This place has proven chronically erratic in food quality. The warm crispy chips are consistently great. Â The guacamole is watery and uninspiring. Â On occasion, I've had barbacoa tacos that were so spicy they were inedible. On other occasions, the assorted tacos have been flavorful and balanced. Â Last night I wanted something light and I ordered a salad with shrimp. Â I was surprised that they were greasy little fried nuggets on a bed of underdressed, bland butter lettuce.
Go for the chips, the cocktails, the patio, and the child-friendly atmosphere. Â Maybe after a couple margaritas, the food won't matter.
The food here is ok. I had  the Carnitas, it was tasty but a bit dry. Others in my dinner party seemed to enjoy their tamales, Chile Relleno, and tacos.  I also had the Corn Pudding side dish, which I really enjoyed - it was more of a custard and had sliced zucchini. House Margaritas were very tasty, albeit small.  Unlike other reviewers, we had good service and a very attentive waitress. Food and drinks arrived quickly and they were always around checking.
What was NOT okay was the volume of the live music. Seriously, it was so loud we ended up leaving because we couldn't carry on a conversation. Maybe something like an acoustic guitarist would be nice - but an amplified singer with cranked up volume was a bizarre choice for such a small patio space.
I'd go again to try more things on the menu, but only if there's no live entertainment.
