Tropi Cuba

As it seems most of the negativity comes from the delivery side of the biz, I harbor nothing but love for this place. Earlier today, my roommate came home with some pork that he picked up here.

I tried some, just a couple bites, and then I was inspired to walk outside for the first time of the day and walk to Tropi Cuba. I ordered the Lechon Asado y Yuca. $8 later, I had some of the most tender and delicious pork that made me question whether or not I had ever known that pork could be this good.

Even the way the fat melted into the beans and yuca in a way that made me wish I never took that first bite. The reason is that it feels like they gave me about 2 pounds of food and I can't stop. I can't. I hurt. I want more.

Moral of the story: Walk here. Don't get delivery.

Bad.....

It took 75 minutes to deliver a Cuban sandwich and a beef empanada two miles away. When it finally arrived.... I wish it never had. The sandwich was more like a ham & cheese sandwich with mustard and pickles. The empanada was simply atrocious. It was obviously sitting under heat lamps for days and the flavors did not help.

This is what happens when people (me) get to lazy to drive to 90 Miles Cuban Cafe and order in instead.

Never again. Sorry, Tropi Cuba. Never again!

Not a looker. Though I am a fan of the neighborhood corner store, generally not where I come to get good eats. Don't let this fool you though.

Get the $5 steak sandwich. Few places are able to get something so simple, so right. The bread! The meat! Don't ask why, it just works.

Open later than a lot of the places in its immediate vicinity. Pair with Miko's and a stroll through Palmer Square in the summer. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
