For our once-a-month pizza splurge, Big Tony's fits the bill just perfectly. Â For all of you that think people in service professionals live to serve YOU, please get a job at Big Tony's and experience the magic for yourself.
Great, cheap pizza. Â Also, if you have a problem with it, you could try cooking it for yourself. Â Pizza is super easy to make and then you don't have to be bothered by the service.
THE ONLY REASON THIS EVEN HAS 1 STAR IS BECAUSE IT WON'T LET ME GIVE 0!! I have never eaten worse "Italian" food (if you can even call that garbage they're selling food) or been so DISRESPECTED in my entire life!
THIS IS MY TRUE LIFE HORROR STORY:
Last Saturday my boyfriend and I decided to order takeout for our movie night. We wanted to try somewhere new so we randomly picked Big Tony"s Pizza and hoped for the best. BIG MISTAKE! My boyfriend walked over there and ordered Chicken Parmesan for me, Mostaccioli with Sausage for himself and an order of fries. When he got back with the food and I opened my container, I had a Chicken Parmesan sandwich with fries instead. I was pretty annoyed so I called them and asked to speak with the manager so I could get the dinner we ordered. When the manager got on the phone he was extremely rude to me and instead of offering to fix the mistake like a normal person, he sarcastically said "I wasn't the one who wrote the ticket". I told him I didn't care who wrote it, I just wanted it fixed and his response to that was "Well what do you want me to do about it?". I told him I wanted them to make me the dinner we ordered and he tried arguing with me like it was our fault and that the girl wrote it as a sandwich because we ordered fries!!! They do offer fries as a side dish so the girl should have asked if she was confused! RIDICULOUS! He eventually said they'd make it and we could come back up there to pick it up (with a huge attitude!) By that point this guy had me so angry I told him I didn't think my boyfriend should have to walk all the way back over there and asked if they could just deliver it to the house instead. He took down my address and phone number, told me the driver would call me when they were at my house and to trade the containers of food when they got here. WE WAITED FOR 2 HOURS AND NOBODY SHOWED UP!!!!! I called them to find out what was going on and the manager said they tried calling me twice when they got to my house but my phone wasn't accepting any calls. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? MY PHONE WAS WORKING JUST FINE! I got really angry and asked him why the driver didn't bother to get out of the car and knock on my door and HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!! I've never heard of a delivery person who doesn't come to the door! Were they just going to have me walk out to their car and hand me my food through the car window!??? I know for a fact that nobody was ever at our house because we were watching out the window for them!!! My boyfriend called this jerk back to find out why the driver didn't knock on the door and if they ever made the order or drove it out here at all and the manager asked if we were calling him a liar!!! My boyfriend said yes and the guy hung up on him. IT'S AMAZING THIS PLACE IS EVEN OPEN!! Oh and BTW my boyfriend's dinner was DISGUSTING! The noodles were so over cooked and mushy that they fell apart and the slices of sausage that he paid extra for were like shoe leather!! My food had to be reheated because that jerk had me waiting with it by the door for 2 hours and to top it off, the "chicken" they used to make the sandwich with was the same nasty frozen chicken patties they serve in school lunches!! Not to mention it tasted freezer burned! SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND AGGRAVATION!! THIS RESTAURANT IS TERRIBLE!!!!
maybe
big tony's offers what i've decided is the definition of the "chicago slice", which is typically somewhere between think and thin crust & come packaged with a fountain beverage for around $3 - it might be considered a form of glorified frozen pizza. Â BUT why i like big tony's is because they are always playing soccer games on their tvs. finding a slice in chicago is not as easy as you might think. finding a slice and a soccer match is rare!
I had the half pound bacon cheeseburger with fries and an order of onion rings to test out my faves at this Logan Square spot... it was delivered in half the time and everything was hot hot yum yum! The half pound burger was not a frozen patty but ground chuck hand formed it was real good, good salt n pepper  taste, bacon could of been crispier but it was delivered, fries and rings had a good crisp to em too! I will definitely give them another shot when there's nothing to eat and I need food delivered! Next up to try.. the fried chicken and rib tips! Good prices too! Try em out!
Review Source:This place is gross. Fluorescent lightening, cardboard pizza rotating in a display case all day, and about 8 chairs in the whole place. Plus, what kind of pizza place closes before midnight? Skip this place; but if you must eat here, make sure you're good and drunk, or biblically hungover.
Review Source:I ordered here because I was tired of paying $30 for a delivered pizza from Father and Son. Â My medium pizza with 3 ingredients and a 1 liter bottle of RC (great hangover combo) came to $18, $21 with a decent tip. Â How refreshing to not feel gouged! Â The pizza was decent, not gourmet, crust firm enough to hold the toppings and they were of fine quality and yes, as others have noted, it was a little bland, not totally bland, just a tad. Â I keep some "Pizza and Pasta magic" in the house just for that reason to sprinkle on bland grocery store and delivery pizza which totally did the trick. (it has red pepper flakes, herbs, parmesan, etc, you can find it in the spice section of most stores in town). Â I didn't find it that greasy, it came in a box and the box was not greased up. I was glad.
