The food is great and they have a good selection of beer which is why I come, but It is rare i come here and have had great service. They waiters and waitresses are slow, never attentive to the customer and you will wait long for everything here.
Tuesday nights are $1 burger night till close which is a great deal!

I had the meatball appetizer and it was quite good.  The waitress was less than friendly, but I am super handsome so I probably intimidated her, as I do most women.  My wife is a brave woman.  Anyway, I digress, this is a great location and great facility.  Nice place to sit outside and have a beer.  A smile and friendly service would have gotten that extra star.

Located at Waterway, this bar/restaurant has a lot of outdoor seating, inside seating is plentiful as well but can get pretty loud when it's full. I come here often for some of their delicous vegetable flat bread and the "effin good" cocktail, which is some sort of concoction with lime, cucumber, vodka? I don't really know what is in it but it's pretty darn good. Some of my favorite things to come here for are:

    1. Happy hour- $3 beer on draft, $5 martini's, 1/2 off almost every appetizer, my favorite the brushetta, which comes in a giant size martini glass, and the vegetable flatbread.

    2. $1 burger Tuesdays! My favorite include the turkey burger and portabello burger. Try adding blue cheese crumbles to your turkey burger, it's bomb!

I haven't yet been dissappointed with anything I've ordered here. Although they could probably use some more waitstaff. Sometimes service can be some what slow during peak hours.

If the staff just kicked it up a notch this place would kill it.  Cold beer, decent drinks.  GREAT PATIO!!!  Food is good, you have something for everyone.  But the service, is all over the spectrum.  If the outside patio wasn't so good, I would never go here again.

Food and atmosphere are good; however, our server, a chubby girl with a pixie haircut, was totally inattentive and bordered on rude.

Note to Bar Louie management: If the service was more attentive and quicker, we would have drank (i.e.: spent) a lot more. We were there for my friend's birthday, so we TRIED to celebrate, but couldn't, because the server didn't care if we had drinks, EVEN when we waved to get her attention. She just kept walking.

Food and drink are overpriced but good. Service is beyond awful. Not only is it consistently slow but the last two servers I've had have been blatantly rude. I understand there has been cracking down on bartenders but service shouldn't be sacrificed ESPECIALLY when the bar is practically empty!

I like this place especially on a nice day to sit outside on the patio, the only thing I don't care for is that they won't let you bring in tacos from right next door... BOOO!!!!  Drinks are not cheap and the appetizers I have had here have all been really cool.  cool, sexy chill vibe.  The waitstaff has been hit or miss but atmosphere kind of outnumbers that.

Don't expect anything to come out of the kitchen fast, that has never been my experience.  In other words, don't come here if you are in a hurry.

    Absolutely awful service.

We walked in, and sat down at a table.  There were six of us.  Our waitress took our drink and appetizer orders.  Returned probably five minutes later with the drinks.  After that though, we waited.  And waited.  And waited for the appetizers to come out, and for her to take our food orders.  We tried several times to flag down our waitress numerous times.  It was not that busy a night.  I'd estimate that when we first arrived, the restaurant was no more than 10% full (monday evening).  At no point did it get more than 25% occupied.

After approximately 25-30 minutes of waiting, someone in my party CALLED the restaurant from his cellphone to inform them that we were still waiting, and were ready to order.  The waitress finally came back and offered the unapologetic explanation that she was having difficulty translating orders from her customers into spanish for the cooks.  If that's a problem, then it needs to be addressed by the management.  But regardless of kitchen issues, at that point all six of us were sitting at the table with completely empty drinks with no offers of refills, so her "excuse" rings hollow.  She also finally brought out the appetizers (one order of pretzels and one of tots) that were cold at that point.  She also then finally offered refills on the water and asked if anyone wanted another round of cocktails/beers.

It took a while for the food to come out, and when it did, it came out over the span of five-ten minutes.  The first people served didn't want to eat out of courtesy for the others still waiting for their food, so those people sat with their food getting cold while the waitress brought the remainder of the food out.  No reason it should have taken that long.  Again, our drinks were all empty at this point.

Once all the food was consumed, the check processing seemed to go a bit faster.

It's a shame.  I've been here before and I love the pretzels and the "Bloody Louie" cocktails, and the other food is generally good when served hot and in a reasonable amount of time.  But after tonight's (lack of) service, I don't think I'll be back.  Awful experience.

I went here yesterday with a party of 15 people. The food was really good. I had the BBQ burger that was supposed to come with onions strings but the cook forgot to add those with my order. Nonetheless the food was good and service was ok. I didn't have any alcoholic beverages but from what my family said they were really good. The outside atmosphere is amazing.

