We had high hopes for this place because my partner's cousin, who we were visiting, lives in the area and knows the owner. It was a total let down. Although very, very sweet the server wasn't knowledgeable about the menu and didn't know the wines AT ALL. The food was pedestrian at best. Very poor presentation. One of our party ordered the chicken, which was so salty he could barely eat it. Sadly they are positioning themselves with other better restaurants by charging hefty fees for entrees. One of the reasons we went was because of the view of the bay from the dining patio, but it was obscured by overgrown bushes and trees. Not a pleasant meal. There are some comparably priced places in Wellfleet and Truro that beat this.
Review Source:Eating at Adrians was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. Â When we entered the restaurant, the hostess (who turned out to be the owner/manager) offered seating inside or outside. Â Usually we would have chosen to eat inside, but due to the fact there was no A/C and it was very hot, we decided to eat outside. Â When we expressed our concern about mosquitos, the hostess assured us the area was screened in and offered us bug spray...strange. Â Within minutes of sitting down, we were bitten by mosquitos. Â We asked to sit in the inside room to get away from the bugs and were directed to a table about 2 feet from the open door. Â When a staff member saw us swatting at mosquitos again, she came over and commented that this was because we were sweating. Â Again, we were offered bug spray. Â After another round of mosquito bites, we asked to move again. Â We wanted to move to the bar area, which was furthest from the "screened in" area. Â But, the manager wouldn't let us and directed us to a table further inside the restaurant. Â Again, within minutes, we were being attacked by mosquitos. Â The appetizers were awful. Â The flatbread was undercooked and tasteless. Â The cod dip was sour and gross. Â The oysters were small and sandy. Â When ordering our dinner, we found out that they were out of one of the items and told that ribs were a special and very good. Â We ordered two rib specials, a hamburger and cod cakes and beans. The meal took forever to arrive. Â During the hour wait for the meal, we killed a number of mosquitos that left blood stains on the wall. Â A staff member awkwardly removed a bug off of the tablecloth when serving our drinks. Â We overheard a disagreement between the cook and waitress about an order that was overcooked. Â About a half hour after we placed our order, we were told there were no beans to go with the cod cakes. Â When the food finally came out of the kitchen, our friends who ordered ribs received a chicken leg and a scoop of pulled pork...and were asked if that was okay since ribs were actually not on the menu. Â We were so dumbfounded, we were left without a response. Â The burger also tasted sour. Â We asked for the manager as we just wanted to leave. Â The manager came over and was informed about the rib confusion. Â Her response was, "Well, what is wrong with the chicken?" Â We responded, "It doesn't really matter - we didn't order chicken!" Â We waited for 20 minutes for our check, which had the 3 entrees removed, but had one appetizer rung in twice. Â Once that was fixed, we piad over $130 for drinks, tasteless appetizers, mosquito bites and aggravation. Â The serving staff was friendly. Â The response from the owner/manager/hostess was rudeness and confrontation. Â She implied we were freeloading and never even once apologized. Â It was beyond a nightmare!
Review Source:I was looking forward to coming here based on reviews and http://bostonchefs.com write up. but the food was allright, nothing to write home about, the service was the same, and they wouldn't make me anything vegan (nothing vegan on menu and the waiter kindly told me, "the kitchen doesn't accept substitutions." really? b/c i thought this was a respectable restaurant and not friendly's but whatever....). none of us were impressed. i'm sad we wasted a meal on the cape on this place.
Review Source:We have been eating at Adrians for over 10 years and made a reservation for out of town guests since we love the view and the food had been reliablty good. When we made the reservation, we were NOT Â told that there was a POP UP using the space for the summer. This POP UP is over reaching its ability and the food was not particularly good. We were given our menus and the waiter returned 20 min later when we had picked out our dinner choices and then were told the kitchen had run out of 3 of the 6 entrees! Would have been nice to let us know when we first sat down. We were disappointed and will not return.
Review Source:Based on the outstanding reviews, we came here for breakfast all the way from South Wellfleet. It was pretty good, but not as good as reviews had me hope. If I were in the neighborhood I would stop again, but it's not worth the drive from S. Wellfleet.
