Awesome dive in bar but still a classy crowd w/regular what seems like local patrons typically between mid 20's to late 30's.

The perfect Mac & cheese. So decadent, creamy, well portioned and delicious! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Great venue to kick back, have a few drinks and enjoy a meal with great company.

The service at the Apogee is always great. The food is average "Americana"
I recently had the shrimp Louie and could have made the same salad at home. The food is good but lacks the wow factor. This place is where old Fairwood money goes to drink beer, eat and gossip. Basically, the "Cheers" of the area.

But...Their chocolate cake is freggin' amazing! AND it's huge and great to share with a couple of other friends. I love the chocolate cake.

Good for meeting up with family or friends for a quick meal and a few beers.

Some days, I just need a dark, 70's hunting cabin type place to drown my sorrows in beer and grease.   Light is overrated anyway.  Let me soak up that wood paneling while I'm getting dirty looks from the locals.   There's a ginormous LA Fitness behind this place now, but the odds of any crossover clientele between that place and the Apogee are nil.   This  place is actually decent for a beer or some pub grub, it's okay, just tell yourself you are visiting it ironically.

Note to owners, start serving sandwiches with Market House Meats corned beef again.  He's a regular there, and I will be too if you can serve sandwiches like his.

Dark and dingy. I do want to say the service was great! The food is unsafe. My soup was cold. My gravy tasted of mold.

Well, first the keg blows on one of my favorite beers and they can't seem to tap the only other keg they have of it. Oh well. Then the "buffalo wings" turn out to really be hot wings with cheap BBQ sauce, NOT buffalo sauce. The chicken was well cooked, but just in a lackluster, mis-represented sauce. Then the order for pepperoni and cheese pizza gets delivered as sausage and cheese... Yeah, we won't be back.

If you are looking for greasy, unhealthy Bar food this place is the place for you.  Nothing stands out food wise, its okay...None of the food is prepared..its all frozen pre packaged food.  Anybody with a grill and deep fat fryer could cook this food.

Solid 4 star for this great little neighborhood bar and grill.  I read the reviews and don't agree with the french fry assessment.  The fries tasted good, and I recommend the french dip - Delicious!

It's true the interior is dated, but the patrons and staff are friendly.  We went on a Friday night so the place was hopping, but we didn't feel rushed.   Even won $50 on pull tabs.  We'll be going back for sure.

Oh Apogee, why oh why can't you be just a little bit better.  Been going to this joint for the better part of 10 years only when we are out of options.

We've been three times now because it is nearby- and we kept wanting it to be better. So these are my overall impressions from those visits.

The fries taste....like old oil. There is no other way to explain it, but they should probably change the oil in the fryers every now and again. They ALWAYS taste that way, as it happens. One time they tasted fishy, so I know they were not changing the oil out.

My burger was dry, but decent enough.  Breakfast was pretty lame: bland, slightly overcooked.... I do a better job at home.

My husband had the steak sandwich and after complained his 'mouth hurt from too much chewing'- it was a tough cut of meat. He did love his HUMMER sandwich and said it was 'really really good'.  It was HUGE, also. Worth ordering if you are here.

Thankfully I have never smelled the restrooms, but it is SERIOUSLY dark inside- I don't mind that, but I rather dislike the TAXIDERMY. I do not need dead animals watching me eat my dead animal, thanks.

I've had TERRIBLE service (waiting over 25 minutes after finishing for our cheque- in a 1/4 full place? I had to go ask them TWICE for our cheque.) and very good service, so it depends I guess.

All in all- 'meh' about sums it up.  It's not horrible, but it's not great either.

Been here a few times for drinks and that's ok.  If you have to eat, the egg salad sandwich and sauteed mushrooms is good.  The rest are fried and too salty or taste burned.

First off, the food is just plain not good. I tried breakfast (greasy) & lunch (lackluster) and was not impressed!!! Boring flavors and cheap ingredients.
Secondly, the bill was really high for what we ordered. A lunch portion cobb salad and a breakfast plate shouldn't be $26.
And finally, the interior is terrible. It was sunny bright outside and there are no windows inside this place! When we walked out it took 5 minutes for my eyes to adjust. Not cool.
They probably have a non compete clause in their lease, b/c there are no other restaraunts in this plaza or in Fairwood. Surely the only reason they are still around.

Service sucks. Food sucks. I think the only reason the place is still in business is it's the only pony-ride around. The owner just fired the best waitress they ever had because she needed time for a family emergency. What a jerk. If you love grease-soaked food this is the place for you. My husband and I have lived in this area for over 20 years and went there for breakfast once in a while on weekends but it is faster drive all the way to Tommy's in Renton than go to Apogee. My husband liked going once in awhile on Fridays for the fish and chips but with me being a diabetic there was nothing on the menu for me. The menu has remained the same heavy, greasy goop from forever. With Lisa gone we will not be going back at all because she was the one bright spot in that place. Please Dick sell the place to someone that knows how to run a restaurant.

