said the delivery is exceptional.

This is one of the fastest restaurants I have ever had delivery from and the quality of the food does not vary between delivery or eat in.

The soup, across the board is so-so. Nothing stand out.

The aps... all across the board are delicious! The only variance is grease. Sometimes there is barely none... other time.... well lets just say have napkins on hand.

The entrees are good. Because the meat i always fresh and quality we almost never stay with the same thing because we are willing to branch out.

I suggest you give this place a try. Its to nummers to not!

3 stars...4 stars.  Oh, the conundrum!  Ordered some delivery from these cats the other day and holy crap do you get your money's worth!  Is it the best Chinese food ever?  No, but it's certainly tasty, and for the amount you get...good Lord!

Ordered the egg drop soup, got a bowl rather than a cup.  The container barely fit in my microwave when re-heating it!  The pinapple cheese wontons are tasty as well. I love Singapore Noodles, so I tried them as well.  One plate down and you couldn't tell I'd taken any out of the package.  Two plates down and the container looked like most other Chinese takeout containers when you first get them.  The noodles themself were a bit brown as opposed to yellow.  I don't know if that makes them more or less authentic, but I know they were damn tasty.

Imma put Wokano on my speed dial now...

I've had a nasty cold this week, and the only cure for this Westwood kid is a giant bowl of pho.  I was skeptical about getting pho in Cap Hill, but decided to give Wokano a shot since I've heard good things.

Welp, they delivered.  I was absolutely shocked, but this pho rivals South Federal.  I got delivery pho because I seriously was not in any shape for company.  It was as big as my head and lasted about three days.  My only gripe was the noodles got gummy in transit, but that was still a delicious bowl of yum.

It was so good, it sparked a week-long craving for noodles and all things Asian.  I ended up getting another round of takeout for lunch yesterday--kal bi and some beef lo-mein.  The kal bi was my lunch; the lo-mein ended up being a midnight snack I ate after passing out for 7 hours after work--damn you, crud from hell).  I added sriracha.

The kal bi was a superstar.  Great char and fatty beef with nice greens and yummy pickled ginger (I'm on a pickled everything kick lately).  It will go on regular rotation.  I also liked the veggie egg rolls I got--especially with the spicy mustard.  My sinuses needed clearing, and that sauce certainly delivered.

I've found my way to Wokano a few times over the last year and now I'm wondering to myself:  why haven't I gone out of my way more often to find myself here?

On New Year's Eve day, Steve A and I met up for a late lunch at Wokano.  I perused the menu for a few minutes because there are so many tempting options!  I decided to try their beef thai curry dish and hot damn, I couldn't've picked something better!  I wanted a beef dish with some kick and this was done perfectly.  Tasty beef mixed with delicious veggies smothered in curry.  Oh my god yum.  Thankfully, we were there in time for their lunch menu (and lunch menu prices! score!), so my plate wasn't as full.  Had it been, there's no question I would've continued to eat all of it.  Aside from all of the meat dishes, there are many veggie-friendly options.  Always a bonus!

Wokano was lovely in the evening, but I preferred visiting for lunch a bit more.  While still crowded (this is a tiny space, so beware!), I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere just a wee bit more.  And the lunch prices as well!

Yep, Wokano is certainly in my rotation!

    Weird.

I've never been so conflicted about a place. Or so willing to disregard ridiculously mediocre service for the sake of the tasty food. I think I'll probably just focus on pick-up.

This popular multi-ethnic Asian restaurant is tucked into a tiny strip mall near the Capitol Hill neighborhood. My first time 'round I ordered the Kim Chee Ji Gae to share and the explosive chicken.  Exploding chicken?  Something like that.  The Kim Chee didn't taste particularly authentic, (it was a bit more bitter, maybe not enough time cooking/fermenting) but was pretty tasty anyway and a nice starter dish.

The detonating poultry was also very good.  Spicy and saucy without being overly so, and definitely not bland.

The second time around, we ate in, ordering the Buddha's Delight, a tofu veggie experience, more Kim Chee, and some tea.  The hostess was friendly and helpful, but our very young waitress, maybe her younger sister, could've cared less whether we were there or not. I'll chalk it up to just being young, but she was rarely present, completely unenthusiastic and didn't really seem into helping us order.  The food was delivered in a timely fashion, however, and was still very good.

Ultimately, I don't really care that the service sucked.  Dinner was good.  But there would've been another star in it for you, Wokano, had you actually cared if we walked through the door.

    - One star for Pineapple Cream Cheese Wontons
    - One star for friendly delivery staff.

Wokano's is seriously like Emperor's New Clothes among my coworkers.  They never want to order from anywhere else, and they all rave about how amazing it is.

Well it's not.  I mean, maybe it's a meat-less thing (as in, their meat dishes are amazing?), but their vegetarian dishes are always overly-salty slop.  And every time I agree to eat the food, thinking "well, maybe it will be fine", it's not.  And I immediately regret the decision.

I appreciate that they have fish-free wontons; the pineapple wontons are actually quite stellar.  Though I don't suppose it takes much to put cream cheese in a wrapper and deep fry it...  But either way, I don't want to eat just grease bombs for lunch (no matter how tasty), and at $4.95 an order, spending that in addition to getting some veggies in there is more than I want to spend on lunch.

Truly, I've experienced better.  Sorry to all lovers out there, but I just can't jump on board.

Wokano is a neighborhood gem; it's my go-to spot when I'm too lazy to make dinner and just want to be comforted by a bowl of rice. Although the menu is your typical Pan-Asian fare, but I would say that Wokano has a more extensive menu than other restaurants of this type. For instance, you don't often see Kobe Beef Rice Bowls in other restaurants like this. Most of their dishes are also pretty generous on vegetable portions, as opposed to the regular 'nothing but deep-fried breaded meat in some sweet sticky sauce' dish you often find in other places. I mean, there's a lot of that too, don't get me wrong, I love those dishes (sweet and sour pork? lemon chicken? yum!) but also appreciate vegetables to cut down on the grease.

Other pros: the servings are extremely generous, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. If you dine-in, the staff is friendly, if a little hurried at times. I've never been for lunch, but it looks like a great deal.

My one stipulation is that, unless you live in the surrounding neighborhood or walking distance, I wouldn't really seek this place out. It's pretty unremarkable from a lot of other Pan-Asian restaurants, and, if you're going to drive somewhere to get Asian food, you might as well get the real thing at Federal Blvd.

I feel bad giving a 4 star but this is just for the takeout.

I ordered the thai basil chicken. 5 minutes later it was ready. Great!

I got home and the portion was huge! It had to save some for lunch the next day. It's really not my favorite place, but it's so close that I think it may become a stomping ground for me.

A gem squeezed into a busy Cap Hill hot spot!

Why haven't I reviewed this awesome venue yet? Because I was subconsciously hoping I could somehow give more than 5 stars someday!

I have eaten in their cute lil spot, ordered take out, and had it delivered - all awesome experiences. I even went with a group of 7 once & it was quite amazing as per usual!

The servings are insane large and crazy delish! The price and location are right and I am starting to drool a little just thinking about it. Yummers!
