Black Thorn Pub

I know this place is a big St Louis favorite, but I've been pretty unimpressed.  I've had both the deep dish and the thin crust pizzas and though I thought the thin crust was better, I thought they both were mediocre.  The biggest problem is the sauce--it tastes like tomato paste with some herbs in it.  Theres nothing special about the cheese and the crust is meh.  Its too bad because Black Thorn is so close to my house, but I won't be coming back.

If you love Chicago style pizza this is the place to go. This is the closest I've found to the real deal, but be prepared to wait and get there early because it fills up really fast.

LOVE blackthorn.  They have fantastic deep dish pizza.  It's a serious dive bar - not fancy, rips in all the booth seats, etc.  Not too many TVs.  And they won't hurry with your meal!  Sit down, enjoy a beer, and chill out until they call your name.
