The Owl

Not really my cup of tea. Has a decent jukebox and some neat decor. Sometimes you meet some interesting people out front smoking cigs.  That's about it though.  It's crowded and takes forever to get a drink because there is always about 3 layers of people standing at the bar.  (I hate having to reach over people and shout to the bar tender).

Originally, I was going to give this place 2 stars, but the last couple of times I was there, I was with the right people and we had fun.

I would return in the future.

Total hipster bar. Not my scene but decent beer specials. It was a little loud. I feel sooo old saying that but it was a reunion for me and it was a little hard to catch up with everyone because we all head to yell over each other. Seating left something to be desired. But overall it was a unique experience. It was charming and interesting. I'm glad I went at least once. Definitely won't become a regular any time soon. (Especially since I don't live in Chicago. Haha.)

sometimes we go out drinking on friday night.  we usually start at township or the 2-way and then migrate to other places.  we always end up at the owl last.  we tend to get there JUST BEFORE they reach capacity because we always just walk right in, we are drunk by then and i never really like it there, but i have a good time.  and when we leave there is a long line of people waiting to get in

yesterday we went there around 8pm.  they open at 7 but we were the first people in there.  they hadnt even turned on the beer taps yet!  the bartender dude was pretty gruff and did not appreciate my banter (we were drunk).

one time we were there when they had lights on, and there are many owls around the place.  anyway, it is a good place for a drink.  expensive/average i think the fewer people that are in the place the better it is.
