As a diner fan originally from South Jersey I know of only one diner that ranks up with the best in New Jersey. Â The Yankee Clipper Diner is everything a diner ought to be. Â Portions are enormous, and well done. Â I particularly like breakfasts but I've had dinner here as well and the food was excellent. Â The place looks like a diner should, lots of bright aluminum and chrome. Â The homefries are so good. Â Big chunks of potato lightly fried, not oily or cooked to mush. Â Eggs have always been done to perfection, and the coffee is outstanding.
Review Source:So maybe it's because I'm a Londoner... but I love this place! To me. it is exactly what a proper American diner is all about. The quintessential aluminium (British pronunciation) Â building, the waitress that could be your mother, the booths...etc etc.
The breakfast was ENORMOUS! I am not sure if we accidentally ordered three each, but it felt that way! The food was fresh, the coffee was lovely and I loved every minute of this place!
I visited this diner only once, and since I feel that you often need to eat at a diner multiple times to get a good sense of their cooking, take my review with a grain of salt. I came here for breakfast late on a mid July Sunday morning, when it was more humid out than being inside of a sauna. It was very crowded inside but we were seated and served promptly. My friend and I enjoyed breakfast, where I had french toast and eggs and my friend had a breakfast wrap. I had ordered over easy eggs, and while the egg looked over easy, it was still a little runny which was a bit disappointing and slightly nauseating. I will give it another chance, however, since my best friend raves about their spinach and egg white wrap. We'll see about my next visit!
