Been here a few times and currently have a groupon in the reserves for my next visit.
Comes out of nowhere on the road it is on and is actually a quite pretty setting. It was nice to sit outside on one of my visits.
I like places like this that have something for everyone or whatever you may be in the mood for - sushi, noodles, chinese dishes etc.
Good service and decent prices, Â pretty nice portions too.
This restaurant, in a quiet enclave in Glenville (a part of Greenwich) is fantastic. The prices aren't cheap, but the sushi is fresh and the menu is vast. I went on a Saturday night and  the restaurant (shaped like a q-tip with a narrow middle and two large rooms at each end) had about half of its table occupied. Patrons ranged from families with younger children to couples on dates. I ordered the summer roll to start. I was expecting a regular spring roll type appetizer; rice paper with julienned veggies etc. The menu mentioned that the summer roll had crab and tuna as well.  I was surprised when the dish was served  as the roll was cut up and seemed more like sushi than anything else. It was however, very tasty. I ordered the sashimi entree and at $25 I felt that even though it didn't come with soup or salad, the portion was huge and worth the price. There were 5 or 6 different types of fish in the large bowl. The bowl was filled with ice and the sashimi pieces were artfully arranged atop. The fish included: (to the best of my knowledge) tuna, salmon, hamachi, halibut (?) and mackerel. Every single piece just melted in my mouth. Hands-down, the most flavorful and enjoyable sushi i've eaten to date. I will most definitely return and once again plan to order the sashimi dinner.
Review Source:This place is amazing! The specialty rolls are out of this world and the creme brulee is by far the best dessert I've ever had at an Asian restaurant.
The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is incredible! Ask to be seated in Bushra's section; she's the best server there without a doubt.
For $30, Â Sushi and Sashimi was skimpy. Â Sushi rice is not done correctly and fish are not fresh. Â Edible but not pleased. Â Chicken Pad Thai was ok but not great. Â Nice place with good service, though. Â Wish food can be better. Â Won't go back. Â I can do much better in Manhattan with that price.
Review Source:Bambou has been my "go to" lunch spot for the past three years since it's been a very short and very convenient walk from my office.
Now I no longer work there, I'll need to find a new lunch spot.
Bambou skates the line between lunch time excellence, but at a price that's entirely reasonable. Â I've never been for supper so don't know how those prices compare for value for money, but as far as lunch is concerned I think it's a great deal.
Some of the most creative rolls and dishes anywhere. Â Try the king crab and tuna cold pizza or summer roll with mango and tuna. Â Their Tiger roll and panko shrimp roll are not to be missed. Â I used to stop by Nobu when driving by NY but now go here. Â Many similar dishes and free parking. Â Easy to access off the Merritt. Â When the weather is nice, they have a great outdoor seating area by a (real) river and waterfall.
Review Source:Bambou was okay. Â There are not a ton of sushi places in Greenwich, so we do not have much to compare themselves to locally. Â
Everything about the food and the decor is nice. Â But nothing really stood out. Â We sampled several of the special rolls and several appetizers. Â As I said before, it was good but not great/creative enough to justify about $15 per roll....basically it boils down to the idea that it wasn't a memorable meal in a positive or negative way.
If you live in Greenwich and don't mind overpaying for food by about 20 to 40% then go to Bambou, but there is probably a nearby place in Fairfield or Westchester county that is superior for the same price...or just as good but with more bang for your buck.
My boyfriend took me here literally the other night, 11/12/09, as a surprise... it was quite the nice surprise. Â For a thursday night at 7pm till 8:30 it was quite quiet which was odd for me. Â They were very attentive and very kind. Â The food was so delicious. Â The decor was modern yet chic. Â I enjoyed the fact that they had regular wines from different regions.
I had rock shrimp tempura with a spicy sauce (can't remember what the sauce was called) and my boy had sweet potato tempura fries with some sort of teriyaki'ish sauce.... i'm not a sweet potato fan but mmmm were those delish. Â Dinner was pad thai with chicken for my guy (he's not a big seafood fan although we're working on it) and i had a yummy chilean seabass in a miso glaze with bok choy, jicama and shitake mushrooms.... they offered me white or brown rice and I opted for white which my guy ate since I wasn't in the mood. Â The fish with the veggies were just so good and satisfying that after I didnt feel too full but perfectly satiated. Â Dessert was shared and the choices were so intricate and different that we had hard time choosing.... in the end it was flaming tempura icecream (or in lamens terms: fried ice cream). Â neither of us had it so we were dying to try it. Â It was amazing and the perfect crust... I couldn't even taste the coconut and i hate coconut! Â Definitely a must try!
It was slightly more expensive but for two apps, two entrees, one dessert and one glass of wine we paid about $80ish which wasn't breaking the bank. Â I'll definitely come back to try the sushi rolls because they looked quite interesting.
Very cool menu, nice dining experience. Â Note, only one hot sake on the menu but otherwise decent sake selection. The big standout was the Tuna Tortilla Pizza -- delicious (if you like carpaccio-style tuna.) Â Interestingly serving Roti Canai (albeit with only one small piece of bread.) Â Big plus: brown rice available for all sushi rolls. Â Unique sushi and sashimi combinations like kimchi/mango and "pink panther" (spicy tuna w/ peanuts wrapped in pink soy bean sheet, topped w/ crush peanuts). Avoid the Peking Duck roll -- not as good as one would hope (needs cucumber and scallion, more hoisin.) Â Would definitely return.
