I have tried to love this place, but I just can't. Part of the problem is on my end...I just don't like pickles, and they are in a lot of their dishes. The burger is serviceable. If I return, I will get that.
We went on a practically empty weekday night, and waited a disproportionately long time for our food. When one dish had shrimp instead of oysters the excuse offered was that the kitchen was "slammed." I'm not sure by what, but the waitress had to say something to save her tip.
I will still happily come here for drinks.
I decided to take my family down here one nice sunny afternoon because of the location and my experience with lunch at the same location. Â When we get there, they have a parking lot attendant that stops you and lets you know where to park, which is good because you can't see the parking situation around the end of the building. Â Some of my family were on motorcycles and they were told that they couldn't park in front because of the lack of room, only to discover that here were about 10 parking locations near the front door for them (only slightly annoying.)
It goes a bit down hill from here. Â We get to the front door and they indicated a 25 minute wait (which the attendant the parking lot mentioned the same.) Â We indicated that we would like to sit anywhere, and that inside was acceptable because of the outdoor seating wait times. Â I did notice that only about half of the seats inside were occupied in the restaurant. Â Nearly 45 minutes later we decided to check on our status of the table and they mentioned that it would be another 25 minutes.
During our extended wait we decided to have some beer on the back deck but were ushered from place to place with the employees stating "oh you can't have a beer here in the walkway, you can't have a beer here near the stairs" and so on. Â Now granted they have some tables indicated no alcoholic beverages, but no signs indicating where you can drink your beer anywhere (again, only slightly annoying.)
Finally, one of the managers or owners must have heard me complaining because she came out to talk to me and within about 10 minutes we had our table. Â She also gave us a free round of drinks (3 adults) which I thought was nice recompense. Â Another 40 minutes passed and we got our food, which we consumed with famished fervor in about 15 minutes. Â
So, all in, we spend about 2 hours and 15 minutes there for 15 minutes of eating. Â I asked the server why the tables were empty and there was such a long wait, and she mentioned that they didn't want to overload the kitchen and cause a wait. Â Now I saw the kitchen had about 6 cooks and 2 preps, but food was pilled up in the window. Â Maybe an expediter, or some better prep work would give the kitchen some efficiency to allow for their entire restaurant to be seated during busy hours. Â I would hope that they could do this at some point, or they will have issues turning a profit you would think.
The food was fairly good (although I would have eaten a tree branch at that point and thought it was wonderful.) Â The dessert was awesome (Blueberry crisp.)
Some good points:
1.) The view was great
2.) They had live music which was nice
3.) The employees were very nice!
4.) They had some decent beer on tap
This would have been a 1 star review without the free round of drinks to show that they had empathy. Â This would have been a 4 star review if they had service that reflected the potential of the place. Â I would say that 2.5 stars is where they reside today based on my experience.
We ordered food here in the mid-afternoon on a Sunday. After nearly ninety minutes, it showed up cold and dry, which means it sat under a heat lamp for a while. We asked for a refire on it. Â The staff refused to refire our burgers, claiming they were fresh. Â They dumped out another order of calimari into a plate and handed it to me. Â The only discernable taste of the food was salt, with respect to the calimari, and - strangely - sugar with respect to the burger. Â Disgusting.
Review Source:I have mixed reviews of this place... My dad belongs to the yacht club right next door so we thought we would check this place out. The first time we went, we sat inside and were amazed at the cluster of employees sitting in the first booth (abt 5 of them) counting their tips and talking about their plans for the Saturday night. They would jump up check on their tables and return to chat. I ordered dinner and the food and service was mediocre at best.
I came back a second time to watch the sunset on the patio, which has a beautiful view, and best of all, they had a place for us to dock the boat right outside. Kat was our server, she was a doll. Drinks were on point and delicious. Appetizer (calamari) was delish as well. So all in all, I had a bad experience and a good experience. I think they might just need a chance to iron out the kinks and maybe reel in the employees to not hang out in the public eye.
