I can't believe the good reviews here!!! Â I went here last night because we drove a ways and Little Saigon (Much better) was closed. Â Huge mistake! Â My boyfriend and I "ate" here last night. We had an order of the spring rolls... Flavorless. Unless oil is a flavor. Oily and disgusting. I took one bite and I was over it. Â We already ordered a bowl of pho each before we tasted the disgusting grease tube they called a spring roll... It was the worst pho either of us has ever had, and we are both world traveling foodies. Â I pulled out a giant pile of fatty grey beef? Â Then I tried to just eat the broth, terrible. Watery and oily a strange feat to accomplish but they managed. Â I took about 4 bites before I tapped out. My boyfriend, not so lucky. He ended biting into what he described as a rancid fishy octopus tentacle (yes, in his pho). Â At that point we just wanted to get out of there. We paid, which we shouldn't have, and got the hell out of there. Service was bad too. Had to ask for water and our server sat a table away from us watching TV. Â He never checked on us and completely ignored us. All around one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a VERY long time.
Review Source:Good as it gets in terms of hoagies. NEVER eaten here, but their Viet hoagies surpass all others, including all of metro Philly!!! Get the grilled pork...it'll knock your socks off. SO delicious...heading out right now for another one. AND the price is right. Waiting for my hoagie, the pho looks outstanding! Can't wait to give IT a try.
Review Source:Ok so I had been holding off on this review for quite some times, because #1 I like to give a business several trips prior to making a review like I usually do. #2, because a part of me is hesitant in exposing what I love to the world. Because of the horde of hipsters and foodies which could descend and destroy what I love. But no longer...
When you come to this place veterans of Vietnamese cuisine are reminded of why they fell in love with Vietnamese cuisine a long time ago. Bold flavors that takes your taste bud for a ride through bitter, sweet, salty, spicy, sour, and the 6th flavor that Chinese call Xian... Anh Hong hits the right note like a perfectly orchestrated symphony for your tongue, and leaves you wanting more despite your stomach praying for mercy so it doesn't explode.
For those who want to enter in the foray of Vietnamese cuisine, there is no finer place than here. Pho which is always the entry level dish for anyone attempting the feat, is not intimidating at all. The broth is clear, clean, and vibrant. The Noodles simplified and firm. The condiments are fresh and tastes sharp. It is something which anyone could fall in love with, and if thats not enough just look up at the paintings of the beautiful scenery, women, and imagery of Vietnam and be transported.
Their Banh Mi here is out of sight, and yes they do the deluxe version which is the addition of a sexy over easy egg. The way the yolk oozes on to the ham, cilantro, jalapenos, and find its final resting place between the pate and crispy bread? I would kill hordes of hipsters for this, well ok I don't really need a reason.
So find you way to Anh Hong, and if you run in to me say hi from a safe distance. Because if you're within my feeding frenzy radius, body parts tend to go missing in a blur of spoon and chopsticks.
This is officially my favorite vietnamese restaurant in the area. Â I keep going back there for their Pho. Â Fast service. Â The broth is really good. Â The only thing stopping me from giving them 5 stars is their portion size. Â I would have liked a little more noodles in my Pho, but for the price, it is still great. Â I would definitely go back again and again.
Review Source:Nice little spot in Upper Darby (parking sucks though). Â Pho was good, very generous with the meat. Â Only thing lacking was fat brisket (my personal favorite). Â Bowls look small, but with the generous portion of meat (or possibly because I had two summer rolls) was quite filling. Â Summer rolls were a bit dry, as if they had been sitting out for a while? Â Didn't get a chance to try the banh mi, but heard good things; so I'm hoping to try them next time. Â Overall, good experience.
Review Source:It's what a Vietnamese restaurant should be: fast an accurate service, quality food, and reasonable prices. You can't really get that anywhere but Philly and I enjoy the "quick hit" Viet cuisine to cure the appetite. Food selection is decent, but the pho is par at best. Service is quick and accommodating but don't expect it to be warm an heart felt. Â After all, you're there to order , eat, and get on moving. One gripe I have would be the ghetto mats duct taped to the floors.
Review Source:Great for lunch!  Has good bubble tea, service and food!  I love there Vietnamese hoagies here.  I always get the grilled chicken and put a lot of hot sauce on it!! ;p  I love their spring rolls.  They are crispy and much different from the usually.  The skin texture is different..  Its a nice little place if you are in the area or coming from H-mart!
