I am upset with how this bar is being run recently. Been going here for several years and one thing I've counted on is mid week trivia with my friends and sometimes karaoke on Mondays. Always looked forward to the bartenders because they are good at what they do and could handle the volume. Being a bartender for many years previously I must say the new girl has no idea what she's doing. Just because she shows her midriff and wears a flower in her hair doesn't make her good at what she does. And she is rude. I am boycotting this bar and taking my 15 friends with me. You guys really need to get it together if you're going to survive. It's called Big Foot Lodge. It supposed to be a neighborhood bar where people know your name and you can grab a DECENTLY PRICED beer. The way it's going now it should be called Dead Strangers. It's cold and dreary and every one I've spoken with about it feels the same way.

Walked in and within 3 mins I was bored and left. Ladies night for drinks and Its so damn dark inside It put me to sleep!! I did what I never thought possible...I LEFT A BAR SLEEPY!! commmmonnn people the bear in the entrance was giving me hope but, miserably boring and tiny. Sorry I hope the non-fun loving people will continue to love this place.

I thought it was adorable. Probably loved all the wrong things about it, but I thought it was so much fun -- the dancing bears, the fake fire place, the national forest sign. Maybe the much cooler people there weren't there to feel like they were in Disney California Adventure like we were, but whatevs.

The marshmellow and girl scout cookie drinks were fun novelties, but definitely ordered something different for the second round --- felt like we were drinking Honey Boo Boo's Go-Go Juice... too sweet! The next round of Old Fashion and Moscow Mule were great. Warning though -- the mule has GING-GER. I loved it, but if you are not hardcore about fresh ginger, it will knock your socks off.

I tipped the usual 18%. Found out the next day when checking my bank account that they added another 18% gratuity. It seems they do this if you pay with a debit card no matter what. No notification (receipt or verbal). Basically they got a 36% tip out of me. Not cool.

Drinks are usually made pretty strong and they have Murphy's on tap but I can not tolerate such a dishonest tipping practice.

I love the atmosphere here. The decor is great and reminds me of home and it is always packed. Their drink specials are delicious, you definately need to try the Girl scout cookie and the smores ones. I also am a huge fan of their Collins because they make it with lemon juice instead of just soda water like alot of other places do. It has less of an ambience at happy hour, but I would recommend it because some their signature drinks are half price and they are a little pricey late night. Make sure not to come to late or you will not find a place to sit, this place gets crowded.

I love the décor. I've only been there during the day. I'd like to check it out at night. Sadly, this past time we went the music could not have been more annoying.

It was one of those days where things just happened, and an ever-increasing-in-size group found ourselves here on a Sunday evening. Bigfoot Lodge is smack dab in Hipster Headquarters, yet is is as unpretentious as can be. We parked at the free meters, seated ourselves on the big, cushiony barstools, and nerded out with the super cool bartendress. It was comfortable enough that we stayed for hours (and drank for hours, which made for a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad Monday).

I had been to this bar's westerly cousin, Bigfoot West, and was pleased to see many of the same drinks. And happy hour on weekends! All drinks were $5.

I started with an Old Fashioned, which is one of my favorites in general. It was smoky, sweet, and came with a flaming orange peel garnish. If you like being drunk and watching things burn, staring fascinated at the fire through your boozy haze, this is the bar for you. The Toasted Marshmallow cocktail with the flaming marshmallow garnish is another one of my favorites, as is the green, minty Girl Scout Cookie. Both are sweet, but pack a mean punch. Beware, because we all sure got punched.

We had a great time, drinking, chatting, inviting more friends out, getting to know the bar staff, and ordering one too many drinks. El Flamin Taco is walking distance, too. The bar doesn't serve food, but they are cool about patrons bringing their own in.

I don't give out 5 stars liberally, but I had a great time!

(Drank 05/10/13 F @ 6pm): The only hairiness I saw was the facial kind found on the collection of hipsters here!

My buddy and I took a couple weeks off from our weekly happy hour excursion (which usually happened on Mondays) for various reasons, but it was back on this Friday night and I needed a place that had later happy hours because of work, and The Bigfoot Lodge fitted the criteria. Another friend was able to join so it was a party of three!

