its ok, not fantastic, but was a decent place - until... dun dun dun... IT MOVED!
This location is closed and boarded up. Â I dont know where they moved to. Â Dont waste your time.
However, if you know where they move to, it's worth checking out. Â Its fairly cheap pool table - like $9 an hour.
Great place, all new and very clean. No beer yet, he said they are waiting another 30 days for the license. We had the place completely to ourselves, I hope they can stay in business. I notice there is very little web presence, I think an attractive website for this business could bring in customers. The address is 3458 N San Fernando, 90065, not 4006 as shown above, open from 2pm weekdays and 12 noon weekends.
Review Source:You know what? Â This place isn't so bad. Â That said, it's not for everyone. Â That said, it's the only place I know this close to LA where you can play Snooker. Â And they also have Russian Pyramid tables, and I don't know anywhere else that offers that.
The crowd when I went was mostly a bunch of older dudes playing backgammon or something. Â I guess they serve coffee and tea; there are little jars full of sugar cubes placed around some of the pool tables. Â It was quite smoky inside there, so that's a definite [-1 star] from a spoiled non-smoking Californian!
I didn't really observe the American pool tables, but the snooker and Russian tables did look fairly worn. Â While they were flat, there were definite scuffs by the starting points for the "colored" snooker balls. Â On the Russian table I used, the cloth was completely worn on the table underneath the rail cushions, creating little grooves and preventing the balls from rolling straight (as if that game isn't already hard enough). Â And finally, the old building's support pillars are too close to some of the tables, making it difficult to shoot from certain angles. Â I'll have to dock a star there [-1].
This place is pretty awesome other than those few negatives I mentioned. Â Snooker is insanely hard, and I'm not sure if Russian Pyramid is any easier (check wikipedia for info on each). Â It would seem to make sense that if you got good at these games then you could destroy all your friends at 8-ball in a more local bar or pool hall, so that is why I recommend you check out the Green Room in Glendale. Â Just give it a shot; bring a friend and your printed-out rules for Snooker or Russian Pyramid and find out how good you aren't! Â (lol)
