This is a great place to hang out with other grown ups. You won't have to deal with the college crowd here (hopefully it stays that way). They have an excellent selection of wine, a full bar and good beer too. I'm not sure what kind of food they have because we just went for drinks after the other wine bar across the street closed at 11:00. The prices are decent and the service is very good. They have big comfy chairs up against the wall. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. It's a cool place to go chill and talk over drinks. If and when you find something you like, you can buy it retail and take a few bottles home with you. I'll definitely be back.

I have been here on several occasions for special events.  Last night I went with a friend.  I had not eaten... We got a nice bottle of wine from the 12.00 list (suggested by the knowledgeable staff) and an order of the Truffle Fries.  I was worried that in sharing them, there would not be enough.  Was I Wrong!!!  Huge portion... and delicious!

I was a little worried this place would be too fancy-pants. Nothing to worry about, they won't even look down on you for ordering a beer instead of a glass of wine. They have a handful of good quality draft beers, and a short menu of great bites. Servers are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. A small group would feel comfortable here, especially on a weeknight. Or, do like I plan to do, and stop by after work for a glass of wine or a beer.

Having been to the sister resturant 1618 and reading a review in the local news&fishwrap, with the very limited resturant scene we went looking forward to finding another good place to go in Greensboro. Saturday night and the place was packed, with the only one table available we sat down, We sat and sat and finally the waitress brought over food and drink menu, basically throwing them on the table and telling us she would be right back. In the ensuing 15 minutes the table next to us left and another couple sat down, before we got our waiteress back the other couple had their order taken and got drinks before we ordered. As with 1618 Seafood Grille the service is very inconsistant which is unfortunate as the food was excellent. the only complaint with the menu was the lack of any veg or salad dishes. The music choice was excellent but played way too loud as noise level was hindering any meaningful conversation.

I'm a regular of 1618 West Seafood Grill and often stop in to the 1618 Wine Lounge for a small plate and a glass of wine in the evening and so I had moderately high expectations for the Rose Wine Dinner at the Wine Lounge that I attended last night.  I must say that I was overwhelmed with the quality of the small plates that were offered.  The food was amazing and the wine pairings were perfect.  A couple of the small plates that were offered last night and are especially worth mentioning were the peppered filet mignonette with cauliflower & chic pea purée with applewood bacon and fuji apple demi and the braised short ribs which literally melted in your mouth. I've never been a Rose fan but the care and consideration given to the wine and food pairing made me reconsider this position.  The service - as usual - was great as Stacey and the staff here are knowledgeable and attentive without being snooty or  overbearing.  I highly recommend the Wine Lounge and especially the wine dinners here.

1618 Wine Lounge is a grown-up hangout spot...

Expect delicious tapas (small plates) with an exceptional selection of wine and beer. The lounge arrangement is a nice vibe for 'small & intimate' gatherings. But be advised to arrive early. With first come first serve seating, the place gets filled quickly on fri./sat. nights. Although I'd say the wait is reasonable and well worth the experience. ...And creme brulee for dessert is a must!

Add a food truck out back, and poof.....you have small plates!  Due to space issues, the owners could not fit in a kitchen, so instead they brought in a food truck.  And, as you can imagine, the food lives up to the awesomeness that is their reputation from their main restaurant across town.
The menu actually states at the bottom that the chefs love their "heat", so be sure to let them know if you don't like it too spicy.
The Buffalo Oysters are very good - spicy chipotle buffalo sauce over fried oysters on top of a wasabi cole slaw.  The spring rolls were very good as well -  kind of thai style with beef and served with a ginger dipping sauce.  The calamari is similar to their main restaurant - fried with a wasabi dressing on top and mixed with a few red beans and sprouts as well as a spicy remoulade dipping sauce.....ohhhh so good!
They also have fish or shredded pork taco's - a table beside us got them and they looked amazing!
Continues to have a great wine list that is ever revolving and also great variation on price points.  Also service has always been top notch.
Highly recommend for drinks or casual meal!

All the, small plates, were great, and tasty (as sung in the tune of Blink182 - all the small things)

nice vibe - really liked this place for the food, wine and beer. We had the calamari - yummy!! the corn dogs, pomme frittes and spring roll and they were all very good.

    Great little date spot.