We each arrived within minutes of each other and grabbed a cushiony leather booth directly in front of the bar - location, location, location! The Bigfoot Lodge had daily Happy Hour from 5pm-9pm with a very limited drink menu (only five drinks), but the drinks were priced at $5.00 each so dammit I was going to work it, and we all did!:

Bigfoot Collins ($5.00 x 2) - I started the evening on a light foot with this concoction of Bombay gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and a splash of Perrier. This definitely has a sweetness to it from the syrup but overall truly refreshing. http://www.yelp.com/user…

Gimlet ($5.00) - next up was this mixture of vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup. Again, a light drink but this time not as sweet and a heavier pour of vodka; thank you! However, a bit too much ice for my taste. http://www.yelp.com/user…

Old Fashioned ($5.00) - I'm not necessarily a fan of this drink which consisted of bourbon, bitters, simple syrup and for show a flaming orange zest (but only lasted for a second!). The strength of the sweetness was back but in this case it defused the taste of the bourbon a bit which I liked. My buddy thought it tasted too much like black licorice. http://www.yelp.com/user…

Tullamore Dew ($5.00) - I've never tried this Irish Whiskey before, and although I enjoyed it neat and sipped it lovingly, this one almost did me in, so after I polished this off we went next door to grab some Indian food takeout and brought it back. http://www.yelp.com/user…

Scrimshaw Pilsner ($5.00) - I needed something to wash down my Indian food and this was the last item to try on their "$5 Buck Happy Hour" menu. I liked this lighter beer and actually went well with my food.

Service - it was great since it was still relatively empty. We had a clear path to the bar to place our orders and the cute pigtailed female bartender who wore a YMCA Indian Princess vest (I knew this because of my nieces) was quick with our drinks and even brought them to our table one time.

Parking - they don't have their own lot but there was plenty of metered street parking ($2.00 - $1.00/hour but free from 8pm-8am) as well as the side streets.

Overall, this review was a longtime coming for The Bigfoot Lodge as it's been a favorite of mine for some time and a great place that my friends and I hung out in. Although they didn't serve food, it was way cool that they allowed outside food to be brought in. And, apparently a food truck would show up later in the evening. I found great value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $30.00 before tip), but the HH prices were hard to beat and even the regular prices weren't bad either. The atmosphere, décor, and ambience was a rustic dark log cabin with a wilderness motif. There were leather booths and couches as well as bar stools and sitting cubes that surrounded the faux fireplace towards the back. The tables were of sectioned tree cut-offs and the bar also had a similar design. There were random stuffed animal heads, national forest signage, and other woodsy memorabilia. There were no TVs but there was background music which we managed to here the loop all the way through. The attire was totally casual so normally I would've been in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. And they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX!

I love the vibe. In fact I'm going to go ahead and say if you make your business Bigfoot themed in any way I will support it. They have great drinks too, including a weird toasted marshmallow thing.

Ten plus years ago, the last time I was here, the place was a lot smaller and darker and not as polished. It was a place to come, relax, drink heavily and have a great time.

Since then, they have remodeled. It looks like a set designer put this place together. The decor is still great, improved even in some respects. I have to give credit where it is due, as these folks had this style before all sorts of places in this town copied their backwoods chic aesthetic.

We took a seat at one of the booths towards the back. I noticed that there were a good number of folks standing around with signature cocktails which looked interesting. The crowd is still mellow and the bartenders chill, so I was looking forward to tossing a few back. The crowd had talent in it.

But, I drink vodka, with a splash of tonic. Not too hard to make, even with that twist of lime that I like and always order. Unfortunately there was more tonic than vodka in my drink which was disappointing. I thought maybe it was just that particular drink and decided to taste my partner's drink, and sure enough, that one was weak as well.

Come here for the eye candy and to meet folks, but if you want to feel the effects, make sure you order something on the rocks or drink before hand, as the pours are a little lite.

Such a warm and cozy feeling from the moment you walk through the doors. The Bigfoot is one of the most down to earth bars I have been to in a long time, and their drink prices are really reasonable. I went for a special event on a Thursday night and the bar was crowded, but I never had to wait too long for a drink. The music was on point and I loved the cabin style vibe.

I was not a huge fan of the toasted Marshmallow ( basically a white Russian with a flaming marshmallow on top) but then again, I am not really into sweet or Milky alcohol.

Grab a date or some friends and prentend your are in Big Bear as you lounge by the fire place.

Every time I go here, I have a good time!!

In a city full of bars that are trying too hard to be cool and flashy, I have finally found a place I can reside!

I don't want to be surrounded with LA douchey clubheads, or stuffy bars that think they are way too cool. At Bigfoot Lodge, you will feel comfortable and have a good time.

The place has a interior that fits the name. When you walk in, you will feel like you are in a little wooded area. The animatronics are hilarious, and definitely picture worthy (especially after a few drinks).

