I have to admit, this is one of the first times that I have been let down by yelp. Drawn to this place by its lofty reviews, I was excited to get a great meal. What I got was far from this. I got the mixed meat grill. Portion sizes were disappointing given the price. You get a few meat patties, a few razor thin slices of chicken, a tbsp of baba and a tbsp of hummus. The meat patties were mushy in texture and low on flavor. The chicken was tough. The baba and hummus were bland. Pita was reheated and stale. I also order the yogurt drink (doogh) and was disappointed yet again. Tasted like milk from a blender. No spices, mint or yogurt sour flavor at all. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars and not one is because the owner is just too awesome. Such a nice guy that I don't have the heart to give lower than three.
Review Source:Came here with my family. Â Was very underwhelmed by the food -- especially the paltry portions -- Â and the prices. Â Food was dry and uninspiring. Â Seemed to be no size difference between the large falafel wrap and the small one. Â So why does the large one cost over $7? Â Seemed to be 1/2 the size of those at Mediterranean restaurants in Palo Alto at the same price. Â Another pet peeve is wimpy napkins. Â There's are patina thin so they tear coming out of the dispenser. Â And then you're trying to wipe your mouth with 1/2 a napkin. Â Not worth the money I'm afraid.
Review Source:Just so so. Â The workers there were great, the food was meh! Â I had "the greatest meat you will ever have!" Â Definitely not. Â Price was a little higher then deserved. Â
I had the grilled kebab plate with fries and hummus and baba gannouge. Â The meat was a mix of lamb and beef (if I remember correctly). Â The flavour was so so, you got more of the spice then the meat, and it was somewhat bland.
The fries were not the traditional mediterranean style with lemon pepper, but covered in gobs of garlic sauce which left me tasting it for hours.
Would I try this place again? Â Maybe if I was jonsing for a pita wrap and couldn't make it out of orinda and had 10-15 dollars to blow.
