I know this isn't a fancy schmancy kind of a place but that is the exact reason why I always feel like walking to this bar when I feel like a drink or some human interaction. I had a conversation with the owner who seems like a really cool guy. The draft selection is pretty decent and they offer Jello shots late night at a discount on weekends. The bar menu is very reasonably priced and food is served until midnight even on a Sunday. There is a pool table and although it is a small joint they have made good use of the space so there's plenty of room to sit. This is a good bar if you are younger and looking to meet or talk to people. Music can be a tad loud for my taste sometimes but It's not enough to keep me away!
Review Source:My hubby and I live in Malden and have never been to this bar - crazy right. It was st pattys weekend and we were lookin for a local place to grab a quick drink and head back home to our kids. We got there around 8ish and of course there weren't many folks there. I take it all 5 of the ppl there were regulars. there was one guy was at the bar maybe in his 60's or so and he was extremely friendly - unlike most maldeneers. he and my husband started chatting up about the game on tv and were instant buddies. the guy even ordered a pizza and offered us some. although we didn't talk to much to the bartender, she seemed to have a really cool personality and knew her drinks lol. we would really like to go back during high tide hours to check out that scene. will mos def be back.
Review Source:I'm just gonna get this out of the way now, reviewing bars in Malden is much harder than necessary because well, it's Malden. Why I gave it 4 stars is because on Tuesday nights when there's nothing going on I might pop by the No. 9 and grab a drink or two knowing the bartender Lauren will be there that day to make phenomenal drinks and keep us entertained in between (even if it is at my expense at seeing her bewilderment over a haircut that involves cutting 10 inches off but that's another story) . Other than my own foolishness mixing my regular drinks up, previously there'd be a SoCo sour and a Captain and Coke waiting at the bar once she sees us outside. That's 4 stars right there. So no, I really don't plan on hitting this place up on a Friday night or any other time there's a cover charge or some other silliness that only a bar on Malden has to offer but if it's Tuesday and I'm wanting for somewhere to go you can prolly assume where I'll be...
Review Source:Nice little pub on Ferry Street.
It was open on Thanksgiving Day this year. They also didn't tell us to leave cause of my bf's brother's sweatpants, like the other Irish place in Everett. We were welcomed to a quiet bar, and offered any drinks we wanted, showed the specials, and asked if we would like to play pool.
The bartender was the owner. He was cool as hell. Told us he would rearrange the pool table, if that was what we were into. We instead spent a great deal of time playing "Bags" which is a horribly addictive game, that probably makes bars a great deal of money. We were able to come and go to smoke butts as we pleased, and it was open late enough for the rest of our group of friends to make it out after their dinner plans finally ended.
All in all my experience at this bar was fantastic. There are enough bathrooms for everybody, everything is well marked, and outside - well lit. I definitely say skip the bar in Everett with too many door guys, and head over to No 9. It'll be the best thing you can do in Everett, in my humble opinion.
The newest incarnation of the bar on Ferry Street. Has had several names, such as O'Keefe's. I'm not a big fan of this place. It might be a little better with the new name, but not by much. The regulars here are an acquired taste, but it might be worth checking it out. It's a bit different than other bars in the Malden Square area.