Bartenders wear boy scout shirts and are quick and friendly. I was impressed with how cheap the drinks were here. It's hard to find a good cocktail at a good price.

Another perk is that they have live trivia (which I'm a sucker for) AND karaoke on certain nights during the week.

You'll see some celebs do their best rendition of their favorite song which always is entertaining. Everyone gets into the karaoke - which makes it even MORE FUN!

Get there early to grab a seat during karaoke and trivia days. But don't just take up their tables, drink!!

Such a fun time :)

Came here for a Yelp event once back in 2007 and had a blast hanging out with some really cool Yelpers. ;)

The whole design is supposed to give this "woodsy" cabin feel and the lighting is dim to add to the effect.

Parking is on the street or the lot nearby.

OMG.. this place is a hoot!

You feel like you're transported to a cabin in the woods... a cabin where they serve some really good drinks and keep you entertained with some kitschy decor, that is. ;-)

The people here seemed to be really cool as well. The bartender was a doll and served up some great drinks for us. Make sure to try the toasted marshmallow ith flaming marshmallow and all! Everyone in there seemed to be in a good mood and pretty friendly for the most part.

Only bummer is they don't sell food cuz could really come up with some fun dishes to go with their concept. We had to leave when we got hungry but def loved hanging out here and will FOR SURE be back!

I was born and raised in Atwater... and I have a weird fascination with Sasquatch... so this place is basically my mecca... I also do not drink and if I do I get fancy cocktails or mixed drinks. Their girl scout cookie drink is by far one of the best drinks I have had. They also have decent bloody marys, and other drinks. People are friendly, of course theres the hipster crowd, but people are usually very nice and more talkative than at the Griffin. This is more of a mixed crowd, plus awesome decor. Bingo and karaoke and theme night to boot!

I have two words for you: TOASTED. MARSHMALLOW. You must try this drink. PLEASE, some bartender up in the SF bay area, PLEASE learn how to make this drink! It is the richest, yummiest, fun, unique, feel-good drink I've ever had at a bar. Think toasting marshmallows is just something you do while camping!? Wrong. This treat can also be enjoyed while hitting on the stranger next to you at this crowded (cozy), nicely decorated bar. Lots o' fun to be had here.

This place has been a mixed bag....

Has a Yosemite Park type of feel inside... nice big booths...axe carrying squirrel and they have some interesting drinks.. toasted marshmallow, girl scout cookie..

But what can i say about a place that has Moonshine shots....

Still the first part of our Los Feliz bar crawl... and its been 50/50 were we have a beer and bounce..
Sometimes they have a food truck right outside.....

Went there on Dec 5 for Prohibition night... was pretty good event and the Manhattans were top notch....

Plus this place was in Yes Man...with Jim Carey.....

Hopefully 2013 will be a nice change for Bigfoot...

It's loud and full of hipsters, but I LOVE this place! My fave is the Smokey the Bear statue and taxidermy animals. If you go there at Halloween, they're wearing masks. LOL It's even a great place for a date. Cool, eclectic and varied music, and the beer is cheap. Very casual place and lots of FUN!

It appears that the legend of the Sasquatch is nothing more than a mere hoax.

For nearly a decade, the Lodge has been a staple of the Atwater Village (nightlife) scene. However, the joint has taken a turn for the worst.

No more then a few years back, prices were reasonably set for the everyday patron. Nowadays, draft selections start out at $7. PBR's come at five "FRICKING" dollars. Depending on your choice of poison, well-drinks range in the vicinity of $8-$14.

Oh don't worry folks ... a small bag of beer nuts is "generously" offered at $5.

As I disgracefully took down my $10 glass of Johnny Walker, something at the corner of my eye made me cringe. I couldn't believe it, peeps. The Lodge now provides, ..a waiting staff. Yes, I'm talking about the Big Foot Lodge

How pretentious has this place become?

This bar kind of reminded me of Boulder Creek up near Santa Cruz, which made me really happy. It certainly has a lodge-like feel.

I thought it was odd that they had a DJ, but I wasn't complaining because he was playing some pretty low-key music so it didn't take away from the laid-back feel of the bar. The clientele seemed... like they may have all been in the Drama Club in high school (take that however you want).

But honestly, people go to a bar to drink. So yeah, decent beer selection at a not-so-decent price. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, so combined with the atmosphere this makes for a nice place to grab a drink.