Great view, food is good, but I would agree with other reviewers, the wait staff is really strange. Â I don't pay good money for food to have the wait staff tick me off. Â If you want to invite a working crowd at lunch, keep it moving. Â I can't sit in a restaurant comfortably for an hour and a half. Â There were two parties besides myself when I arrived, no coffee, no water, nothing for 15 minutes. Â The service was very sllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooowwww throughout the meal, then the waitress decided we should hurry up and order dessert while we were still eating. Â When we told her we would like to finish our meal after her second request, she put the brakes on and made us wait a very long time to order dessert. Â Soup of the day was billed as chicken tortilla, it was over salted chicken noodle. Â My salad was wonderful, and my friend seemed to enjoy meal. Â It could be a great place, but I think I'll pass on another visit based on other reviews.
Review Source:everyone is way too fired up. this was a more than okay place! lots of critical, square yuppies from UP give this place a bad name. (note, we are a young couple in our early 20s who have had the joy of eating at very fine establishments across the world) Â salmon portions are slightly small for their price but tastes are fine. the burger was great, albeit a bit sloppy. the condiments are delicious. Â more refinement in the drinks would be nice, the sour cherry gin drink was more sweet than sour, but certainly delivered on the gin. one of the lemonade drinks , though had no taste of vodka.
service was great with a prompt seating from the hostess, and karly our server did a wonderful job. can't wait to return on a warm day and try other drinks.
I won't be back! When we walked in the host asked "do you need something?" Not so welcoming. My server was in-experienced in my opinion and my food was mediocre. I asked them to make a few changes that were simple and nothing was communicated. I am big on customer service and I was very disappointed.
Review Source:I've been here for dinner and happy hour and if you can, skip dinner. The food is good, but honestly for the price, you're better off going to happy hour.
Happy hour can get really crowded which is a bummer because the service goes down a little depending on your server, and not the typical "sorry we're busy" service; but we've had waiters go AWOL and seen our food waiting in the window.
The calamari is the best thing there, we order it every time. We usually have some sliders and clams, which are always good. The pulled pork ones are alright, and the regular sliders are nothing special but good to try. The clams are great but once we ordered them and got a huge amount, it was basically a double order, then last time we ordered them there was barely any in the dish. The burgers are pretty good, the specials are so-so. Consistency hasn't been there but I haven't had an experience so bad that I wouldn't return. It's a you-should-try kind of place, not a the-best-food-ever kind a place.
Took friends for lunch on a sunny weekday. Â Got the last table out on the deck, great way to show off the beautiful northwest spring to out of town guests. Â Ordered chilli cheese fries for appetizer to start, came quickly and was a great large platter, easily enough for all 4 of us to share. Â Service was good today, it can be off like others have mentioned. Â If anything it was a bit too quick, I had my plate removed before I'd finished my last bite, and my drink refilled before I'd taken my last slurp! My friend ordered the clams and asked for a little bread to slop up the juices...she had to ask a couple times and then the garlic bread was delivered...too much olive oil and chopped garlic to do the sopping up of the clam juice! I'd stay away from that order! Overall our friends enjoyed their meal, location and most of the service! We'll be back!
Review Source:We showed up at this place at opening time (11am) on Mothers Day - just two of us. Got a table in about 15 minutes, got to put in our order about 10 minutes later, and then... got to do a lot of waiting.
Unfortunately, and not the restaurant's fault, we were right next to a very obnoxiously loud party of 10 or 12. Perhaps their mothers hadn't taught them anything about not screaming at the top of their lungs in restaurants.
But all that noise wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't still been waiting 90 minutes later for lunch. Long after the aforementioned noisy table -- whose order had been taken at the same time as ours, by the same server -- had finished their meal (and returned to their shouting) we still had nothing but lukewarm diet coke.
When we finally got the server's attention, he said he would check into it. 10 minutes later, we stood up to leave. We intercepted him on our way out the door. His explanation: "I don't know what happened. That order got lost."
Perhaps he didn't feel it was his job to keep track of orders and customers. We'll likely never find out -- we won't return to Boathouse 19.
Note: we understand that Mothers Day is a busy time in the restaurant business, and we didn't expect speedy service. But we did hope to be treated as if we were there...
The setting is nice and the decor is good. Can't say anything about the food... never got any. The service? On this day, below par.
Ok, so where do I start?