Pretty much your basic breakfast fair. Decent coffee, good eggs and good pancakes. Maybe a little overpriced.
VERY disappointing bloody mary.
Went there last night for dinner with a gorup of friends. We were trying it on the reccomendation of a regular. The restaurant itself was very unasuming, so much that it was a bit on the cheap looking side. The plastic moulded chairs for outdoor dining are never a favorite of mine, especially when you're paying these prices. We ate inside and still were attacked my mosquitos constantly. Not fun to be doing during the whole dinner.. kinda gross when the waitress slaps one against the light yellow wall ugh... tasty..
The food was nothing special. Â For starters: The greens salad with seawater vinagrette was ok.. standard fare. Â The roasted meatballs were really good. Â Great flavor and sauce. Â The Pizza was good as well, but nothing special. Â Stadard fare.. Â The ceviche was actualy nice, but others disagreed.
I had the skirt steak and it was fatty, tough, and not cooked to order...(red cool center is not medium). The scallops were delicous. Nice portion and great sauce. My freind enjoyed his chicken.
Dinner eneded up being $55 per person without drinks. To make the trek out to Truro and pay PTown fancy meal prices, I was expecting a whole lot more. I'd reccomed Edwidge, Mews, Jimmys' before driving out there.
We were really looking forward to the "Pop-up" experience of EAT at Adrian's this summer as my wife and I have both been fans Will Gilson's restaurants. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. To put it short, something was just amiss with the whole meal. On the plus side, The restaurant itself is set inside a motel and is unassuming, but on entrance you will note that that the restaurant is a bit beyond a low key motel. The dining room decor has a bit of outer cape flair and a large deck just out one side of the room. Eat outside if you can, the deck has a good vibe and a great view of Cape Cod Bay. The menu for the Pop-Up is creative and got us very exited for the evening. On the minus, service was really off and that may be attributed to the fact that there were only two servers who looked to be covering more than 20 tables. This made the dining experience a bit delayed and off. Food was going to the wrong tables and their were long delays in service. In tune with this and perhaps because of the service issues the food did not seem to be executed to the level that one would expect. We both had calamari appetizers and fish entrees (Cod & Striped Bass) The Striped Bass was over roasted and dry and the calamari was a bit different than explained (but still rather good). In general, the EAT Pop-Up at Adrian's shows a lot of promise if the production can fire on all cylinders, perhaps tonight it just did not.
Review Source:For the P-town area, this is good food. That said, it's in a motel. And one of the entrees was a miss for reasons that a perfect five restaurant would not have permitted (overcooked pasta). Still, the fish charcuterie was amazing. So was the desert. Service was perfect. Note: this is a "pop-up" restaurant; "Eats" at Adrian's is here for the summer. So the reviews that are on the fabulous side may not apply once it goes back to being just Adrian's.
Review Source:I can't wait to go back! Â Dare I try something new or stick to the tuna that was basically perfection?!
We had a dinner for 8 at Adrian's--lots of apps, drinks, and dinner. The view was really nice with ocean in the distance.
Beets!
I love beets and order them all the time but when they came in 3 colors, a succulent sauce and ... pistachios.... I was REALLY happy. My tuna was love at first bite. The green and white presentation of local and seasonal veggies and herbs gave it a modern look. The rich taste of the puree underneath sealed the deal.
Others raved about the chicken and the cod. Â My husband was not as fond of his dish, the squid ink pasta, as he thought it was a bit bland.
The kids menu was great and a step up in quality/creativity from the typical kids menu-- the fettuccine and meatballs were a hit with my daughter.
We look forward to going back in a few weeks when we're back at the Cape!
I loved my experience at Adrian's! Although the patio was so tempting (the view!), a few friends and I sat at their new bar and had some drinks and yummy food.
The bartender was awesomely unbelievable. He was very knowledgeable about his martinis, mixed drinks, and wines. He appeared to be really excited about drinks and his job- which I always take as a good sign. The drink list had some martinis and cocktails I'd never seen before- so I did some exploring! I tried a few different drinks and each drink was so clean and well balanced. I was impressed! Even a few days later, I find myself still thinking about this one martini with lavender (mmmm).