Where to start......
Well, good ol los feliz..
I usually wouldn't come to a place like this but hey it never hurts to try someplace new.
The name fits the place, The Bigfoot lodge. When I stepped in this place I thought I was walking through the line for Splash Mountain at Disneyland lol.
I believe we went on a Wednesday night, totally random. The atmosphere was chill. It was super dark and I felt like I was in a cabin in the woods.

Its a dive bar... I can't really remember how much drinks were, because I came here a while ago. I don't think I would come back here though.
Its a cool, chill spot if you live around the area.

I love this bar. I remember when I was barely 21 and came in here for a birthday. I knew right away that this was rapidly jumping to the front of the line for favorite bars. The decor is dark and very appropriate for a bar of this nature. They show old black and white car themed movies on the walls. I like grabbing a drink and heading to the back to sit in one of the booths, this is great spot for ample people watching.

The drinks are on par, quality and price wise for this area. It's affordable, but not for nightly drinking escapades. The line outside on the weekends can be a hassle, which usually leads people down the street to the roost. Another classic bar, but for entirely different reasons. Anyhow, as I was saying before the drinks and the ambiance are fantastic. The type of people hanging out there on the other hand are a little boarder line toolish and hipster. You never know if you're going to be incessantly hit on or ignored.

This is a great bar to frequent before heading off to the other bars in Los Feliz or on the way into Hollywood.

Been here a few times. Staff is friendly and relatively attentive. They have a good beer selection and liquor selection.
I have grown to love a good old fashion and they make a good old fashion. Nice and strong as well as a tasty punch.
They usually play really good music.
Their marshmallow drink is also a good try to get going.
This place is fun not just for an easy night out but also for a full night of drinks, talks, music and dance.
Warning, while I enjoy this bar there are a lot of those people that are "too cool for themselves" my girlfriends and I at one point got up from our booth and danced a little. Take in mind we were the only ones dancing the whole time we were there.
If your question is "where you drunk" the answer is no, just enjoying ourselves and have fun with a drink or two.
There is lots of seating, booths, high top table, and the bar.
Definitely worth a visit.

This was our last stop on a fun night of debauchery, and I have to say, it was definitely the best stop of the night. QUALITY drinks at dive bar prices. Speedy and friendly bartenders, who actually pay attention to the bar in order to make sure everybody has been fully accommodated with alcohol, YES.

If you want a show with your drink, try the Toasted Marshmallow and watch as they transport you to summer camp days as they set a marshmallow on fire on top of your deliciously satisfying drink of baileys and more.

I also recommend trying the moonshine shot, if you're feeling adventurous...nobody really knows what's in it, but it's guaranteed to be strong and pack a punch!

The place literally looks like it's straight up out of a Disneyland splash mountain inspired bar, and I loved it. I'll definitely be back!

I'm ALL about themed bars, so I immediately enjoyed this place once I stepped in.

I ordered the famous Girl Scout Cookie Martini...Yep, it's pretty amazing. It is VERY STRONG, so be mindful when you order them! Even though it's $10 a pop, it gives you a decent buzz after one or two.

Park in the neighborhood...it's not hard to snag a spot.

There is PLENTY of seating, which isn't typical for most places. That is a big plus.

Crowd is a good mix and they keep to themselves. I haven't witnessed this place on a busy night, so I can't judge.

The only thing I didn't like about this place was the music...too loud and the playlist consisted of punk rock or indie-folk shit. Not really my style, especially when there's screaming involved. I sound like an old lady...

Overall, I'd like to go again and give it a second try.

Ambiance was great. Loved the specialty drinks (thanks to fellow yelpers, had to try the girl scout cookie and it was ridiculous).

We came around 9pm so we could save a booth for us and our friends for a birthday celebration. Place was pretty empty and plenty of seating. Picked out a big booth in the back and ordered a girl scout cookie and a jager and redbull ($19.50 later). But, it's LA. I expect to spend a lot of money for drinks here. Music was at a great level.

As the night started, people came and as each song ended and a new one began, it got louder and louder. By 1am, I couldn't even hear myself talking to my friend next to me. SERIOUSLY??? Why does it have to be that loud!! I am a music lover and love when music is in the background but when you are screaming at the person next to you, it is not enjoyable to me.

So, this I think this place is a good place to start out and get some yummy drinks and chill in the booth and then start heading out around 11. Definitely not a "go all the time" type of place.

GET THE GIRL SCOUT COOKIE!! :)

Ehh, I think I'm over this.