I have been here five times in the last month for various reasons- happy hour with a friend, date night with my fiancé, family dinner, etc. Just this evening I was in to celebrate Mothers Day. With that said, though each experience has been rocky, I continued coming back because I was hopeful it would get better. The place has so much potential and I truly want it to do well, as the restaurant is less than a mile from our home and has an enjoyable atmosphere, not to mention a kick ass view.  Unfortunately, after this last visit to Boathouse 19, I have lost all hope. Â
The restaurant is really hit and miss in terms of both service and food, though the majority of the time it is a miss. There is absolutely  no consistency which kills me. In terms of the waitstaff, we have always had negative experiences up until tonight. Tonight our servers were Eric and Cassie, both of whom were AWESOME. They were friendly, courteous, and attentive. Other than tonight, however, all of our past servers have been quite the opposite- cold, detached, and rushed. The smallest requests have been treated as inconveniences and some requests have been completely forgotten. There have been times that I have had to literally walk to the front of the restaurant to get ketchup or a to-go box because our server is either unavailable or absentminded.
The food is about the same. There are a few solid food items, but the rest have been unimpressive and/or inedible. Of the five times I have been here, there have been three food items that have been returned by either myself or one of my party guests. And trust me, I hate to make a fuss when I eating out and am generally pretty flexible, but these three items were so bad that I couldn't even manage a fake smile.
In terms of the good, I would recommend the Crispy Calamari, Cajun Fries, Pike Place Oyster Fry, Oregon Blueberry Crisp, and Bananas Foster. My sister is also a big fan of the Macaroni & Cheese though it is a bit too rich for me. Nice beer selection too, I might add.
Items I would advise you not to order would include the Garlic Bread (drenched in oil to the point that it is soggy wet), Fried Pickles (don't like that they use sweet pickles), Hand Shucked Oysters (there are always a ton of shell fragments in them), San Francisco Cioppino (tasted like spaghetti sauce and contained very little evidence of seafood), Pulled Pork Sliders (they are just 'meh'), and Strawberry Shortcake (the biscuits were horribly dry).
What finally provoked me to write this review? My mom ordered the coconut prawns for her mother day meal this evening and it was so bad that my she asked for it to be returned and not remade. The prawns had little flavor and the coconut rice was a cold, mushy mess. It kind of made me feel like crap considering this was supposed to be my mom's special day.
I will say that the manager seems like a good guy and genuinely wants to make his customers happy. Sadly, I think it will take a lot more than kind words and comped items. I would start with new cooks, or at least properly training the ones you already have. From there I would hire some new servers, or if possible, just clone Eric and Cassie.
All in all, I will be hesitant in returning back to Boathouse 19. The only thing I may come back for is a drink on the deck or dessert. Other than that, I think I will wait until I see better and more consistent reviews pop up.
My family of 4 gave this place 2 chances to wow us and did not deliver. Our 2 visits were 2 months apart and experience was the same. Servers were lazy and took way to long to get our food. Last night I had the fish tacos and was not worth $11 very small portion and the side of corn tasted like it came from a can. On the better note the beer selection is OK. The location of this restaurant is amazing, right on the water front, but the owners need to get they're act together if they are to survive. The RAM is much better.
Review Source:I can't give this a 3. Â Tomato soup was spaghetti sauce for sure. Â Burger was rare in the center. Â Potato salad must have been from a large batch made somewhere off site....had better at a funeral in '01. Â
Anyway, service was really good.....oh, and do not waste your $13 on the half dozen oysters. Â Small, thin, very little.....far better oysters elsewhere. Â Will go back for drinks only.
Wait, it's now a couple hours after going to Boathouse 19. Â Both my girlfriend and I both had to take some pepto. Â Stomachs turning a bit. Â Correction: Â will not go back.
We've been to Boathouse 19 a few times, but do not plan to return. I understand the novelty of the place... Being able to dock and dine is unique. The setting is interesting, the decor is modern, the deck is nice in the summer months. That's where the good times end for me.
The quality of the food has declined with every visit, almost as if the owners decided, "We're going to fill the dining room regardless of the product we deliver, so let's save a few bucks." On our last visit, two in our party ordered the saddest excuse for jambalaya I have ever seen. It was essentially a pile of mushy rice and little else. My fish tacos were terrible... Oversauced and wet, with little actual fish to be found. One in our party ordered sliders, which were also depressing... Overcooked into little meteorites.
