I have been up and down on Bistro. This visits warrants a 3.5 but I am rounding down. Everything was in the good to okay category. My French onion soup was obviously the bottom of the kettle and was more like gravy than soup albeit tasty soup. My son and his wife split the duck while the said it was good they felt it was undercooked and the fat was not crispy. While the Bartender did not know how to mix a French 75 his failure to lookup how was pretty weak.

Bistro 310 has the best food, service and atmosphere in Columbus hands down. I'm a regular here. I gave this place 3 stars because I'm ranking it against restaurants outside the Columbus area.

A few key tips when dining here: sit in the bar area which has a much better atmosphere than the main dinning area, don't order the sushi (Columbus is land-locked after all), and try to get Patrick as your server or bartender - he's the absolute best, although all of the servers are generally nice and friendly. If you're not watching your weight, the chicken sandwich and fries from the pub menu is pretty damn good.

Our dinner was amazing! I made the reservation through Yelp two weeks in advance. They had our table waiting for us when we arrived. The hummus and warm pita bread appetizer was unbelievable. Very fresh and good. I had the Ahi tuna and would have it again without a question. My wife said that her Roast Chicken was the best meal she has had in Columbus. To finish we had the Flourless Chocolate Cake and it was an exclamation point on the evening. We were very impressed on our first visit to this restaurant.

Ended up at Bistro 310 last night with a group of 9 to celebrate February birthdays. We drove in from Indy, Bloomington and Terre Haute to join some friends from Columbus.

We were all really excited to be going there to try this chef-owned and driven restaurant! However, we did spend a couple of weeks stalking their website only to never find the February menu available.

Staff were very accommodating when making our reservation.

The restaurant is inviting inside and out. It's very classy, tidy and comfortable.

We ordered a variety of appetizers, sushi, grilled artichoke, baked brie, cheese and crackers and curry mussels. I enjoyed my mussels. The broth was hot, flavorful and the mussels were clean and plump. I kept sneaking table bread to soak up the delicious broth. My husband enjoyed his sushi, bar the accompanying mayo-type condiment. Appetizers were a real hit with the table.

It was around this time that our lovely server visited our table to take our orders. This went smoothly, except the lamb shank being unavailable. My friend who ordered the braised shank went with the alternate lamb loin dish.

Soup and salads came next. The Red Pepper Bisque was thin and bland. A little added salt helped it a lot, but there were a lot of half full bowls left at the table. My wedge salad was pretty good. The bleu cheese was creamy and tangy.

At some point, the server came back to say that there was only one filet left in the kitchen and we had ordered three. Two people changed their order, leaving the single filet available to one of us.

Shortly after, she came back to the final person saying that the lone filet was gone.

Our entrees arrived and, for the most part, looked gorgeous. Thought and attention was given to presentation and plating.

The lamb loin portion was embarrassingly small, though. It was in two pieces and I'd be surprised if it was more than three ounces total. The pieces weren't even in size and were cooked separately (not a large piece, sliced), leading me to believe that it was trimmings. The lamb was cooked very well and it tasted delicious. Thought there was only about 4 or 5 bites of it. The cauliflower and parsnip puree served with it was far too sweet. (One Star)

My Mushroom Carbonora was very bland. Very bland. The menu described smoked mushrooms, but there was no sign of any smokey or even roasted mushroom flavor. The poached egg was perfectly cooked, but there was so much water in the bottom of the bowl that I didn't have a creamy yolk coated pasta, but rather spaghetti sitting in an inch of yolky water. A little seasoning and maybe a splash of sherry would have done a lot to help. (One Star)

The duck was pretty good, but the breast was a little overcooked and the skin wasn't super crispy. The dijon sauce was really delicious. (Three Stars)

One of the steaks ordered medium was served more towards rare. The Bacon-Goat cheese tater tots are more like a croquette and they were crispy on the outside and creamy inside, but the taste of goat cheese was overwhelming. No sign of bacon. They were served nestled into some red pepper flavored goo. It was not delicious and oddly gritty. (Two stars)

The Ahi tuna looked well cooked and was a good portion size for Ahi. I didn't taste this, but the diner who ordered it really enjoyed it. (Three Stars).

There was potential in all of the entrees and none of them were inedible.

A few of us hung in for dessert, but some did not. There were a couple of people that just gave up at this point, but a few of us that know a good dessert can be very redeeming!

Apple Tart came out looking really tight and delicious. Unfortunately, the three that were at our table had caramel sauce that was very burnt tasting. My flourless chocolate cake was served with a vanilla bean lollipop. Firstly, the cake was ice cold and I found that unusual. Warm would have been nice, but even room temperature would have been better. The lollipop was a small scoop of vanilla ice cream in a thick hard chocolate shell. It tasted a little freezer burned, but the chocolate wasn't of good quality at all. A scoop of ice cream with a warm chocolate sauce would have been worlds better. The espresso chocolate creme brulee didn't have much of a sugary shell and the interior was grey in color.

We were really taken care of, staff wise. They were generous with their time and helpful in making choices. Our drinks were kept full and we were really treated well.

I hate leaving this review because I wanted to love it. The menu is exciting. We all left in agreement that if the person in charge of our meals could cook as well as the menu was written... it would have been a huge win.

This is a nice little joint. The food is a bit on the foo-foo side so if that is your thing this is a place to check out. Our waitress had a great personality and the service was excellent. I used a certificate I had bought from http://Restaurant.com with no problem so was able to get a lot of bang for my buck. And given that this place is a bit on the upscale side, the prices still aren't bad.

Went here for my big birthday (yes, I'm a few decades old.)

Was a good place. Can't say I'd drive back to Columbus specifically for the experience, but if I'm in town...

Service was good - they cleared the tables quickly and were polite, which is important on a special occasion.

Appetizers were great. They offer sustainable fish options. But my entree fell half-way short.

Ordered short ribs (I don't get beef often, except from haters). First thing I noticed was that the mashed potatoes tasted like pure salt. Then the first half of my short ribs were nearly inedible - nearly all fat, and I nearly sent them back. But then the second half was perfect - little fat, super tasty, perfectly cooked to my medium request.

    Dessert was good.

Decor in the main dining room was lacking. We were sat in the back corner, which was fine for a large party, but the buffet table next to us looked like the most afterthought item in the house, with a few pieces of fake plants and candles carelessly strewn about. Bistro 310 should pay as much attention to the back of the house as the front.

But yes, I'd go again. And I'd be prepared to let half of my short ribs go to my dogs - they need a reminder every now and again of how much I love them.

We reserved a table for the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We were from out-of-town, so made our selection based on the innovative menu and location. There were two prix-fixe menus for the special weekend, but we opted to order from the dinner menu. Our table was in a good location, and there was a jazz trio playing, but the food and service were poor. We hadn't complained, but the waitress apologized for the long wait for our food. I ordered a medium-rare strip steak which arrived cold, along with the rest of my meal. The steak was tasteless and tough, and for the price, unacceptable.