The first time I came to Bigfoot Lodge, I liked their quaint boy scouts / lumberjack-style decor and appreciated the fact that there are places to sit. That generally held true the second time, only I began to notice that now it was pretty cramped and whenever people are in the place and talking, the music gets cranked.

The third time I was there, I was pretty fed up of the mega-loud music. I also began to notice that draft beers were $7, which isn't necessarily highway robbery, but the value begins to disappear for me at about that point. It's also not exactly like I can say, "Hey, bartender dude, what's this beer like?" and have him give me an intelligible answer. So instead I have to point at shit like a guy who's just learned English and he has to respond in kind by holding up seven of his fingers.

So if I don't want to drink, and I can't talk to my friends, why for the love of Christ did I decide to go out in the first place? I swear I'm like some kind of lost soul in LA searching for a bar where I can hear myself think or a place where I can have a conversation.

Concluding Thought: if your bar's packed, move a barstool out of the way so people can queue up at the newly-created gap and order without having to linger over someone's shoulder. It'll probably make things easier on your bartenders, too. LA bar owners: if it strikes you as a good idea, take it and run with it.

I really enjoyed this place! I never really come out to this area. Came last Wednesday with my bf and his friends for trivia night! We got there early to get a good table and have some drinks. I ordered the Toasty Marshmallow per Yelpers advice. It was delicious!!! Tasted like coffee with liquor! It was topped off with a toasted marshmallow too! The only down side was the price ($10). :( They've got a great selection of beers on tap as well. :)

For a Wednesday night it wasn't too crowded but it was not lonely and empty. Good crowd and vibe. Love the look of this place - its like we're in a log cabin. Clean and neat. Doesn't wreak of smoke like some places I've been. Even the bouncers out front were nice and even smiled! Usually I encounter bouncers who take their job too seriously and always have this mean look.

I'd definitely come back!

Very cool place to check out, at least once.

I would rate it a bit higher if it had parking... Finding a spot to park on the surrounding streets is always a chore, and we typically end up blocks away. My friend even had her car broken into while we were drinking there once... And another friend was mugged walking back to her car from the bar.

Small, kitchy, log cabin themed bar with friendly bartenders, and moderately priced, strong drinks. The place can get packed pretty easily... Which is my cue to go on to the next pub.

Definitely worth a visit, but be sure to get there early enough to park nearby.

I have now been here a few times and I must say I enjoy it. I like the decor, and the strong cocktails, especially the lack of crowd.

But I've been staring at this page for a couple minutes now, wondering why I can't justify a 4-star review. These are the conclusions I came to.

The things I enjoy the most are the stiff drinks, the kitschy decor, and mostly the fake fireplace and unique fixtures. But I feel like heavy hands and good interior designers are a dime a dozen in L.A. and you need much more than that to really stand out and make me need to go out of my way to come to a pricey bar with little parking.
I would only drive 20 miles out of my way for the bingo night. The only time that I think is actually fun. The host is silly, the games are goofy but not wild enough to be put off or feel like a trashy bachelorette party, and the prizes are sweet.

Here's what takes 2 stars away from this fine establishment.
NUMBER ONE, the wait to get a cocktail. Sheeeesh, what's a girl gotta do to get a drink in this place? I mean the bar is never open, and the bartenders take orders with priority to the people sitting at the bar, even when you've been waiting longer to order. The smug attitude, which is already quite prevalent in L.A., on top of the wait doesn't make my 10$ taste any sweeter.
The crowd is also always a bit cold and prickly, where as bars like Harvard and Stone are welcoming and vivacious.
It's far, but that's a personal problem. Isolated on the other hand, is just a fact. No sweet taco trucks, or late night cafes, or even drive thrus anywhere around. C'mon tacos? Where you at?

Despite these, I'll still pop in every once in a while, but just like the bartender, I just can't give this place my priority service. Sorry guys.

The slow fade of life tends to blend into itself and disguises. This equals that and when it's all said and done, we forget the details and remember the general picture. But the details are what makes it all possible, makes it all great, makes it something we should remember. A slow glance or a mischievous touch of the hand that means so little yet so much. A jealous heart, a devil in the glass, a flask to refill and one thousand other fragmented sentences that culminate in a night that ended as secretly hoped.

Bigfoot Lodge is place where loud music hides banal conversations, drinks are stiff, tables are dark and booths give the excuse to sit close. The ambiance is log-cabin with hipster-flair, and not overdone. It's really a perfect escape from the average Los Angeles bar.

Plus: they have a s'mores drink. Need I say more?
