Some shows over others. The biggest disappointment with Live At Five is how big it has become to residents of the region that the Thursday night events have outgrown the Columbus Park Plaza. Â While an amazing concept for the restaurants, thought has to be given to moving the event across the street to Mill River Park once its completed to Broad Street at Mill River Street. Â It would put the Summer and Bedford Street restaurants on an even platform to compete for customers. Â Set up a great food court for the concerts and move them to a Friday or Saturday night. Then on those nights shut down traffic from Summer Street, Bedford Street and Columbus Park to allow for post concert outdoor dining. Just my thoughts..
The City of Stamford does an exceptional job putting on these events and its a highlight of living in Stamford. Â Spending Summers dining outside listening to amazing music, how could it be anything but great. Â With a few changes, they can make Alive at Five into a world class event. Â
As to Alive At Five overcrowding, the city makes strong strides at crowd control yet there was a time you could sit on a beach chair or blanket and listen to amazing music, that has transitioned to Jazz Wednesdays which have been the events of the season with this weeks Al Jarreau to end it on a very positive note.. Â
Foreigner is the final act on Thursday and I'm going to avoid it this year as thecrowd will be immense plus the fact that the band is no longer fronted by Lou Graam but by Mick Jones who just doesn't sound the same....
Have enjoyed many great bands over the years and I'm not going to go through them all. Here's a link to the shows over the years at Alive at Five : Â http://bit.ly/PdDYk8 Â (My favorites were the Radiators, Blues Traveller, Rusted Root, The Beach Boys and an amazing set from 16 Frames.
