The world needs to know that this was the WORST Burrito I have eaten in my life....and yes I have eaten many burritos.

Something went wrong with either the meat or the beans. I continued eating several bites out of curiosity before abandoning all hope around 50% of the way. If I had access to genome sequencing I would have tested the chicken - "something was rotten in the state of denmark" as they say.

Anyways I had the entrée so I sampled the rice and beans. The rice tasted like the smell of popcorn mixed with Vacuum cleaner emissions.

    - Ive said enough

I wanted to fall in love with this place, but I didn't.  The lunch tacos are enjoyable and are prices reasonably. I'm wishing they would keep the same menu for lunch & dinner.  I don't want 3 tacos with rice & beans.  I want 2 tacos - I like the shrimp & chorizo.

It's concept of this restaurant is confusing.  Is it a sit-down restaurant or fast food joint?

I know the owner has great passion for this restaurant.  He's always onsite, which is nice to see.  I live across the street and want to see this location be successful.  This type of Mexican food is not worth splurging on the calories. However, if this location magically reopened as a Froyo place.  I would probably stop in weekly.  Currently, I'm making the mile long walk into the heart of the city for Froyo.  I'm excited to see a Red Mango opening soon a few blocks away.  But, I would love, love, love to have Froyo across the street from where I live.

Should you eat here? I would say ... try it.  Get a couple of lunch tacos to-go.

I see the negative reviews below but no one has posted since August.  Maybe they've changed a bit? I went there for lunch today because I can walk there from work.  I got 4 tacos and a Coke for $11 and some change. Pricey? I don't know. Maybe, but that's still less than I usually pay at Chipotle for 4 tacos and a drink.  Anyway, my tacos were fantastic! And I love the sauces that were brought out with them. I was totally satisfied with my lunch there today and I'll definitely be back.

I was really excited when Zenba moved into the west loop.  A BYOB Mexican restaurant sounds very appealing to all.  But, the excitement stops there as the service in the restaurant is disappointing.  We had to wait a long time to get out food ever though there was no one in the restaurant and we ordered tacos which are simple to make.  The presentation of the food was as if you made it at home and the taste of the food was very bland.  I got the steak tacos and my friends got the other various items and everyone felt the food was not exciting and would not want to come back.  If you are looking for bland food that seems overpriced for what you get, then feel free to go to Zenba,

Since I work in the area I wanted to try another Mexican restaurant near my work place. I decided to order the steak & chicken tacos. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my lunch.  The meat was fatty and had NO flavor.

The waitress was very nice, friendly and good customer service.  The restaurant was very clean.

I agree with the other reviewer. I'm going to stick with the French Market.  For good tasty authentic Mexican food I'm going to continue going to Buen Apetito located at the French Market (Clinton & Randolph). Their food is incredibly flavorful!   I really enjoy eating their steak taco salad and their burritos. I often stop by in the morning for their delicious breakfast to go.  My meal is always under $10.00.

Due to the very high rents in downtown the overhead of the restaurants in this area are high.  Unfortunately, this is the cause of the high prices  on many menus in downtown Chicago.

I literally check Yelp for every new restaurant I am considering to try and when I saw the terrible reviews for Zenba I decided to steer clear of the place. I work across the street from here and have passed it daily in fear that I'd waste my good hard earned money on sub par tacos. Two days ago a coworker was daring enough to be our guinea pig and walked over to taste the steak tacos. She came back with great reviews and so I stormed off to try them for myself.

I ordered the carne asada tacos with cilantro/onion and a side of sour cream, and they were SO good. The steak was tender and flavorful and i saw NONE of the fatty pieces that others reviewed about. After I finished my two tacos, my mouth yearned for one more but I decided against my fat girl urge.

The next day I decided to go back (judge me)...and I got my mom a steak taco and also a chicken taco, I got myself one steak taco and one shrimp. All were spectacular yet again. The shrimp taco is topped with a spicy chipotle sauce and cabbage and juicy plump shrimp.

Oh and there was plenty of steak, chicken and shrimp on each taco...they are not selfish at all. So if you're into Mexican food, check it out...it's worth the try!

Since I live in the area, I was really excited to see another restaurant, especially Mexican since it is my favorite. With that being said, the excitement stopped once I tasted the food. While somewhat visually appealing, it lacked flavor.  I had the naked burrito with chicken. The chicken was bland and it had way too many onions. The hot and mild salsas were "hot and mild" but not flavorful.

On a more positive note, the service was nice. Unfortunately, it was nice enough to earn my return business.

This place is not going to be around much longer.  Considering it's the same owner as the tremendous Trattoria Isabella, I was shocked to see this place.  The restaurant is almost always empty, salsa comes out of a ketchup dispenser, the roof leaks on you while you eat, and the food is sub-par.  Wish this place would be a froyo store or something.