Our experience with service here has always been spotty at best. The bartenders always seem rushed which makes them come off as rude. The wait staff largely does not seem to understand the menu. The restaurant does not accept reservations for less than 11(!) people... Which just seems to be a way to make you wait in the bar and order more drinks.
Think I'd rather cook at home.
We were a party of five on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was pretty empty so we had the choice of tables. The restaurant sits on a dock at the end of 19th Street with a view of recreational boat docks and a storage area, not sure I would call it scenic, but it is what it is. The restaurant has been decorated in pretty minimalist decor and could really loud if they are ever at capacity. There are a bunch of flat screens around the restaurant so I guess they are trying to be sports bar as well. The food was good, nothing great and it's nothing you haven't seen at 100 other places. Is it some place to go for casual dining? Sure. Is it some place for something special? No
Review Source:Worst service ever! When we asked a question about the menu server answered like we should know. Never returned to fill our water. After waiting  30+ minutes for lunch on a Monday we asked how much longer and were told the manager was working on it. When food arrived it was cold. Told the server and he asked if we wanted it remade. Told him no we did not have the time said he would take it off our bill, he grabbed the plates.  Did not even comp the 1 pop we had while we waited for the kids to eat. A manger never showed up at our table.
Just talked to manager on the phone he got a different story from the server. Â May try it again because of him. He seems to understand customer service. Added a star.
I was here for a business lunch with clients, my first time here! What a cool place and a real Northwest Gem! I had the Ultimate BLT with Cajun fries and it was great and different than most BLT's I've had. Homemade bread with 2 strips of bacon. The location is great, right down on the shores of Puget Sound with wonderful views looking west and north at the Narrows Bridges.
The building is a refurbished boathouse and it sits right next to the marina. It's a little out of the way but well worth the short drive down the hill to be at such a unique location. I can't believe I didn't know about this place until now. The food was great and the service was excellent! I'll be back!
Service was great. Seemed overtly sports bar-like to me. Overall the food was good, but not great (salads were however, great). Calamari was too squishy and pre-processed from the texture of it me thinks. Burgers were really good. Great locale on the water and docks. Interior theme makes good use of reclaimed wood and is clever (and clean) -suggest the glaring overhead lights at booths be dimmed down or changed out to lower wattage bulbs (they're blinding actually). Â Really like this place, but would like to see a little more oomph as far as menu items. Perhaps less pub grub and more fish and steak/ meat offerings.
For a hip place, I expected to see patrons a bit more dressed up, and a little less sports team garb and sweats. Don't dress up, it's not that kind of place - yet.
I've been here a few times, ranging from summer to winter. Each time I go, I'm not that impressed with the service, or the food. The drinks, especially during happy hour is what makes this restaurant worth coming back to. I've tried the steak salad, french dip, cheeseburger and fish tacos, and they were just so-so. The same goes for it's service...nothing special, and a little un organized and strange to see all of the servers/hosts gathering in the center of the restaurant where the register is and socializing for long periods of time, while glasses go empty.
Overall, I would come here during happy hour, order some appetizers and a good drink. They also have good desert and the best view of the bridge and sound you can ask for.
PLEASE NOTICE, 4 STARS IS FOR THE FOOD ONLY!! We went for happy hour tonight and the food was outstanding, hats off to the chef!! The service however??? And believe me, we weren't the only ones looking around for our server! Let me just say I'll give this place one more chance just because the food was great...
I'd like to add a solid Zero star review for our waiter, he was soo bad!! Don't bother asking him questions about the menu, because he'll come up with a cleaver little remark to make you feel stupid. Maybe everyone should just know how big the portions are and how many of the item comes with it. Seemed like he just wrote us off when a bigger table arrived, he looked at the ground everytime he walked by us to get them, they were right behind us! Horrible! Never felt so judged at a restaurant before, seriously...Little to harsh? Go and see for yourself!
We had a great lunch here today! Â Very nice modern decor, and felt cozy on a gloomy day. Â Would be nice in the summer to eat outside but also on a pouring down rainy day for a hot drink, looking out at the water.
