Everyone has their gameday eating rituals at Notre Dame. Â Many of the undergrads drink their meals, tailgaters flip burgers, and countless others line up for the Knights of Columbus steak sandwiches. Â I go to Burger King and get a chicken sandwich. Â
I don't remember the origin of it. Â Like so many traditions at Notre Dame, it probably became one after it happened a few times in a row and was expected from then on. Â I have a number of friends who get upset if they found out I didn't make it to BK that day. Â (Un)fortunately, whether I make my BL pilgrimage or not hasn't had any correlation to the way ND has played over the years. Â
I always have to fight through the endless Subway line just to get to BK on gameday Saturdays. Â Why are all you people going to Subway anyway? Â Subway is everywhere. Â Burger King is only almost everywhere. Â
It may look like all the tables are always packed, because they are, but one of them will open up every other minute or so. Â Then you can sit down and watch some garbage Big Ten game that started at 9 a.m. Â We'd better not join some godforsaken conference that sees fit to start their football games before fucking Saturday morning cartoons are even finished.