I will order here again because I like to support local businesses whenever I can and Marcellos seems like a factory to me these days and not really that consistent. Â When I want to spend more I will get a nice stuffed one from My Pie, but this is just fine for a thin pizza fix on a tight budget.
Bland? Soggy? Evidently, this is NOT the place to go to for slices. Â I have this theory that the larger the pizza, the more delicious it is.
We all know the three elements of a phenomenal pizza: crust, cheese, and sauce. Â Crust is perfectly, thin. Â Pop it in the oven for a few minutes upon arrival and it's also perfectly crispy. Cheese is tasty and plentiful. Â Sauce is present and not overwhelmingly sweet or salty.
I had a few jalapeno and pepperoni slices at a friend's party and absolutely loved it. Â Now, it's all I get from there.
Delivery time is probably half the quoted time. Two thumbs up, Big Tony. Sixteen bucks for a large, three topping pizza, including tax AND delivery. Â Not complaining...not complaining at all.
Other pizzas I LOVE: John's, Congress, Aurelio's (Homewood)
Big Tony's is definitely a favorite in our apartment. My husband is pizza crazy...breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He ordered from Big Tony's a lot in his bachelor days. We usually get a large pan crust with pepperoni, occasionally mushrooms as well. I love to put crushed red pepper and parmesan cheese on top. We often rely on Big Tony's when friends and family are in town. Good pizza, easy, and a cheap dinner for a group. You can always pick your pizza up in 15 mins. And it warms up great, so order extra!
Review Source:Un-f&*(ing-believable...
They messed up my pizza, completely forgetting one ingredient despite knowing that they repeated it back to me when I ordered it and when I tried to call back, they refused to answer the phone. I wasn't even upset about the screwup, all I was going to do is ask for a credit since I order here at least twice a week but to get treated in such a manner? I know they have called I.D. too so they knew it was me.
F#$K this..I am spending my money and ordering delivery from a place that treats you like a person at least.
Big Tony's Pizza serves up slices that look slightly less appetizing than what lunch lady Dorris used to sling back when I was in elementary school. The rest of the menu is nothing special and the restaurant itself is dingy and doesn't inspire much confidence in the cleanliness of the facilities.
Review Source:The pizza was good, but the giardineira could have been just a wee bit spicier. Delivery was very fast probably received my pizza 25 minutes after ordering it which I think is quick. Definitely better quality then the other pizza places I have tried in Logan Square and I will definitely order again.
Review Source:I really love big tonys... and before when they were on milwaukee before they got gent-tid out to their Fullerton spot. Â They had parking there which was sooo nice. Â
Try the Italian Beef.. sweet and Hot peppers.. YUMM-IEE! Â Dinner with the coleslaw is a great deal.
Pizza as always is a hit or miss with any place like this, but with a hit... awww you can't get any more perfect
I like this pizza. I go there whenever I'm in a pinch. The sausage and cheese are great, though I've had better crusts. The guys who work there are pleasant, if not effusive. They work hard and make your pizza quickly. I recommend pickup or delivery. Your pizza will be ready in under 15 or delivered in 20.
Review Source:i was eating here when big tony's was on milwaukee. when they shut down i was a sad sad girl. you can imagine the delight when i moved to the square only to discover that it didn't close completely they just relocated.
ok so i don't know about the pizza that sits in those warming things cause i don't eat it.. and i think thin crust pizza is sauce on a cracker.
however the stuffed pizza and the pan are my favorite in the city.
i am a big fan of there pan cause it reminds me of pizza in my hometown in ohio.
the sauce  is awesome and they always give you allot. and the guys that work there are funny!
i heart big tony's!!!!
I was happy to see that Tony's is open until midnight most nights, because it was on the way home from both the Whirlaway and The Burlington. Nothing like a greasy slice of pizza to settle your stomach. I've only gotten pizzas by the slice here, the price is unbeatable, I can usually get out of there in less than a minute, and I barely have to talk to the guys who work there.
I also have no idea what is going on in that backroom of their's, but if you ever want to be extremely entertained AND scared for your life, eat the pizza in the restaurant. One time I heard disco music blasting from the back. Maybe they do birthday parties?
Tony's isn't great, but it is good for the price and the convenience. One thing that is semi-unique to them is the fried mushrooms. I have only tried them a couple times, but they are pretty delicious. Arguably better than the pizza. But no one wants to name their place, "Big Tony's Fried Mushrooms?"
2 words. Butter. Crust.
I ordered a Thin Crust Large Cheese to-go.
My pizza was done fast. The sauce was ok and the cheese was ok. The crust was, as I mentioned, a typical Chicago thin butter crust. I always wish for more, but I will have to move out of Chi to get it.
For $11 (after tax) it wasn't a bad deal to split between 2 people late at night. Â
3 stars because it was no better or worse than any other random Chicago pizza place.
You should know that it was only 1 star in my mouth.
Big Tony himself answered the phone, and was appropriately disinterested in taking my order.  Exactly what i expect from an archetype pizza joint.  The mozzerella was good, though, and my deep dish arrived just about exactly when Big Tony said it would.  The crust wasn't anything special, but i didn't expect it to be.  Good prices and a broad menu.  From  what I've heard, it's not a good idea to eat in.  But delivery, sure.
