Adrian's Restaurant

We had high hopes for this place because my partner's cousin, who we were visiting,  lives in the area and knows the owner. It was a total let down. Although very, very  sweet the server wasn't knowledgeable about the menu and didn't know the wines AT ALL. The food was pedestrian at best. Very poor presentation. One of our party ordered the chicken, which was so salty he could barely eat it. Sadly they are positioning themselves with other better restaurants by charging hefty fees for entrees. One of the reasons we went was because of the view of the bay from the dining patio, but it was obscured by overgrown bushes and trees. Not a pleasant meal. There are some comparably priced places in Wellfleet and Truro that beat this.

Eating at Adrians was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had.  When we entered the restaurant, the hostess (who turned out to be the owner/manager) offered seating inside or outside.  Usually we would have chosen to eat inside, but due to the fact there was no A/C and it was very hot, we decided to eat outside.  When we expressed our concern about mosquitos, the hostess assured us the area was screened in and offered us bug spray...strange.  Within minutes of sitting down, we were bitten by mosquitos.  We asked to sit in the inside room to get away from the bugs and were directed to a table about 2 feet from the open door.  When a staff member saw us swatting at mosquitos again, she came over and commented that this was because we were sweating.  Again, we were offered bug spray.  After another round of mosquito bites, we asked to move again.  We wanted to move to the bar area, which was furthest from the "screened in" area.  But, the manager wouldn't let us and directed us to a table further inside the restaurant.  Again, within minutes, we were being attacked by mosquitos.  The appetizers were awful.  The flatbread was undercooked and tasteless.  The cod dip was sour and gross.  The oysters were small and sandy.  When ordering our dinner, we found out that they were out of one of the items and told that ribs were a special and very good.  We ordered two rib specials, a hamburger and cod cakes and beans. The meal took forever to arrive.  During the hour wait for the meal, we killed a number of mosquitos that left blood stains on the wall.  A staff member awkwardly removed a bug off of the tablecloth when serving our drinks.  We overheard a disagreement between the cook and waitress about an order that was overcooked.  About a half hour after we placed our order, we were told there were no beans to go with the cod cakes.  When the food finally came out of the kitchen, our friends who ordered ribs received a chicken leg and a scoop of pulled pork...and were asked if that was okay since ribs were actually not on the menu.  We were so dumbfounded, we were left without a response.  The burger also tasted sour.  We asked for the manager as we just wanted to leave.  The manager came over and was informed about the rib confusion.  Her response was, "Well, what is wrong with the chicken?"  We responded, "It doesn't really matter - we didn't order chicken!"  We waited for 20 minutes for our check, which had the 3 entrees removed, but had one appetizer rung in twice.  Once that was fixed, we piad over $130 for drinks, tasteless appetizers, mosquito bites and aggravation.  The serving staff was friendly.  The response from the owner/manager/hostess was rudeness and confrontation.  She implied we were freeloading and never even once apologized.  It was beyond a nightmare!

I was looking forward to coming here based on reviews and <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbostonchefs.com&s=5be886b7b82787d45fb1f99cc61ac25865cacc71b22c2efbea7642813aa93a11" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bostonchefs.com</a> write up. but the food was allright, nothing to write home about, the service was the same, and they wouldn't make me anything vegan (nothing vegan on menu and the waiter kindly told me, "the kitchen doesn't accept substitutions." really? b/c i thought this was a respectable restaurant and not friendly's but whatever....). none of us were impressed. i'm sad we wasted a meal on the cape on this place.
