Bon A Pita is one of those small family-owned restaurants that you might have never heard of, but they serve a really diverse variety of food ranging from traditional American sandwiches to a mixture of Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes, inspired by the owners' background. My favorite thing on the menu is the Chicken Kabob Pita Sandwich, but they also serve burgers, salads, cold & hot sandwiches, and kabob plates. They also serve breakfast all day! The atmosphere of the restaurant is more quiet and laid-back, but since it's a family-owned restaurant, the service is really friendly and welcoming. If you're in the area and craving some authentic lebanese food, definitely give this restaurant a try!
Review Source:I was super excited to have spotted a local restaurant that served some Middle Eastern grub. I took my lunch break and drove 3 minutes to give Bon A Pita a try.
The environment makes you feel like you've walked into your elderly neighbors kitchen. It's outdated and has that granny-chic feel to it. Nonetheless, I scoured the menu in search of the perfect lunchtime fare to chow down on. I noticed the menu was filled with random items that you can find @ your local diner and Denny's. You'll then encounter a few Middle Eastern treats. It looks like I came for the falafel sandwich!
The sandwich was about $5 and fairly small. I wish it had more ANYTHING: lettuce, tomatoes, &/or falafel even! From that first experience I thought I'd give it another shot. I wandered back over during another lunch break and this time I got the babaganoush dip with pita. It was a little too sour for me. I couldn't tell if it was lemon, lime, or even vinegar. Yes, it was that odd and it really didn't hit the spot. Unfortunately, I have yet to go back ever since my last two tries.
Sure, it's been a wee bit since my first visits. I'm hoping that when I find myself back down that way that I'd muster up the courage to stroll back into Bon A Pita to grab another item to try. I noticed that the regulars and other locals come here for their breakfast...maybe their onto something that I don't know about. Hmm!
Bon A Pita is great!
There is always a warm greeting and fast service. When I am in Laguna this place is always part of my routine. Sam, the owner runs a very nice place. The food is great whether you are in the mood for "Americana" type food or my personal favorite any of the middle Eastern type foods that are prepared here.
Sunday Brunch with Kirstie is worth it just for her wonderful personality. I would recommend this lovely little jewel of a cafe to even the most picky eater in my circle of friends. The bad reviews are a mystery to me and are not regular customers (There are many regular customers and Sam knows many people by name and Greets them at the door)
i luv middle eastern food, i ate here and it was horrible! never ever will i go here again, the shwarma was not good at all the rice was horrible! i had to pay over 20 bucks for a shwarma plate and some yogurt sauce!!?
stay clear of this place if you are looking for real Mediterranean food.
This place sux. It's a half-assed attempt at a greek food restaurant that falls VERY short. The meal started with a salad that was obviously just a Costco prepackaged salad with some cheap ranch on it. Then I ordered chicken swarma which was nothing but chicken thighs sauteed in olive oil with some seasoning salt. It was way too expensive too. What a disappointment. The only reason for the 2nd star was the good service.
Review Source:One of our coworkers picked up lunch for the gang here, so this is a take-out review. Â I can't speak to the atmosphere.
Green Salad - great dressing with nice fried pita croutons, best part of the meal
Dolma - great dolmas, but I am a dolma whore. Â I would give five stars to a cat turd if you wrapped it in grape leaves.
Falafel - decent, a little dry for my tastes
Hummus - decent, but a little bland
Baba ganoush - quite good. Â A little more sour than I'm used to, but very good flavor and texture.
Overall, a very delightful lunch with all my middle eastern faves. Â I would recommend this as an alternative to the more cookie-cutter Daphne's. Â And it is family-owned and run, so that's a plus.
I showed up here expecting to find some good Middle Eastern food, but once I walked in the door I could see that's not what this place was all about. My mistake. This is actually a popular little brunch spot for the senior citizen residents of nearby Leisure World.
Although I tried a beef shawerma pita sandwich, it tasted more like carne asada with cinnamon. I won't be trying that again, however, I wouldn't be opposed to returning some day for a little breakfast. The elderly folks sitting near me seemed to truly enjoy their eggs and english muffins.