Review Source:Anh Hong Pho is pretty decent. Â Its in a convenient location next to H-Mart. Â So its good to grab a quick meal after shopping for groceries. Â The parking can be kind of a pain though. Â And this place has like a $15 credit card minimum. Â Its annoying, so make sure you bring cash.
The beef pho here is hit or miss. Â Some days it can be really good, other days very mediocre. Â The broth can sometimes be too oily. Â The noodles are sometimes too chewy. Â And sometimes they give too little amount of noodles. Â They give plenty of meat though, and the meats are usually very good. Â Get all the meats, but avoid getting the flank, its very fatty. Â Overall, the pho is still decent. Â Not a bad deal for less than 7 bucks.
I've tried some of their vermicelli dishes before and they are excellent. Â Better than most places.
The best thing they have here that I've tried IMO is the ban mi pork sandiwiches. Â They are so tasty, and good enough for a lunch portion. Â And its only $3.50!
Overall, this place is good for its price. Â Not the best, but I'm happy most of the time I leave there.
Not the best Vietnamese place, but its the closest for me, so whenever I am craving pho I usually stop by for a quick meal.
I have tried several dishes here and have to say its good. Â The pho here is good but sometimes the broth is watered down with water just so they can survive the day with one pot, so detracts from the full flavor that makes the pho good. Â The vermicelli (bun) is good and doesn't disappoint. Â If you live in the area and are too tired to go into the city I would recommend this place.
I have been going her for awhile now and I love the PHO! It was here that I tried my first bowl and I am glad. It's very authentic and delicious. It.s the closest place to me, with that being said it is probably my second or third favorite in the whole Phil area.
Ii love that they have a shrimp Pho with no other meats. I say this because if you go to Washington Ave. and get Pho, you have to specifically ask for Shrimp Pho. The shrimp versions they have on the menu have other seafood and or meats.
It is jumbo shrimp, which I prefer and it's fresh and delicious. Their beef pho is also declicous and authentic. Â They give you the most sides than any other place I've been, a plate with a TON of sprouts, basil, mint , peppers and lime.
It's very affordable, which is an added bonus. The service is pretty consistent. Â I also love the Vietnamese hoagies, a great size and the rice paper summer rolls!
I will continue going, its a great affordable and huge meal. very satisfying!
In my opinion, this is the best PHO in the Philly area. Â My favorite is #44 thin sliced beef. Â It is piping hot, savory, spicy, and will cure a cold! With all of the typical acoutraments, this PHO is anything but typical. The ingredients are fresh and delicious, and you may taylor your PHO to your liking with the generous portions of basil, limes, and sprouts. The vegetable spring rolls are another favorite. Crispy and fresh, they accompany the PHO quite well. The avocado shake is amazing and I've never found anything like it anywhere else! Â Creamy, light, and soothing, the avocado shake at Cafe Anh Hong will have you coming back for more. Give it a second after your first sip to get used to the thought of drinking an avocado, and then you'll be hooked! Â Go hungry because the portions are always generous! The friendly staff makes Cafe Anh Hong the perfect spot for a casual and relaxed lunch (or dinner!).
Review Source:This is the closest pho place to me, and thank goodness for that! Pho is a great meal for any weather, any mood, and best when hungover! Love this Vietnamese noodle soup! I've been to Little Saigon around the corner before, but was not impressed. Anh Hong is a hidden gem, comparable to the S. Philly pho places, but much closer to me!
Service is fast, but can be iffy. Sometimes I get hot tea, sometimes I don't. My go-to pho is #48, and their vermicelli dishes and spring rolls are also very good. Parking is not great, but there's street parking and a lot across the restaurant.
The food here is not bad I would have give them 4 stars if it wasn't for a recent incident I encounter with them:( I ordered a cup of jelly milk tea with no ice and less jelly. But when I get the milk tea, she gave me a whole half cup worth of ice! Then I asked her to change it because I didn't want ice, so she start to scoop out ice from my cup. For some reason, while scooping out the ice from my cup, she was pouring some milk tea down the drain. WOW I WAS STUNNED:( Then she handed me a half-cup of jelly milk tea and told me that they measure everything(like the amount of liqiud they put in there). You mean all this time I've been paying $3.50 for a half cup of milk tea? I also am working in the restaurant business and never gave my customers half-cup of anything! IF A CUSTOMER ASK FOR NO ICE OF SOMETHING, I WOULD STILL GIVE THEM A FULL CUP AND MAYBE CHARGE A LITTLE MORE THAN USUAL IF THERE'S MEASUREMENT INVOLVED!
