I attended Capri di Amici 's Sunday @ the Opera and was blown away-but it was actually the 7 friends  with me who insisted I enter one of my 5 star reviews! The food was spectacular & for the event  we had a choice of: portobello braised pork chops, tilapia, chicken breast & asparagus rissotto, eggplant parmasean & sauteed spinach, & also a vegetarian entree. Included was choice of salad, pasta, an amazing apetizer/ variety of cookies, mini-pastries for dessert/ coffee/ tea. The complimentary drink was a quality house wine & again we were given several choices.
Price point: tremendous value/ one low price for dinner & show
Waiters are authentic, old-world italian & service was top-notch. The food was so fresh & delicious......
The entertainment : absolute world class.
The ristorante itself is quaint ,intimate, & must be the hidden GEM of Woodridge. Well worth the trip from the city & we will all be back! I understand Sunday @ the Opera will be an on-going event offered 4th Sunday each month except for December 2011-but please call to verify & for reservations (all seats were taken). I "like" & follow on facebook because of all the special events they offer!
Bravo Capri Bravo!
Ciao
Rapini and steaming hot bowls of adante Pasta cooked to perfection. A vodka sauce to die foe. This is not served from some corporate refridgerator stored in plastic bags. A wait ataff that is professional, courteous and always willing to please. Drinks that will satisfy every thirst. An owner that is dedicated to serving the most authentic Italian food, outside of being in  Capri Italy . And for your ride home, I suggest a little pistachio gelato to go.
Review Source:This restaurant makes me feel like I am actually in Italy. Our waiter is very friendly and attentive. The place is small but very nice. The busser or assistant was also really helpful and attentive. The prices are very good considering the quality and portions. Drinks are also a decent rate for the area. Our server dusan was great and the experience was all around awesome.
Review Source:Capri is one of those places that could be good if you could get past the average food and become a regular of the place. I've been there a few times and had the same experience:
Food was average. The sauces were either too bland or too powerful. I had an Arrabiata sauce that had no kick and the prosciutto in it tasted as it had gone bad. My Girlfriends sauce was so spicy she couldn't finish the meal, and she likes a good kick as long as it is accompanied by other flavors than red pepper. The only saving grace of the place is the Banana's Foster, which is excellent in presentation and taste.
Service/Atmosphere was below average. I group both of these together because in a place this small, with only one or two servers, how they act adds to the experience. All the times I have been there we would be ignored for 15 minutes, passed by even, so the servers and manager could talk to some of the regular patrons, hence my original statement. On one occasion two tables right next to us got excellent service (and I swear their food looked better) while the server passed us by taking 20 minutes to take our order. The manager hovered around the restaurant talking to the regulars (or on his phone) and never bothered to look at the table next to him where two people were openly annoyed with the bad service. After that I almost didn't come back, but I give every place a second chance. This place will not get a third from me though.
Where do I start..... how about the hostess wearing a sweat suit with fake rinestones to greet the guests. Tacky! The decor is decent, except for the pictures on the wall which seem to have no particular rhyme or reason. It seems like they gave some money to a blind relative and said go to the store and get some art, and then the store associate that he asked for help thought it would be funny to give him anything that was not classy and did not belong in the same room together.
As far as the food goes, things only got worse from here. I can go to jewel and get better bread in the bakery. The salad with the "house" dressing had no flavor to speak of. It was defiantly Italian dressing, but it came from the bottom shelf of Wal-Mart. My girlfriend ordered fettucine Alfredo with shrimp, and the scent of bad fish was quite strong, coming from the plate. I ordered the lemon chicken, which while being moist, was also as bland as the salad. The chicken came with a side of pasta in marinara sauce. To say that the sauce tasted like it was from a can of Hunts spaghetti sauce, would not be fair to Hunts, as even that has more taste to it. Overall the food here is absolutely lousy.
The service, is the only reason this restaurant deserves even one star. The waiter that we had was very nice, and always made sure to check up on us. Of course it was not hard for him to fi since there were only 4 tables seated during the prime dining hours. From the outside this place always seems busy, but we quickly found out, it is only the employees cars.
To sum this all up, I am not a fan of Olive Garden, but I would glad go there before I would ever choose this place again.
Well, looks like even after the owner told me I didn't know what I was talking about, this place went out of business.
This restaurant seems like an ideal candidate for Gordon Ramsay to roll in on his horse and help save the day on 'Kitchen Nightmares'. Â It is lackluster at best. Â Bloody Mary = okay. Â Bread = cold and too crusty. Â Salad = overdressed and flavorless. 'Little Paulie' pasta dish (alfredo based with shrimp, scallops, and broccoli) = smelled really fishy and tasted 'blah'. Â The service was good. Â The atmosphere is almost tacky with a gigantic painting of 'ol Blue Eyes on the wall. Â This place is just not good.
Review Source:ORDER THE BANANAS FOSTER - this is crucial to your happiness.
The food was delicious, and our server was very polite and attentive. The ambience was cozy- it's small, but comfortable. There is a nice selection of dishes... lots of meat, seafood, and pastas. For those picky eaters, you can simply order from a selection of homemade pastas and pick which of the many sauces you'd like. All of the entrees come with soup or salad, and of course bread with butter, olive oil, and parmesan comes out immediately.
More importantly, the bananas foster was incredible. Our server wheeled out a cart, threw some butter and cinnamon in a hot pan, and flambeed the bananas in 2 different liqueurs. Thrown on a scoop of ice cream and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, it was rich and smooth- plus I won't complain about the hot dessert/cold ice cream combo... my favorite!
Definitely worth a try... save room for the dessert!
