Best crawfish in the area! We've been three times and it hasn't disappointed yet! If you go for HH during the week they have a small buffet set up. Nothing fancy and actually really random stuff like chips/salsa, chicken nuggets and veggies. See random?! There are a few great waitresses but some are just the opposite. Be prepared for really good or really bad no in between. They have tons of TV's, pool tables, outside seating area and darts. OK food, I would drink and skip the menu except for crawfish!!!
Review Source:I've been back twice since my last review and it looks like they've fixed the problem. Â The fries were good and the service was reasonably fast. The drinks were pretty good. My friend and I did a few jello shots, they were basically the strongest jello shots I've ever had. Â Glad that the one pub near my house is back to the way it used to be.
Review Source:One word INCONSISTENT! This place is by far the most inconsistent place. From the food to the service this place just can't have any consistency. That's not even the end of it. This place has the biggest identity issue. During football season they turn into a sports bar. Friday nights they ATTEMPT to be a club with the overly loud music. And during the week they're supposedly a restaurant. I had it at 3 stars because of the inconsistency issue but the identity crisis took another star off. I couldn't agree more about the Goran Ramsey idea. Management doesn't know what he or she is doing.
Review Source:First time was last night, as a confirmed host restaurant for UFC 145. I walked in at 8, and NONE of the screens had the prelims from FX on. I told the friendly waitstaff with the TapOut shirts on at the front door and they immediately told the manager who happened to stroll up. He argues with me that nothing's on right now. I told him I just watched the first fight at my house, it's on FX right now. I would've walked out right then, but the waitstaff started talkin up the fight with me. Good save.
I watched the ONE screen they turned on mute with subtitles while listening to horrible Internet radio *cut to Celine Dion and N'Sync*. When the PPV event started, Â I asked the waitress if they planned to turn off the music and put the sound on. She says, "Not till the Main Event". I said "Tell your manager that's not how it's done. Don't sign up to host again." All of a sudden the sound is up.
The place got packed, and orders were being made between us like we were invisible. Overheard that they ran out of draft glasses at one point. No waiter station at the end of the bar.
To wrap up, the quesadillas were awesome. Waitstaff awesome. If management improves, they might stick around for awhile. Not motivated to return anytime soon. Call Gordon Ramsey.
I really do want to give 5 stars, since it's conveniently close to home, has soccer & golf my 2 favorite televised sports, and pool tables reminiscence of Slick Willies. The chips & salsa was also the shiznit.
BUT: there are some interesting characters that come in here, and by interesting I mean creepy. As a dude I don't get that vibe very often. You should know what I mean - But I think the DJ calling out specials helps take the edge off a little bit.
There's plenty of seating & bar space. It's just rather slow. One time I just straight up walked out since nobody bothered to come around. The kitchen closes early, so I had to make a Whataburger run and come back. Sometimes there's painting with a twist, but I think people just downright got up and quit in the middle of their painting. Que lastima!
They have karaoke night as well. I think it's cool if you're part of the crew that has already imbibed enough to stand it.
Decently priced drinks are a bit harder to find around here, and at least with what I order it seems things are fairly priced. Â I like that they have an indoor and outdoor option. Â The few times I have been it was quite too, which is a nice change. Â I a low key environment where I can relax. Â I have been told by a few in my family that the food is good too. When people want to go out for drinks in the area, this is always one of the places I suggest.
Review Source:I applaud you Bogie for being one of the few sports bars in Missouri City. And doing so in a shopping square that is pretty much dead except for the Weight Watchers and the restaurant space that keeps changing owners/names every 6 months. They pulled it off pretty well too. What makes people keep coming back: 1. more than enough TVs, 2. outdoor porch, and 3. see my first sentence in this review.
Now onto what I was most concerned about: the food. Maybe I didn't walk in there with very high expectations, but the food definitely exceeded whatever those expectations were. The menu is your typical bar food - quesadillas, burgers, fries, etc. - but the food tasted very home-made and unprocessed/overly heavy like your typical bar food is. Sweet potato fries were crispy with a hint of smokiness, quesadillas were oozing with cheese but very fresh, and philly cheesesteak was one of my favorites that I've tried.
Congrats Bogie. I think you're here to stay. Probably won't out-live weight watchers but anything over 6 months in Pecan Plaza (I think that's what it's called?) is a success.
The good:
It's close to home (like, walkable when it's not 110F!!), it's cheap (we both ate for $20, plus a shared appetizer and sodas), it's fast, the service was brought with a smile and was great for the most part, there's pool tables (about 6 of them so plenty of room), the menu's simple but still has choice. Â
The bad:
It was a bit chilly, the AC was roaring, the onion rings left a pool of grease in the basket and didn't come with dip (& hubby's Philly Cheesesteak was pretty greasy too), the diet coke tasted either, bad, or like Rola Cola and not proper diet coke, no desserts - I think this place should serve a couple of pies with ice cream or something...it'd have made our night if we coulda had a piece of pie after dinner! LOL!
Overall, the good outweighed the bad and we'll definitely be back!!
I've been waiting for a bar like this in the 'hood.
TVs in every direction mean you can always see the game. The grub is excellent. Yes, it's basic bar food, but it's done well. My onion rings were good enough to not have come from a frozen bag. (for all I know they could have been, but they didn't taste industrial)
Servers are friendly. It's close to home. It can handle large groups. It's not a corporate chain. It's easy to park & easy to get home.
I love this bar. I'll be back for football again on Sunday if not sooner.
Bogie's is a new neighborhood pub that opened up on the Sugar Land/Missouri City border. It's a place I would have LOVED to have been open back in my college days.
The commute and parking situation is ideal for ex-Dulles Vikings that are visiting home for a weekend and beats the pants off the hectic hustle and bustle of the overly congested Town Center. Heck, if you live right at the entrance of Magnolia Plantation, it's a two minute walk across the street.
There's plenty of seating at Bogies, including an outdoor patio (smoking allowed) and an array of pool tables. It is what it is, a neighborhood bar. The drinks and the service are decent, and they do the requisite "daily specials" calendar menu.
In no way is this a gastropub, as Yelp has labeled it. However, when Bogie's debuted, they did feature a "ghost burger" on the menu. It's since left, and everything remaining is basic bar food. The nachos were good, and you can't really screw up chips and salsa.
There's plenty of televisions as well as a giant projection screen. I bet this place is really good for game-viewing, although because the tables are spread apart with plenty of space, there's limited seating that has a great view of the projection screen.
