I've been going to Baang for 15+ years, but I've never had a meal as bad as the one I had last night. Â The restaurant was 1/4 full on a Sunday night, yet appetizers took 30 minutes to come out. Â Nearly an hour after ordering, no sign of our entrees, nor had anybody come by to check. We finally hailed a busboy and asked what was up. After promising our food would be out momentarily, it finally emerged 20 minutes later. Â I don't care if it's a Sunday night in August. Â If you're not going to provide minimally decent service, don't bother opening the doors. Â Not coming back again.
Review Source:The food here is really good. I thought a bit overpriced so I found myself only sticking to a few items. If you order and share- that may be the best route to get more for your money. The serving sizes were good and nothing was too oily or too fried. I would definitely recommend it! (Location is a bit strange but easily ignored once you get inside)
Review Source:overall, 2 stars because they lost so many points in one fell swoop thanks to one of their bartender's AND to be honest, theyre lucky to keep these two. that kobi beef is just too good to not give some props to.
after a delicious meal with 8 people, three of us decided to go to the bar instead of holding up a table, thus allowing the waiting guests a chance to delve into the delicious food as aggresively as we had.
in a matter of seconds i went from having a good time to walking out and not tipping the bartender.
it started when she poured a baang "specialty drink". on the drink menu it goes into all the details about what is in each drink, but when she served it it had a distinctly different look and taste then what was expected. the girl who had ordered it is allergic to cranberries and thus would never have ordered anything with cranberry juice in it, but instead of apologizing and remaking the drink, she went on and on about how the owner messed up the drink menus and that she made it the correct way. still... no apology and it gets worse.
i try to smooth things out and ask her if she would pour another. she finally agrees, but says she would like to make a drink that she had been twiddling with (not the drink my friend wants). i figure whatever, it's free, no big deal. wrong. a minute later... a new drink for my friend arrives and all is forgotten, sort of. the bartender comes back a few minutes later to see how she likes it (she does) and my buddy asks the bartender if she wants to have a drink with us. she says ok. without hesitation or words the bartender takes a straw and places it in the drink she made for my friend (a drink that my friend had been drinking from) and clogs the top of the straw thus pulling some of the liquid out to taste. she drinks from the straw and says she is going to make herself the drink she had just made for my friend. i stand in shock and silence. Â
instead of going all jersey shore on this girl i laughed. i could not believe she had done that. a moment later i ask for the bill and shockingly this chick had put all of the drinks on the tab, including the incorrect drink and the one she made for herself.
i put up an argument and demand to speak with the manager, but alas... no manager on duty. on a saturday night... no manager working? wtf? so... i pay the bill, leave no tip and quite frankly feel just fine about having done so.
i pass on baang.