Bar Louie is a great place to watch football on a Saturday afternoon or sit outside on a nice day. The food is really good too--especially the sandwiches. If you love beer and lots of options...this is the place to be. Only downside--the staff are very unprofessional and seem to treat their days at work here as a place to mingle and hang-out by the bar.

went here for lunch with the wifey the other day. food was great, service was o.k. and the price was reasonable. we had the pear, chicken salad, and the fish and chips. both were excellent. it's in a very nice location, across from the fountain, so there's some good scenery. lots of people usually walking by adds to the entertainment.

Having just moved to the Woodlands from Central Phoenix, I'm having a rough time adjusting to not being able to grab dinner with friends after 8 pm. In general, I'm not a martini girl, but I like the Diva and the Tickled Pink. I also LOVE that Bar Louie has huge appetizer's and great happy hour specials. I was craving their meatballs last week and got a group together for happy hour. Our service started off well, but it seemed like our waitress was annoyed that we stayed for a few hours, even though we continued to order food and drinks and she still had open tables.

Went Saturday night and sat at one of the booths at the bar.  I read several reviews on here before we went and was expecting a poor experience but was pleasantly surprised.  Had a really great experience - good dranks and good service.  I had the Diva martini and it was yummy.  We had the pretzels... pretty good and the nacho's... ehhh, I could have done without.  If I am back in The Woodlands I would visit this place again.

Review is for drinks only. I work at a bar and know what vodka water with lime is supposed to taste like. My boyfriend orders his and it tasted like they pretty much forgot the 'vodka' part. My Chardonnay was about 2oz too little. Definitely a short pour on both drinks. Waste of money. Good thing our Grimaldi's buzzer didn't take long.

I like that they are open late (one of the few fast food places that I've been able to find around here open after 9, but finding things behind all the trees around here is difficult in general, so maybe that's not saying much). They're drinks are tasty and creative, as is their food. I was really impressed with the salad I got the first time I visited. Fresh blackberries, oranges, brie, and bacon vinaigrette is a tasty combo. The only thing that I didn't care for was that I had asked for it without chicken and it came with chicken anyway. The nachos were also tasty, and filling enough that my friend and I split them and still couldn't finish them.

I came back a second time with a few friends for drinks and snacks. I was really excited to try the buffalo calamari. The waitress took out orders. Then when she came back later with my friends food she informed me that they were out of calamari. Great time to tell me...I opted for the pork pot stickers instead. They were good, but nothing to get excited about. My friends flat bread veggie pizza I nibbled on waiting for my food was better. Then they took a good 20 or so minutes to finally bring us our check.

There's certainly room for improvement but it's still an enjoyable enough place. There menu is interesting enough and their staff friendly enough to come back again.

I've been contemplating 'lowering' my review from 4 stars to a hesitant 3 stars..We've been back a handful of times with friends and each time my view of this place keeps going down.  This is for a couple of main reasons:

1 - The service hasn't gotten better.. if anything it has went downhill.  The staff is less than attentive and always takes forever to get a drink from the bar (think 10 minutes or so).  Additionally, they always seem to be scrambling for something and have multiple people infrequently visiting our table.  It makes it difficult to know who our actual waiter/waitress is.

2 - The interior is miserably loud.  I like music as much, if not more, than everyone else, but it is WAY TOO LOUD.  We went by on Cinco De Mayo weekend with some friends after a soccer game for a late dinner.. and while you anticipate it being loud with some music and a party atmosphere, it was way over the top noise wise.  I had to scream to the individual sitting right next to me.. only to get a smile and a nod or a 'huh?!?!'.
Same thing last Friday, but only not as loud (it was earlier in the evening).  I could hold a conversation speaking loudly with my neighbor, but anyone across the small pub table was useless, might as well just send a test message.

3 - The food has failed to impress since I've been back.  It hasn't been bad, but it hasn't been great.

NOTE TO MANAGEMENT - Turn down the music about 40 notches.  I thoroughly enjoyed the meal when I ate outside, on a weekend for lunch and it was fairly quiet.  I would come back more often if I could actually visit a bit with the individuals I'm there with.

According to the menu, the salsa, queso, and guacamole are all made from scratch daily. Which is great. Unfortunately, all three were very bland. Kinda like Bar Louie.

Don't get me wrong, Bar Louie isn't a terrible bar; you could do a lot worse. What differentiates this bar, though? Why go to Bar Louie as opposed to any of the dozen or so nearby bars? It's not original. It's not inexpensive. Service is average, the drink & food selection is merely decent. I suppose the best thing you can say about Bar Louie is that the interior is handsomely decorated. (Although the bathrooms look downright dumpy. And no automatic flush? Come on.)

Bar Louie deserves a three star rating. Which means it's not bad, but if you're going to be hanging out on the Waterway, there are better options.

Recently ate at Bar Louie on a Friday night with friends. The place was hoppin, the service was great, the food wonderful and the drinks terrific! Thanks to Royl for looking in on us and making sure we were having a good time.
