A PLACE THAT USED TO BE AWESOME. Ever since the new owner took over at the end of 2012 and changed the once awesome Brownies into 23 East Night Club, Sink or Swim Nights have become deserted (with the exception of the 1st Wednesday of every Semester). Thankfully, it won't be long until the new owner drives the business into bankruptcy and the bar will *hopefully* be sold to someone who will bring back the live music. $2 drinks w/ live music is a much better business model than 50 cent drinks with a DJ playing "music" that nobody likes. The unprecedented decline in attendance speaks for itself. The 96.5 commercials aren't apparently working either. Time to go back to the drawing board. This place used to be great because it was the one place in the Delaware Valley where you could get in for free, enjoy cheap drinks, great live music acts and free wings. The live music and free wings no longer exist, and the attendance has plummeted since then. I'd like to meet the owner who believes cutting costs by 30% in exchange for a 90% decline in revenue is a good business decision. He surely needs his head examined. The 2nd floor is now shut off with a black curtain around the top. They are likely making up for the revenue plunge by by running a brothel or some kinky Russian fetish bar upstairs so they can stay afloat financially long enough to see their bar fall into further ruin. ZERO OUT OF TWO STARS for the atmosphere and current experience. ONE/ONE star for their awesome bartenders. and TWO/TWO star for their cheap drink prices and free fries & pizza. ONE bonus star for serving me well as a stomping ground during my college years for my fix of weekly free live music and free wings.

I only come here when Splintered Sunlight is playing. They are an awesome Grateful Dead tribute band. There is usually a seven dollar cover, but it is worth it for a night of good jams. The new stage setup is smaller then the old one, but it is nice. I will return because it is a good place to see a band. I haven't been here on a non-Splintered night in about a year, but it is full of college students those nights.
