Yardarm Pub

Okay I admit we tend to be kind of food and beer snobs from Seattle but we loved this place!  Went there because we had to be in Des Moines (which is actually a really cute little town - who knew!) The waiter was so nice!  And he was funny and attentive.  And they have an awesome beer selection - yay!  We had burgers and nachos - huge portions and really tasty stuff.  And they have pool tables which was a lot of fun.  When you walk in you're like P.U. this smells like an old tavern but you know, it is an old tavern and that's what it is supposed to smell like.  And it's also kind of hidden and you could drive right past it, which we did, but we persisted and it was worth it.  Would definitely go back there again!  No complaints!  And they have funny condom machines in the bathroom which we found amusing and entertaining.  We also bought some pulltabs which is basically throwing away your money but we thought it was kind of fun too.  Anyway, we had the blue cheese burger and the boozer and beef nachos.  All totally fine.  Fun place to go!

We like going to the Yardarm! We have gone there for years and now our kids that have finally came of age also like going there. The Yardarm has been in town since we have lived in Des Moines and has ALWAYS given us great food, drink and service! We will continue to stop by for 1 or 2 drinks and have a bite to eat too!

Came here last night (03/22/2013) with my Mom and her friend. This was our first time in here. From the beginning it was a neat little place. Cool big chains for the door handles. And when you walked in, it had that nice little dive bar atmosphere.

When we sat down, we were greeted by our server. His name was Mark. After hearing the dinner specials, I had the steak and prawns, my Mom had the Prime Rib and her friend has steak. All three of our dinners were great. My Mom could not stop talking about how great her Prime Rib was. My steak and prawns were really good as well.

The last thing that I have to compliment on is our server Mark. Even though the place was busy, he was very attentive to our needs and never let us have a need to ask for another beverage.

We all really enjoyed our experience and we will definately be back.