I had the burger - added Cheddar cheese and crisp bacon, but it turned out the bacon was really unnecessary. Â Very good burger!! Â Thick patty, with some sort of Southwest-tasting sauce, slightly sweet pickles, onion, lettuce and tomato. Â I normally don't like a sauce on a burger but man oh man was this one YUMMY! Â I also had the Cajun fries - just regular fries tossed in spicy seasonings - but again, really tasty.
Anne had the Asian chicken salad - also VERY tasty - light and fresh. Â Even had rice "puff noodles" - nice touch.
Service was top notch - wasn't crowded though, so can't speak to what it might be like on a busy weekend night.
Prices do tend a little higher than typical in this area - not a lot higher but definitely on the high end for a place like this. Â Also, I suspect it will be as others have said - LOUD when crowded. Â The floor is hardwood, and lots of reflective walls.
But overall it was a GREAT lunch! Â We do plan to come back. Â
Dave & Anne
Strange area of town but nice and secluded with a view of the boats in the harbor. Â Parking is ample though think they migh have a problem if it was really crowded. Â We ate outside. Â Inside looked dark and not well lit. Â Not sure if it was due to lighting or lack of windows. Â Ate outside so not sure.
Staff is friendly but young - very young it seemed but then I am old. LOL
Nice selection of drinks. Â We ordered sandwiches, me a cheeseburger and hubby a Rueben which was he special of the day on marble rye. Â Both were very good and he had potato salad which was average but my naked fries were great. Â Needed more ketchup though but did not ask for any. I got the cheeseburger with the special sauce a mixture of mayo and barbecue sauce I was told - it was tasty. Â We did not have desert but might next time and share a banana split. Â
All in all it was pretty good and we will probably go back. Â It is basically a bar and grill which does not matter to us.
Good thing my friends came, because they liked their meals and this keeps it from getting one star. Â I ordered the fish tacos. Â Terrible decision, I could barely finish one because the cod was so undercooked (and I like sushi!) the cabbage in the taco was over-represented by quantity vis a vis the fish and was not seasoned. Â The corn salad was dessert sweet (if the corn was too sweet they needed to add salt or find another element to make the flavor a bit complex) I barely made a dent and i was hungry. Â Yuk. Â I didn't send it back because I had two guests in town. Â
They liked their food. Â The bus person didn't bother to ask why 3/4 of my meal wasn't eaten (obvious issue) but not a big deal as I didn't put up a fuss. Â Not going back when I have guests in town.
I understand this place is new so i'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. I might bump my score if they improve.
The location is great and the interior of the restaurant is sleek and modern. There is also plenty of parking.
The service here is not so great. We spent a ton of time waiting. Waiting to be seated. Waiting to get drinks. Waiting to get appetizers. Waiting to get our meals. We also waited for an indoor table, only to be told when our buzzer thing went off that we were going to be seated outside. Um, no. That is not what we asked for. So we had to wait some more.
The staff is VERY young: almost all seemed to be teenagers and I agree that it seems like there is no real method to the madness going on in here.
My soup was lukewarm to cold by the time I got it, and I didn't bother trying to complain.
Honestly the whole time I was here, I was wishing I was at Steamers. :(
It seems the reviewers of this restaurant are pretty tight fisted with their stars. Â Here are my $0.02.
Location. Â Beautiful. Â Ample parking, though most of it is about 50 yards from the entrance to the restaurant. Â Seating over the water with views of the Narrows bridge and gorgeous sunsets. Â The trains that thunder past are somewhat distracting but do add a certain charm and uniqueness to the dining experience.
Staff. Â Most look very young. Â All were hustling around the room and there seemed to be a great sense of teamwork. Â Our server was Amber and she treated our party of 7 to great service. Â I asked questions about ingredients and items on the menu and she knew all the answers.
Drinks. Â The cocktail list is great. Â I had the Blackberry Mai Thai and it came served in a mason jar. Â The contrast between the sleek, modern feeling dinging room and the throwback style of drinks in mason jars was great. Â I skipped lunch and unlike other reviewers who claim the drinks are weak, I could feel my Mai Thai hitting me pretty good by the time the food hit the table, which was too bad because there were about 5 other cocktails I wanted to try... Â Btw, their Happy Hour only covers drinks: Draft beer is 50% off, and cocktails are $2 off. Â Food isn't covered, which is too bad as the listing of appetizers had many things I wanted to sample.
