I kind of love this place.  It all started with The Patio, some gouda fries, and a couple of martini's and I was hooked.  The Patio during the summer months is quite delightful- sitting under a big umbrella and listening to the falls is a great way to spend an afternoon in Beacon.  The snacks on the patio are quite good and after tasting most of the items on The Patio menu after several visits my favorites were the shrimp cakes, shoestring fries, and the pulled pork sandwich.

It has been interesting to watch the main building come together- I love how the work of local artists was included in the design.  I personally think the interior is quite beautiful.  I love the lounge, 2EM because the bartenders are always very friendly and the drinks are delicious!

This past evening we tried SWIFT for the first time.   Overall, it was a really nice experience- starting with an amuse bouche of lightly seared snapper on top of a pepper compote- compliments of the chef!  We had a bacon and lentil appetizer and the Short Rib and Risotto for our main courses.  The bacon and lentil dish seemed to be the least successful because we felt it needed more texture.  The main dishes were cooked perfectly and were delicious! The almond ice  cream mixed with chai ice cream for a dessert was a nice finish.

There are some signs that this is a new business and servers are still adjusting but overall everything was great!  We look forward to many drinks on the patio when the warm weather arrives.

Valentine's Day, the restaurant was 3/4 empty, we were seated in the chilly entrance area and told by the overwhelmed maitre'd, that she could not seat us elsewhere.  After 5 minutes we insisted and were moved. Our server said "That's what happens when you reserve on Open Table." The restaurant never filled up.  The food was terribly disappointing! The pheasant was tasteless as was the grouper, served on a bed of under-cooked kidney beans. The menu did not state prices, nor that our only option was the prix fixe dinner @ $85, nor did our server ever explain it. The owners need to understand that you have to earn superior ratings by preparing superior food and providing excellent service.  Restoration & modifications to the  mill, terrific.

We went for a NYE dinner last month and I was very impressed. This is the finest act in Beacon for fine dining. It's in a class all it's own. We had a fixed menu for NYE, but everything was wonderfully prepared and presented and it all tasted fantastic. I had a wagyu beef, crab salad, scallops, and a black forest cake. I did not go home feeling stuffed but satisfied. The wait staff was prompt, attentive, cheerful and friendly. This is not a cheap place and it shouldn't be, either.  I have been to the patio in the warmer months and I remember a delicious selection of finger-foods and appetizers. My friends enjoyed great beers and cocktails in a wonderful atmosphere overlooking the falls. I am thrilled we have a place like this in Beacon and I can't wait to go again.