Nice place to go with a small group. Perfect for 2. This is a very nice wine bar which Greensboro desperately needed. Location is ok, but I wish it was downtown. Really nice wine selection and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Thursday you get a free cheese plate with a bottle of wine. Great ambiance and great crowd.

This recently opened spot, brought to you by the folks that operate 1618 Seafood on West Friendly, is very attractively decorated in a modern, trendy style. There are a few tables, a number of 2 seat cubes with soft comfortable chairs, and stools at the bar. The ceiling is open to the top, much like the place on Friendly, the lighting is soft, the entire place cozy.

They offer full bar service, highlighting quality beer and wine selections, with some daily specials. The wines by the glass can be a taste, 1/2  glass, or full glass, allowing for sampling at reasonable prices. Cocktail prices are reasonable, Ketel One on the rocks at $7, and a nice pour.

The food is basically a Charcuterie Board  setup with 6 plates featuring all cheeses on some, all seasoned meats on some, and some that are mixtures. You can purchase individual cheese or meat items as well. The plates are priced at $8 for single, $14 for double.

Among the cheese offered are Asiago, aged Gruyere, Comte, Crucola, Danish Havarti, goat cheese, provolone, triple creme brie, and more. Meats include Chorizo, Salami, Serrano ham, prosciutto piccante, prosciutto di parma, and soppressata.

This is a great place for a lite meal with a variety of wines, or a nice way to finish the evening with meats, cheese, and vino. They have no kitchen facilities here, and limited refrigeration, so cheese and seasoned meats, with some nice bread is the entire fare.

The service is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable as to the fare, the beverages, and even the background music. This is a nice, relaxing place, we'll see if its limited menu, good beverage choices, and great service will be successful.

Wow! This place is exactly what Greensboro, NC needed-- a first-class wine bar! Not only do they have an excellent selection of wines, but also they feature a number of interesting and yummy cocktails. If you're  hungry, they don't offer full meals, but they do feature a wide array of cheeses and small plate options to pair with their wines. I tried a number of their speciality cheeses on my last visit, and all were yummy! I'd feel safe to say that you probably couldn't go wrong with any of them. The only disappointment of the night was that 1618 didn't carry any dessert options. We were jonesing for something sweet, and, although they said they typically offer desserts, on this night, they didn't have any in stock.

Another appealing thing about 1618 is the atmosphere. This place has a great ambience for a wine bar and features a sleek modern look balanced with soft lighting and neutral colors. The place does get busy on the weekends, so it's not a quiet hang out. But, the energy and buzz that comes from patrons having a good time is part of 1618's appeal.

Come here for the best wine bar experience in Greensboro, the smart bev list, and the modern atmosphere.

    The Atmosphere
You'll find concrete, cool lighting, glass, and spare but comfortable furnishings at 1618.  This lounge ups the ante considerably on Irving Park Plaza's going-out scene, and I'm eager to see the kind of crowd it will draw.  Really, the only way this place could go awry is if it becomes an overflow space for The Underground or a den of cougars (the eponymous cocktail won't help there).

    The Wine
The wine list has some thoughtful options, like an Arneis from Willamete.  Don't worry if you haven't made it through Wine 401 yet, though, the by-the-glass list should have an option for everyone.  There are over a dozen whites and reds available in 6, 3, and 1.5 oz pours, and prices range from $4.25 to $13.75 for full glasses.  There are also plenty of bottles to select from, with prices ranging form the teens to the hundreds.  $50 appears to be the median bottle price, but there are plenty of options around $30.

    The Mixed Drinks
Liqour doesn't tower behind the bar, but what is available is very well chosen.  Bookers, Basil Hayden, Maker's, McCallen 12, Glenlivet, Bombay Sapphire, Tanq 10, and plenty of etched glass in the vodka department should keep folks happy.  Specialty cocktails looked tempting and ranged from $8-$10.

    The Beer
To round things out, this place has a pretty damn good beer list.  There were around 20 offerings, few of which where Domestic Shyte.  Two Natty's made up the tap list.  Always remember: Any place that has Dale's has good people.

    The Food
The friendly cook prepping charcuterie at the bar offered me tasty samples of prosciutto and Serrano ham.  A fridge full of cheese wedges greets you at the door.

    The Specials
    Half-priced bubbly on Mondays