When I moved to Fairwood I heard many rants about how lucky I was to have The Apogee in my backyard. It was a while before I ate there, but was glad when I did. The service was great, but some of the regulars didn't appear to be over enthused about having me there. We had a couple burgers and for the price it was on the Red Robin level. I heard that the chicken was a must sample, but so far haven't been able to. I have tried breakfast a couple times. It was hot and a hearty portion, but the flavor was very bland. In this flavor free society someone needs to stand up and sling the seasoning, but if that is your bag, Apogee is not for you. Great burger, breakfast is blah.

Giant portions, awesome prices, decent food, never too loud and crowded for a pub, nice casual atmosphere.

I used to come here for happy hour on Fridays because my co-workers went here.  The food, service, prices etc are all fine.  It's basically like a Denny's in that regard.  But let's get to the real issue... the facility.  I think you will honestly feel like you stepped into a time machine and are magically transorted back into the 70s.  The chairs are the real prize here.  Tan leather roller chairs with giant armrests. I'm pretty sure they don't make these anymore.  I bet you could find them on E-bay and they might even be expensive.  They are cozy, I will say that.  The building has no windows and has a cabin/lodge like decor.  The staff also seems like they are from the 70s.  It almost feels like you're in 1970s Las Vegas.

Great food, good beers, excellent service. So why only two stars?  Go back to play pool and try not to gag from the smell of sewage.  Completely unacceptable; fix the turd smell or close up.  Feces have no place in a restaurant- period.  Luckily, the Eau de Choad is only present in the recently remodeled section.  Please fix this!!!

The BLT was raved about so I ordered it, and yes, 1/2 pound of bacon, just like Tammy C below said.  I would order it next time without the mayo though.  ick.  And without the side of fries, if one person orders fries, SHARE.
The bf ordered the bacon cheese burger and it was huge, the burger and the amount of bacon.
I would have really liked for them to have some other soup on wednesdays besides chili.
The kids were happy, but hit them with chicken tenders and fries and they are happy clams.
Bathrooms needed attention, but the water was instantly hot, which doenst happen very often, so that was good.
The bf said 1 star, but I said, 2 at least....the waitress was really nice and attentative.

15 years in Renton and this is the best bar food I have found.

I regularly have the Hummer sandwich and fries and then don't have to eat for a week.  Most amazing sandwich I have had outside of NY.

great food at a great value and not a stuffy atmosphere.

My neighborhood pub. Good food, solid prices. It always feels like 1975 when in walk in!

The wait staff is attentive and friendly. However, I totally have an issue with NFL Sundays there - they promote it as the "place to watch all the games," but the bartender that works the shift doesn't know enough about their satellite TV to turn on the game I want to watch. After 1 week of making an attempt, he got lazy and then refused to even try the subsequent 2 weeks, so I stopped going on Sundays.

I really, really want to eat breakfast and drop $20+ each fall Sunday, but they just won't accommodate my simple request...

Traditional American fare.  They have a pub and a restaurant, which has separate entrances. Although we've eaten in the restaurant side several times, my wife and I generally  like to go up without the kids and sit in the pub side. The service on the restaurant side has been inconsistent but on the pub side the service has always been good.
I LOVE their Broasted chicken with tons of Joe Joes (you'll have leftovers) and the rest of the food is also pretty good.
The pub looks like it was modeled after a off-the-beaten-path Buckly tavern than hasn't been updated since the early 70's. You like wood paneling & pull tabs? They got it.
The restaurant follows suit with the decor in that it doesn't look that updated but it's still very pleasant..

It's a bit of a dive bar, and yes it's stunk last time I went, and they kicked us out for a tiny wake the time before. But its tradition. Foods good, drinks are good, good place to hang out.

    1) Pitchers of Guiness for $11.50
    2) Awesome 70's-meets-The Flinstones decor
    3) The AARP meeting vibe - pretty quiet, no hipsters, clubbers, or otherwise slimy and/or annoying bar crowd here!  Everyone just leaves you alone so you can drink and hang out with your friends.
    4) Pretty good food.  Not amazing, but sometimes if you are lucky they bring everyone brownies for dessert!  Definitely a solid menu for a drinking night.  Oh, and they pizza is worth ordering too.

    Dive Bar?  Me thinks not.

Instead what I found was a decent size bar with good food, attentive service, and people who just like coming here.

So the boy and I met up with a friend who suggested we go to "Apogee's," he says.  "You mean Applebee's?" we ask.  "No.  Apogee's. It's directly behind the Safeway."  So we go for it.

Step in to the large bar with well-cushioned seats and booths.  Notice the stuffed wildlife on the walls and the well-stocked bar.  Our waitress is quick to bring us menus and our drink orders.

I order the BLT which boasts a 1/2 pound of bacon!  And it did!  The sandwich didn't even leave that rough on the top of my mouth feeling when I was done.  Yippee!

The boy orders soup and a baked potato. (Forgive him, he broke a tooth, but spoke highly of the Navy Bean soup.)

The friend swears up and down by their French dips but ends up ordering the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a cup of soup.

I will definitely go back for a drink and that sandwich they called a Hummer.  Mmmmmmm...

