4 Suyos Peruvian Cuisine

Best ceviche ever! Adorable, polite, and knowledgeable waitstaff. BYOB. Takes reservations. Fast service. Huge portions. Reasonable prices. Bread basket. Need I say more??

This is a tiny place, the owner's wife served us and in between cooking our dinners the owner himself was having some beers in the dining room with his friends while his mother folded napkins.  The owner's wife was incredibly knowledgable about her husband's culture's food (too many possessive's, sorry).  So I would say that to call this place authentic is as much of an understatement as a non-controversial statement can be.

We ordered the Sudado de Pescado, which I was lukewarm on, but its fish so thats hardly shocking.  But the Clasico, Churrasco a lo Pobre, Antichucos (beef heart) and empanadas were amazing. The Papa Rellena was some word more amazing than amazing (I really should've gotten a thesaurus before I started this Yelp binge).

The second time around should be better, right?  Unfortunately, for me it wasn't.  I first dined at 4 Suyos in October 2012.  At that time, I was impressed with their food, service and, loved that it was BYOB.  My friend and I had an order of empanadas and a leche de tigre.  Both were solid.  Our wine made everything better.  I had fond memories of the lomo saltado and couldn't wait to come back.  This past weekend my partner and I ordered delivery.  I again had the lomo saltado and he had the churrasco a lo pobre.  I couldn't wait for him to finally try 4 Suyos but then I tasted my dish.  The lomo saltado didn't live up to the first one I had.  The meat was overcooked and salty.  I was disappointed.  I asked my partner about his dish, and he was underwhelmed.  He didn't understand why I was so excited about this place.  His meat was tough and overcooked.  I will say that the rice is cooked perfectly.  Maybe it was because we had it for take out?  I'm going to give them one more shot and dine in soon.  I'm happy to have them in neighborhood and want to support them for as long as their around.  I hope the third time's a charm.