The menu. Â As mentioned above, the apps looked great. Â The entrees looked good as well. Â I went with a burger. Â The Boathouse 19 approach to burgers reminds me of The Burger Bar. Â This is Hubert Keller's upscale hamburger restaurant where you customize each element of your burger. Â You pick the type of bread, type of meat, sauces, toppings, and fries. Â Other menu options covered salads, sandwiches, fish tacos, fish and chips, mac and cheese and other upscale bar type food. Â My burger arrived quickly. Â It was exactly what I expected, but what surprised me, in a good way, was the fries and the dipping sauce. Â The fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned with cajun spices and the dipping sauce packed the perfect amount of kick. Â Others in our party ordered the fish tacos, grilled cheese and the veggie sandwich. Â Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Dessert. Â Again, it was tough to make a decision here. Â Fortunately, I convinced my wife she should get dessert as well, so I was able to try both the Triple Chocolate Brownie Sundae and the Lemon Cheesecake in a jar. Â The cheesecake was okay. Â Drier than I was expecting and a little boring, especially compared to the Brownie Sundae. Â It was really good.
I think this place has tons of potential and I wish I lived closer. Â I left feeling like there were many things on the menu I still wanted to try and I could sit on the deck and enjoy the views for hours. Â Was the visit perfect, no. Â Was it what I would have expected from reading other's reviews? Â It was way better. Â I can't wait to go back.
We came for happy hour and dinner. After reading the mixed reviews, I was unsure what to expect. Now that I've been there, I understand.
First off, there was no parking issue or a wait on Tuesday night, the staff were very friendly, and the outdoor seating looking across the water at the Narrows Bridges was quite nice. The music was at a nice volume and we settled in for our drinks and food.
Happy hour drinks are a great deal, especially 1/2 price for beers! I had a 22 oz Mac and Jack for $4! My GF had a tasty vodka strawberry lemonade with basil. We started with the server's recommendation of calamari. As he said, it was way more than "tubes and tentacles". Great breading and tender with a few jalapenos thrown in for good measure.
Our entrees were tasty. I had the fish tacos and it was a pretty small portion, just like Gwen B. said in her review. Good flavor though. I was eying the burgers all around me and kicking myself for my choice. My GF had the shrimp salad and thankfully it was too much for her so I could steal some.
All in all, a decent experience. Loud when the trains went by and I had to tackle a busboy to get some water on the table. I will be back, and eat a burger next time.
This place could get 5 stars if they got organized. I understand they don't take reservations because they are a casual establishment - and obviously because they don't need to. The wait is very, very long. It would be a nice gesture to their guests to go ahead and take reservations for dinner.
I ditched work early to meet a friend for Happy Hour and pulled into the lot at 4:15pm. Luckily we got on the list for the deck and the last table in the bar. The service was just OK, slow and the server seemed frazzled, almost annoyed. Over an hour later, at 5:30 pm we were seated outside. Then it all went magical. Our new server (Angeline I believe) was all over it! Friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was fast, really delicious and the views were perfection. Turkey burger with coca cola BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese was the best! Making my mouth water as I type.
Inside the wait for the deck was pushing 2 hours. t's a loud, harried, crowded place inside but once you get to the deck -- well, maybe it's worth the wait.
Here's the deal. If you're a restaurant on the water, you should be good. Why else would we drive all the way out there, just to look at the view? Come on.
That said, here's an overview:
I had a bowl of cioppino and a "weeds" salad. My friend ordered fish and chips.
Food: lackluster. Nothing about our food suggested nice ingredients, and the taste was mediocre. My cioppino was spicy but severely lacked flavor.
Service: they seemed a little scattered. Granted, it was busy, but it sorta felt like they were in a rush to get us out of there.
Ambience: loud. The restaurant is pretty, everything looks nice and new, the deck looks like a good place to hang out, but the place was packed and very loud. Also, expect to wait for the bathroom, which is too small for such a huge joint.
Price: this really is the reason I won't be returning. For such high prices, the food really doesn't deliver.
Pack a picnic or go to Ruston if you're looking for some good eats with a nice view. Everything was so subpar, or mediocre at best, that I don't see any reason to return.