Ordered the steak tacos and they tasted extremely charred. Not enough meat either and what was on there tasted fatty. Think I might stick to the French Market...

Like everyone else, I really wanted to like this neighborhood Mexican restaurant.  Unfortunately, like many other reviews, Zeneba fails in many areas.

First, the food just is not good.  My girlfriend's fish tacos were literally uneatable.  The fish tasted stale and the sauce that they put on the tacos was not only not good tasting, but they drenched the tacos in it!   As for my steak fajitas, they did provide a good amount of steak and tortillas, but unfortunately, every piece of steak was incredibly fatty.

I think Zeneba has an identity crisis.  It is definitely not an upscale Mexican restaurant (i.e. De Ceros on Randolph), but it is definitely not a neighborhood Mexican spot either (i.e. 4 Hermanos).

The food is pricey for the quality, yet they service bottled Iced Tea and do not have a liquor license.  So if I am looking for a quick bite of Mexican, I will go elsewhere.  If i am looking for a nice Mexican restaurant, I will go elsewhere.

I've eaten there 3 times and I love the shimp tacos so much, that's all I get! However, everything about this place, so far, is simple, delicious and a perfect example of what a casual mexican restaurant should be.  They even serve Coke is glass bottles.  Who doesn't love that?!

The food was ok, nothing special, pretty standard Mexican.  Chicken tacos were ok.  Everything was definitely overpriced.  $13.00 for 3 tacos with cheese, canned refried beans, and basic rice is a little ridiculous.  The guacamole was really guide but that alone will not have me coming back.  It is a small environment - definitely a lunch price for which it is too expensive.

Sorry, Zenba. You are pretty mediocre. Decent guacamole, but I won't be coming back. Cashier told me all tacos are on corn tortillas and they were clearly flour when I got back to my desk. Head elsewhere for your taco fix.

Since I have lived in this area for several years, I've seen this particular space host many food businesses, and I was so excited that this was not going to be another sandwich shop! It did not entirely disappoint!

The salsa and guacamole for starters is great.

As far as entrees, the fish tacos are my favorite item. The only issue I have with these is the grease factor. However, you can strategically forego the grease by holding your taco at an angle. This gets 90% of the grease off immediately. You will thank me later for the hundreds of calories I just saved you.

My husband says the quesadillas are really good. My friend thinks the enchiladas are quite tasty, too.

My only issue with them (besides the grease) is their pricing. I know, I know -- we're in the West Loop, so it's going to be pricy -- but this place is set up as if it looks like a fast food joint, so it really threw my wallet off. I don't like being bamboozled. LOL.

I was very excited when this Mexican restaurant opened up across the street.  I ordered a carne asada burrito and wished I had just gone to Taco Bell.  There wasn't enough meat for me to say whether or not it is flavorless, but the burrito itself was bland and tiny.  The price was slightly high, but that is to be understood at a location so close to the loop.  I'd avoid going back here and take the two block walk to La Cocina.  When this place closes down, can someone open up a decent Mexican place?  I'd be very appreciative.

I've been wanting to try this place seeing I walk past it every day.  Unfortunately, it is way overpriced mexican food that's not authentic and bland in flavor.  Pretty awful, they would need to slash their prices in half to even get to two stars.

I got the enchiladas to go.  They were a mess in the box, the meat was super chewy and fatty which also lacked flavor. The rice was more like rice from a box and the beans were a mess.

I live near Zenba and I eagerly awaited for this place to open...and now I can't wait for this place to close. By far the worst meal that I ever had. Everything was just gross and soggy. Don't the the lines during lunch fool you because they'll disappear soon. I really wanted to like this place but it was just awful. If you're carving Mexican, head down Randolph and visit Perez instead.

I wanted to like this place....I really did. I live in the area and have been waiting for a non sandwich place to open up. We watched for months while the restaurant was put together and excitedly saw the line out the door on day 1.

The dining area itself is small. Im not a fan of the exposed kitchen and the giant Snapple cooler. If you're going to hire waitresses to seat and serve you, the experience shouldn't reflect a badly constructed fast food joint.

Then there is the food. The salsa was watery and bland, the beans runny and tasteless, the chicken over cooked. I went a second time hoping our experience was a result of week 1 jitters, but again I was disappointed by my soggy Torta.

Zenba, the people of this area will love you if you can get it right. Make a few tweaks and you'll earn return customers. If not, I'll make the trip over to Blue Agave once it opens. At least I can wash their so so food down with a margarita there.

Some of the worst mexican food I have had. Sloppy and flavorless.

Pretty awful.  My friend said his rice tasted like rice-a-roni, refried beans clearly from a can, plus I didn't get what I ordered and still got charged for it.  Never going back.