I would give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. I'm giving it an extra 1/2 star because of the excellent service provided by the waitress/server named Lisa (Server ID #11). She was the only waitress working at the time and she still made sure she was friendly and efficient with every table.
As for the food...I say it is above average, but not bomb. I ordered the nachos ($10.99) and a mushroom burger ($8.79). The nachos were delicious, but kinda on the pricey side. The mushroom burger was juicy, but equivalent in taste to a burger served at Red Robin.
I will definitely eat at this restaurant again and next time will order something besides a burger...maybe I'll try their breakfast or chicken fried steak. I will also try something on their dessert menu. It was my first time here, so I will update my review on my next trip.
I would recommend this restaurant...but, good luck finding it...you cannot see this restaurant from the street.

Its near my house, near a bar and near a bank. Need I say more?
The service is friendly and quick. The food in typical for a B&G, but actually quite good.
A great heavy meal is always a must for a night of binge drinking.

Here are three things you will need for a successful night of drinking
1.Something to throw up along with 15 Hefeweizen is always a must.
2.Someone to call whist inebriated (crying optional)
    3.Taxi on speed dial.

I was really unsure about this place when my boyfriend and I decided to try to out. It's tucked BEHIND Safeway, next to the entrance of the QFC. I got the bleu cheese burger with out the bacon. I never order burgers but this one sounded so good, and it was! The patty was cooked perfectly and the bleu cheese was rich and soft, yum! Our fries were soggy which was sad because they looked like they had a lot of potential.

The decor reminded me of an old Dennys or IHOP. The place was dead too. Maybe because it was a Monday but we were there for an hour and we were the only ones there.

My boyfriend and I walked out of there with the $17 bill so all was good on the money front!

This place keeps it real.  The sandwiches are the bomb.  They have a ton of meat in them stacked to the ceiling.  Get the HUMMER!!! Woohoo.  Also, the atmosphere is homey and the waitresses are nice.

When I saw there was going to be an "Obama Bash" at the Apogee on  Inauguration Day I signed up immediately,  remembering the outstanding pizza I enjoyed  there with friends many years ago.  We drove through the foggiest night I've seen in Kent and Renton to arrive just as the party was in full swing, with the inauguration on every TV screen and many tables decorated with Obama posters - and plates of delicious-looking food. Our waitress was efficient and friendly and our meals arrived hot and tasty. My son's chicken was tender and savory; my 'personal' pizza was even better  than I remembered.

The couple at the table next to us ordered a 'small plate' of chicken and fries that could have fed the four of us. Everything I saw did look as though it was also very skillfully made from scratch, and  we visited just about every table with Obama decorations.

It was easy to carry on conversations and I discovered the woman next to me graduated from Cal the same year I did; my son found a soul-mate at the table on the other side of us and we soon felt we were celebrating among friends.

We brought half our food home and still felt as though we had eaten comfortably past 'full' ~ I would love to try other items on the menu, including appetizers and desserts, but plan to bring friends next time so we can order more. Not having the foresight to move into that neighborhood when I had the chance, I am thinking up excuses to go back just so we can drop in while we are there.

Casual decor with fine dining fits my family to a T, so I'm sure we will find reasons to get us back to the Apogee.

    I love it there.
    Atmosphere is interesting.
    Bright.
Don't go if you like bright.
    It's like BINGO Night!!! YIKES>
    I love it there however...
Yes I live in the neighborhood.
Try their restaurant side... food is excelle

Ummmm...  Yum.  That is what I have to say about the Apogee.  This place isn't going to win any awards in the decor area - but they just might win a french fry award.

The menu is expansive and offers burgers, pizza, salads (you know that there is iceberg lettuce in this hizzouse), steaks, and even seafood.  One of the big favorites is a HUGE slice of homemade chocolate cake - it looks a lot like the Motherload at Claim Jumpers.

The attached Pub offers what you would imagine - pulltabs, faded carpet, dim lighting, and lots of customers that have been regulars since the Carter Administration.

The food is delicious.  The service is spotty.  Its a great place hidden in Fairwood.

This place in definitely not for the gluten free eater but after going with my girlfriends it is now going to be my local watering hole. The interior is a lot like the Flintstones house and clearly hasn't been updated in the last 30 years, no worries thats just the way I like a good dive bar.
I was really impressed with the friendliness and courtesy of the bartenders that I've met so far and was told they make most of their foods from scratch. I couldn't resist eating some of the really tasty deep fried Mushrooms that they beer batter daily.
There is also a diner next door (same place) for the family crowd that I will be back to try soon.  Hopefully they have a few good gluten free things on the menu, because I'll be sad if I can't eat here.

It's the dive bar by my house, but I'm there for breakfast with my parents, drinks with my girls, or dinner for my friends.  Seriously, anywhere you can go where the regulars have been regulars for 20 years and you don't get murdered for putting European techno and/or Whitney Houston on the jukebox is okay with me :)

    Wow, pizza is fabulous here.

Deep dish or thin crust, they got it.  Have it as take out or eat at Apogee along with a pint of Guiness, you just cannot go wrong.

Oh, Apogee is in two sections.  The original section is a bar while the expanded section is geared toward families.

An attached pub with decent brews. Changes monthly too! Am in heaven and walking distance now! Woohoo!

Price range below subject to addition of beer.
