Stopped here for a night cap as we were staying at a motel in the area. Â It's a pretty standard sports bar. Â They seemingly have a lot of clientele who like to play country music on the jukebox. Â Not my thing but whatever. Â
There were a lot of really drunk meat head types in here, but then again we were in there near closing time, so that's not really surprising. Â We also got hit on by a local who didn't understand or care that we were a couple and not interested in him at all. Â Keep in mind we were literally minding our own business, sipping on beers, and doing nothing to provoke his interest. Â Yuck!
There is a grill in Angelino's, but we didn't try the food. Â Standard American beers are standard prices. Â Nothing really special about this bar sticks out. Â Just an average place to buy an average drink.
One of the drunks I work with found this place. I always thought it was just a restaurant. But they have a bar and grill located in the basement. They have drink specials everyday and some pretty good bar food. It has never been to crowded when we go so service is good and drinks can be strong. Not a bad thing. If your in the area this is a good place to stop. I have never eaten at the restaurant but from what I hear I should try.
Review Source:the sports bar & grill in the basement is decent. good food, drinks, occasional entertainment or karaoke on the weekends. good place to go with friends. I've also stopped by here on the weekdays for lunch.
the main dining room is now Chef Paul's, a steakhouse/chophouse. the food is pretty good. you get a "relish tray, I'm always a fan of those. the service is good.
upstairs in the banquet room. I had my wedding reception here about 2 years ago. we picked it because it was a good size for our guest list (around 125 people showed up), the food was good and the decor wasn't overdone and outdated like many banquet halls. plus, I liked that there was a bar downstairs in case guests got to the reception early, or for the smokers (but now that the ban is in effect, they have to go outside). I would recommend this spot of smallish weddings (125 people or fewer). the banquet managers were also very easy to work with.
A friend of mine stopped by this place after a concert at the World (or whatever they are it calling now) and won a contest that night for a "party" for her and 10 friends to get in free and drink for free for 2 hours. She invited us and when we got there, the ladies all got in no problem but the guys had to still pay cover. They said "guys are never free, sorry." We were all pissed but we eventually just said "fine whatever" and went to get our free drinks which ended up being coke with a drop of rum in it or watered down Miller. What a terrible night. The place is just where all college students go when they are back in town or have just graduated.
Review Source:Since I'm annoyed with having to be at work today, I decided to take a break to write random reviews for businesses in my hometown :) This is one of them. Â I think as far as bars in this area go, its not too shabby (certainly beats going to Morgans/the bowling alley and running into everyone I went to high school with- or maybe they've finally moved on, who knows), especially because they have karaoke every time I've been there, which is great, because its filled with old suburbanites, and I don't care if they like my singing! Now that the smoking ban is in effect in Illinois, this would also remove my major complaint about this bar - it was crazy smokey in there! They make strong drinks though and seem to always have something on special (I've generally been here with my siblings and hometown friends, and they rarely leave that place anything less than super drunk)
I'm not saying you should bother leaving the city for this place, but if you find yourself in the southwest suburbs and need a place to drink and sing to your heart's content, this place may be for you (it is also fairly conveniently located off of I80 :))
I can't attest to the food, although I know the upstairs is a restaurant- I've never been in there though because you get to the bar by a sidedoor going down to the basement- sounds shady, I know :))