First dinner here was a success. The shrimp po-boy was absolutely delicious. Side of potato salad very tasty. Fish tacos messy and yummy, a smallish but big-enough portion. Side of corn and tomato salad, though small, was great. For dessert we had the blueberry crisp, which lacked "crisp" (very squishy throughout) but tasted really good. View was nice, service was good (excellent recommendation on the shrimp po-boy).
Only complaints: the tiny bathroom, the very high noise level, and high proportion of fashionable, skinny white diners. Annoying, but not a deal-breaker.
Absolutely beautiful views, and great location.
1. The noise when busy is horrendous. No sound dampening. Unable to hold a conversation.
2. Plenty of servers, but service is mediocre.
3. After three visits, the food has failed to come even close to impressive, and for the prices they charge, it should be.
Realize they have to work out some kinks, but Driscoll is experienced and this should not be happening.
One more time, and if unchanged, I'm done !
Oh what a night!!
Table for 9 please, we heard that this is a great new place to eat! Â First impressions where great! Â Chelsea started off great. Â Took our orders and refilled our drinks while we waited for our food. Â Was always there when something ran low, she was doing a great job. Â
I ordered a burger with cheese and onions. Â When my food came, it was just a plain burger, no cheese no onions. Â I sent it back. Â A few minutes later my burger came back, this time with onions, cheese and avocado. Â I hate avocados, so I sent my burger back a 2nd time. Â A few minutes later it comes back, they had scraped off most but not all of the avocados. Â I refused my burger for a three time, wouldn't you? Â
They then decided to recook my whole burger, which took time. Â About the time everyone in my party was finishing their food, my 4th burger came. Â I felt rushed to eat it and didn't really enjoy it. Â The rest of my party enjoyed their food except for my daughter, she didn't like the ham and crackers on her Mac-n-cheese. Â I would also like to point out that after all the burger issues Chelsea wasn't around much. Â My drink was often empty. Â She didn't really check on the rest of the table either, I guess I scared her away.
We ordered desert, I had the Oregon Blueberry Crisp and it was great. Â The view is great, the location is great, the service and the food has a lot to improve on. Â We got there at 4:30 and didn't get out of there until almost 7:00. Â I guess it was really slow service. Â Â
The big kicker is that after sending my burger back three times they still charged us for it. Â I know most places would have comp'd my order after sending it back once. Â I'm not trying to get free food, but come on!!! I sent it back 3 times and was rushed to eat it when it finally did come. Â I think the overall service sucked and that is making me write my first review on Yelp. Â Let me know what you think. Â
Not sure if I will go back. Â Hopefully you have better luck.
I think we will give this place awhile to work out the "new restaurant kinks" before giving them another try. My husband and I stopped in for a cocktail & appetizer last night. We tried the Bloody Mary off of their specialty menu. It clearly states on the menu that it comes with "Bacon & Pickled Vegetables"...what it actually came with? "fatty, soggy Bacon & 2 green olives". Great concept, but needs some work. We ordered the Bay Shrimp Cocktail...pretty standard, figured it'd be hard to mess up. When it came both my husband & I were a little turned off by the presentation. It was just slopped down in a big bowl with a huge trail of cocktail sauce next to it. It tasted good, but even just putting it in a traditional seafood cocktail glass would probably make it more appetizing. A lady served us, who seemed to be overwhelmed & have a bit of an attitude. A simple smile would have been nice.
Aside from our negatives, the place does have great potential. It's a really nice atmosphere, but also has a casual vibe. They have a pretty spacious deck & although it was packed last night, I can definitely see myself going back to enjoy a meal &/or cocktails on a sunny day while taking in the beautiful view! Hopefully I will be updating this review in a couple months with 5 stars!
We went back about a week after our last visit only because we just got back from being away and needed a place to eat. Â Arrived about 5 thinking we could get deck seating only to be told that there was an hour and a half wait. Â Opted to sit in the restaurant which still has nice views but the noise level is so high you can't hold a conversation. Â We looked at the deck and while people were standing around waiting, it appeared there were empty tables. Â it takes way too long to get tables bused and ready for the next guests. Â We ordered fried pickles again and this time they we not good at all. Â too much batter and absolutely no taste.
People around here are anxious for a good place to eat and if this place wants to keep the residents coming, especially during winter when there is no sun and deck to sit on, they need to get better and not worse.
