The Barking Frog

Being home for Thanksgiving is often traumatic enough, but not quite complete without an annual Thanksgiving Eve depress-fest at The Barking Frog. Make sure you're looking your best, and in a good position to be put face-to-face with everyone you hated in high school, who will undoubtedly pretend they always liked you (thanks, Guinness) and make all efforts to engage in small talk. At that point, you can casually mention that (unlike her) you have no kids, no husband, no mortgage, no 15-extra-pounds-around-your-middle, and minimal stress. Then you can saunter off to appropriately prepare for your forthcoming food coma.

Ladies and gentlemen, there are dive bars, and there are shit holes. The Barking Frog is a shit hole.

The Barking Frog is all that you would expect from a little bar on a fairly major street in the outskirts of Beacon, NY.

That being said, it's a great little place.  The beer is cold, reasonably priced, and served with a smile from the bartenders.

Great place to go for a few drinks, and they often have live music there.  I may be biased because my friend's sister sings there sometimes, but I have a blast when I go.

No frills here - just a regular blue collar bar.  Relaxing, entertaining, and perfect for a drink when you don't want to dress up.