Review Source:After reading all the raves about Little Saigon around the corner, we tried it and were terribly disappointed,  as we live in Bala Cynwyd, Chinatown is really closer than Upper Darby,  but sometimes the lure of no Schuylkill traffic and guaranteed cheap (or free on Sunday) parking meters makes Delaware County look attractive.  We were thinking of checking out the food court at the H-Mart (the PHENOMENAL international supermarket) on Terminal Square, when we noticed this Pho joint right next door.  We are not huge fans of Pho, but their menu had all the traditional Vietnamese dishes you'd find locally so we gave it a shot.  As we were saving our appetites for  a large Father's day grill fest, we kept the orders light.  A double order of crisp spring rolls ($3.25 / serving) provided three halved portions (just right for me, wife and son.)  served piping hot, the texture was divine, and the pork / mushroom filling was in just the right proportion.  We missed the daikon typically served with these, but dipped the julienne carrots in the tasty sauce  which we livened up with the Siracha.
Wife and son had bun (rice vermicelli) with charcoal-grilled pork and shrimp respectively. (6-8 bucks.) Â Huge portions and no skimping on fresh ingredients. Â I am a sucker for Banh Mi, Vietnamese hoagies, and their version came steaming hot. Â Fresh light french bread stuffed with charcoal-grilled pork, julienne carrot, cilantro, jalapenos with the lightest touch of mayo. Most of these are around $3.50 Â Grilled Chicken Banh Mi top out around $6, but there are a number of delicious $3.50 options. Â if I were planning a party, a basket of these bad boys would be an economical way to fill a lot of bellies.
It's not often we walk out of a lunch spot dropping 25 bucks. Â We were pretty happy pups. Â The place was full of natives (all eating pho.) Popular versions were served with thin slices of raw beef to be cooked in the hot broth. Â Next time I find myself hungover I'll try the damned pho. Â Â Service is polite and fast, and they understand English perfectly.
Terminal Square is becoming a great dining destination. Â This place has one of the most extensive Vietnamese menus I have ever seen. Â Started meal of with an old standard (shrimp and vermicelli spring rolls) and they were as good as I have had anywhere. Â Moved on to the grilled squid, which was fantastic - instead of usual rubbery squid it was smooth and melted in my mouth. Â The treat was the goat curry soup - vermicelli thin egg noodles, curry broth and lots of goat served with a mountain of fresh sprouts, a couple lime wedges, and sliced jalapeno. Â Decent service and food arrived quickly. Reasonably priced (would take effort and an appetite to spend $20). I will definitely return.
Review Source:This place was pretty fast with coming out with the orders. There were 4 of us, 2 got the bun thit nuong cha gio, 1 bo kho and 1 bun rieu and it was placed on our table in/around 10 minutes.
Before we got our check, we also ordered their banh mi to go, which turned out to be pretty OK but they did take their sweet time making them (10+ mins)...which I didn't particularly understand but whatever.
Prices are slightly bit steeper than what you'd find in the city but it's not bad. I'm not sure how I feel about the service, it's probably one of those hit or miss things.
This would be a good place to go after you're done shopping at H-Mart and happen to not be in the mood for some good ol' korean dishes.
This lone Vietnamese place fills a culinary gap in Upper Darby.
They make tasty pho, comforting and inexpensive, with decent-sized meat chunks (if you're of a mind). The broth isn't the best I've had but you can't beat the convenience and speed of their kitchen.
Best of all, you can order their pho to go, noodles and fixings all neatly packed for your pleasure.
I'm usually not a fan of Upper Darby restaurants. Â Let's face it; they can be in some pretty dicey areas, especially at night. Â I'll make an exception for this place. Â The vermicelli dishes are excellent. Â And of course the pho is to die for. Â Service is incredibly efficient and finally the place is cheap. Â You can have a great meal for $7. Â Stop by on a weekend and try this place for lunch. Â You won't regret it.