My friends and I got a few apps and meals, which we shared. I can never say no oysters and I was delighted that theirs came with 3 delish sauces. I can't remember exactly what was in them, but I know one had beats- which I don't even like, but I could have drank that sauce. For dinner we ate the duck, pork loin, and steak. Wow. wow. wow. The pork was super moist..The duck dish was deliciously complex and the steak and potatoes- well, let me just say I don't know what that chef did to the potatoes, but I couldn't stop eating them.. I am going back for more of those, as well as that martini.
Didn't get a chance to try dessert, but I am excited for my next visit to see what they offer there!
Wow, the new Adrian's is fantastic. Â Always had a wonderful view, but now the food is off the charts fantastic. Â Chef Will Gillis is going to be very popular with the outer cape's foodie crowd. Â All freshest ingredients (herbs from their own garden, locally caught seafood), beautifully prepared.
My friend and i shared most everything. Â The salad with torn herbs and sea water based dressing - simple, but wonderful. Â The fish charcuterie, was so good. Â Can't recall all of the methods used for preparing the fish for this appetizer, there was a blue fish for spreading on the extra crisp bread, a pickled scallop, sliced very thin, a cured salmon, pickled fiddle heads, pickled sunflower root and one other fish that i cannot recall. Â The entire dish was wonderful, every bite.
Dinner for me was the seared halibut with petite vegetables - peas, which i hate, but were amazing, fiddle heads (again) that i can't get enough of and am sad the season is so short, and a cumin bread which was like corn bread in texture but with some heat from the cumin. Â My friend had the Lobster Special, which sadly i cannot recall how it was prepared and he selfishly kept all to himself.
Wines are on the pricey side for me, with all over $30 / bottle and most costing more than $40. Â We had a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir for $34, organically grown and delicious.
Overall, a wonderful experience, great food, well-priced, can't wait to go back! Â (if you are going to eat outside, which you should - bring bug spray!).
Look at the rooms of the adjoining motel,it will give you an idea about the food, the cheapest quality everything. When a Motel says "pet friendly" that means dogs and cats will be sleeping on the beds and chairs. This motel has paper bath mats, just an idea about the quality of provisions in you motel room.
Review Source:a little off the beaten path, which i liked, and in the same price range as most ptown offerings for a bit better quality, which i also enjoyed. the dates with gorgonzola and bacon were very well executed (but also hard to mess up, i'd imagine), and there were only three per order. i suppose being health-conscious is good. the salads were fresh and nicely done. the pepper on the table could've been fresh ground instead of shaker. the parmesan was good, and the bread was good. the polenta scampi pizza was okay. not so bad!
reasonable views, but bordering a highway.
Great food and they are truly pet-friendly. We had a great dinner there and our dog was able to sit at the table with us. Dogs can come in through the restaurant and sit on their outdoor (covered and screened in) deck. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely eat here the next time we're in the area.
Review Source:Ok, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars. Â Went here for breakfast. Â Anything you order comes with a large bottle of pure maple syrup. Â And the food looks great - almost as compelling as Ball Square Cafe, with huge amounts of fruit piled high on your plate - kiwi, strawberries, plums, peaches, canteloupe, blueberries, grapes, etc.
The only problem is that one of my strawberries had mold on it. Â Good thing I caught that before eating it. Â I was willing to forgive that oversight, just write it off as a one time thing. Â But then I saw my canteloupe had a huge swath of mold growing on it. Â
I guess I think if someone is a good chef and really cares about what they serve you, they check the food first to make sure it is good enough for them to eat themselves.
But it all looked great, even if on closer inspection it was enough to make you nauseous.
The staff was extra friendly, and true to what you'd expect at a restaurant higher scale in truro than your typical family place in Eastham, all the staff were really friendly and attractive.
I feel bad for giving them 3 stars because they were so accomodating and helpful. Â It's just two pieces of moldy fruit is enough to make you lose confidence in the kitchen. Sorry.
This place is GORGEOUS! I have told myself over and over that I WILL have my wedding reception here one day! The food is fantastic and the view is amazing(overlooking the wonderful cape cod bay). Â My family has gone here countless amounts of times and we love it more every time we go. Such a great atmosphere.
