I came here for Steak Night on a Wednesday night. Â I didn't realize that it didn't start until 8pm, so I got to enjoy happy hour, which ended at 7. Â On the happy hour menu, I tried out the calamari and the lamb samosas. Â I was disappointed with the lamb samosas bc the meat was very dry, but the calamari was good.
On to steak night. Â The special was $15 for a strip and two sides of your choice. Â The choices the night I went were: fries, country potatoes, wok veggies, and steamed rice. Â I ended up getting the fries and wok veggies. Â Everything was so good! Â I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out perfect! Â The wok veggies had been cooked in some kind of soy sauce, so they were a little salty but good, and the fries were, well, fries. Â I was pleasantly surprised with the steak night, so I'd recommend that; I'm still undecided if I'd recommend the happy hour, though.
I came here with a group of girls for happy hour and dinner. We started by sharing appetizers, which were delicious. It is a fusion restaurant, so expect tasty surprises. The calamari is decent, but the samaos are great! They are flavorful and a good size per person. Definitely try the tamarind spare ribs. They were perfectly flavored. I had the crispy red snapper and the presentation was excellent. It was tasty too with a bit of heat and nice spices. You can take a peak at the image of the dish in the photos section. Service was excellent and I would definitely return!
Review Source:I had really low expectations for this place because something about the restaurant-turned-club thing just doesn't sit well with me. I'm thrilled to say that I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised.
Our meal kicked off with the calamari and the spectacular dipping sauce. Next was the tom yum soup, which really grew on me as I was eating it. The broth was a mixture of spicy-sour, the shrimps were whole and huge, and I liked the soft cherry tomatoes.
Drinks are strong here. I had their specialty, Orient a L'Orange, which was a kicker. Not bad.
I wasn't a fan of my Malaysian noodle entree. That was my fault though, because I was eyeing other choices when our server came around, but panicked under the pressure of five business clients staring at me. So I went with those noodles and regretted it later.
But fear not! The group that I was dining with is notorious for sharing food all over the place, so I got to sample the wok-seared filet mignon, red snapper, and spicy char-grilled beef salad. All of them were amazing in their own respective ways. My favorite was the filet mignon by far - instead of the old "American" seasoning, this dish was saturated in Asian spices and tasted like a fancy version of my grandmomma's rock n' roll beef dish. I swore to myself that I would order that on my next trip.
Speaking of which, I do intend to return to Blu the next time I'm in the mood for a sophisticated, unique dining experience. I love the atmosphere and the detailed service. The amazing open-door view doesn't hurt either.