Review Source:I've only been to this place for take-out. I would stop in and place my order and than pick-up after my shopping trip at the H-Mart. The food is good and I have never gotten the wrong order. So, I would recommend this place for a quick fix. Especially during the noon lunch hours. lol. The banh mi is good and the rest of the to go snacks. The drinks tasted good too. Can't complain! Would recommend everyone to try this place. Clean and friendly staff.
Review Source:This place is not bad for being far from the Vietnamese side of town, def one of my go-to's for a quick fix.
The regular banh mi here is okay. The bread isn't as great as others I've tasted and it could have more meat (and the pickled daikon or whatever that is), but the flavors are okay. They're good about the paté, which I appreciate, although towards the end of my hoagie I was eating pretty much paté on bread. The banh mi with the BBQ pork is good, too.
I've also tried the broken rice dishes - kind of hard to get this wrong, really, unless you overcook your protein. The dish comes with all the standard sides - the weird fish/egg omelet and noodles, veggies, fish sauce (they give you a good amount), and so on.
I was a little saddened that their Vietnamese coffee was more ice than anything else, but overall, it's a decent spot to try if you're looking for something in this area.
I. Love. This. Place. Seriously excellent Pho (I get 38, the Char Broiled Chicken over noodles). I'm here about 2-3 times a month. Quality is just as good as Vietnam Cafe (which I also LOVE) but it's cheaper. My girlfriends gets this goat curry thing which has HUGE chunks of goat and bone, but she loves it (number 41 I think it is). Bubble tea here is awesome. Staff is always super friendly. Parking is bitch but it's convenient (right next to H Mart). You have to bring your bill up to the register to pay- they don't come back and take your money (as I learned).
Review Source:So I come here every time I visit the dentist in order to make myself feel better because who likes getting cavities filled? Â This, in combination with the H Mart, is an acceptable consolation. Â I always get my dishes to go and they have everything ready for me when I return from my grocery shopping excursion next door (almost). Â I always get the Bun Thit Nuong (dish of charbroiled pork chop laid on a bed of vermicelli noodles. It is then topped with bean sprouts, mint, shredded lettuce, cucumbers, and crushed peanuts.) and bun bo hue (spicy beef pho). Â The pork chop is very tender, flavorful and nicely marinated, and the bun bo hue is spicy and not overly greasy (like some other places). Â The prices are slightly higher than those in South Philly, but still reasonable (6.50-13.00 for an entree), and the owners are very amiable and always joke with me about my atrocious attempt at pronouncing Vietnamese. Â It's family owned and operated so they do their best to make sure that you leave satisfied. Â Overall, a nice place to stop by for a quick bite if you're in the Upper Darby area or stopping at the 69th St. Terminal (about 2 blocks away).
Review Source:I didn't dine in. I only stopped in for a Vietnamese hoagie and a Thai iced bubble tea. Really good! I'm usually really picky about these 2 things, so that says a lot. I'm not sure if the man who made my order was the owner, but he was very friendly and fast. Prices are cheap. The place looked clean. I will definitely be coming here again! It is next to a Korean supermarket and other various Korean stores. There is some metered parking out front which I'm not too crazy about, but I lucked out with finding a spot as soon as I pulled up.
Review Source:Pretty decent Vietnamese restaurant. They had a small area with all sorts of cakes, pastries & treats. Rice cake, sponge cake, etc. Located in the middle of the Korean section of Upper Darby Pa, Cafe Anh Hong was a nice dinner. Prices were fair, and the menu had a pretty large selection of items. Many of which I've never seen at a Viet Restaurant before. Peanut sauce is always delicious, we started off with both fried & clear spring rolls, then ordered pho & a steamed rice dish. Entrees ranged from 6.50 - 13.00 dollars. The waiter was very patient with us (our daughter was throwing utensils everywhere). Check it out if you're in the area. There is some metered parking in front of the restaurant.
Review Source:I've been here twice now. It's a bit out of the way if you don't have a reason to be in the 69th Street Station area. Anh Hong does a great job on the staples of Pho and fresh spring rolls with plenty of condiments to go with the former and quite tasty peanut sauce to go with the latter. Service was quick coming in and bringing the food, but a tad slow on getting the check to me. Credit card minimum is $15.
