Capriotti's finally made it to eastern Delaware County.  This chain, which began in the Wilmington area in the 70s is a Delaware Valley favorite which has taken some time to infiltrate DelCo.  Now there are several here.

We shared a Bobbie - Thanksgiving on a roll - homemade roast turkey, classic stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mayo, and a Capastrami- a hot pastrami with Swiss cheese, cole slaw, and Russian dressing on a roll.   Both were made to order.  The 12 inch sandwiches and a soda were $21.   There was enough to take a bit home for a late night snack.

The place was empty but filled up at 6 with people waiting for take out orders.   It's not the most inviting eat in place (in fact most of the Capriotti's have very little eat in , if any eat in seating).

It's clean enough but nothing that you would linger for.  Great specialty sandwiches served with chips (extra cost),  no fries.

I only ever order one sandwich at this place, "The Bobbie."  Best gourmet sandwich I've ever had.  Great place to pick up and carry out or stop in and sit down for a bite with family and friends.

Awesome place always friendly if u look familiar they remember your name. I get the Bobbie and no one else really makes it quite as fresh as them in addition to fresh cranberry sauce that they make. Or at least it tastes like that

I guess my expectations were too high...
The sign has a vintage look... The inside is modern and bright... The hoagie.... Uhhh... how about those Phillies...?
Let me put it mildly... I'm gonna place the two star blame on myself... They are what they are... A pre-sliced, made to order, sandwich shop... Nothing special, nothing bad.. I left thinking, " I should have packed my lunch today..."
I never complain about prices... But nothing there justifies the price that they charge.
    Nice ladies staffing the shop.

Cappriotti's lived up to the hype after moving into the Springfield Shopping Center a little while back. If you've never had a Bobbie, you must. It puts all other Thanksgiving-based sandwiches to shame. Their cheesesteaks and meatball sandwiches are also solid.

I waited to review this location until they had been opened for a while.  I've been to the other shops, and experienced the awesome 5-star sandwiches.  This place took a little while to get it together, but I would say the sandwiches are now 5-star worthy.  I never tried their cheesesteaks before and was pleasantly surprised.

    My favorites:
    Bobbie
    Slaw be Jo
    Cheesesteak

I have never been disappointed by a Capriotti's hoagie. To date I've had the Capastrami, Bobbie, turkey, roast beef hoagies and their cheesesteak.

I am convinced the Bobbie has been given to us by a higher power. It is the perfect mix of Thanksgiving Day goodies plus mayo. Take a look at their website for the full line of designer subs.

The small is big enough for two people to split and be satisfied. But this is America, and satisfied isn't good enough. Get your own small, or you'll be sorry :)

I have been meaning to write for some time that the owner of the restaurant contacted me via my online order submission almost immediately.  He explained a staff member had not shown up for the evening and was extremely apologetic.  His note and offer inviting us to return were sincere.  We have been back and the experience and food lived up to Capriotti's reputation.

If you haven't heard yet, they opened a new location in Springfield. (YAY!) I have been a long-time fan of Capriotti's, but swinging by the Union Street location in Wilmington after work never occurs to me until I'm halfway up 95 trying to come up with a plan for dinner, so how psyched am I to have one nearby!
The Bobbie is the best rendition of Thanksgiving on a roll I've ever encountered and it is clearly their best-seller. However, it's a mega-carb bomb (and there is nothing wrong with that), but if you aren't in the mood for that my favorite sammie is the Slaw BeJo. A giant, amazing roast beef special complete with russian dressing, cole slaw and provolone cheese and it is delicious! Everything here is messy and wonderful.
Another fantastic thing about Capriotti's? They make party platters.  If you walk into a holiday work luncheon or business meeting with a tray from Capriotti's, you will be a rockstar for sure.
They also have cheesesteaks and salads, but I can never seem to stray from my two faves, so I'll have to leave that review to someone else.  Welcome to the neighborhood Capriotti's!

A pastrami sandwich in the city is fairly easy to come by.  Out in the burbs it's difficult.  A pastrami hoagie is really something special.  These guys do one called the Capstrami and it is beyond excellent.  A great portion of excellent meat.  A superior roll.   The mustard and condiments are just right.

These guys are in the Springfield Shopping Center on Route 1.  This is the plaza that has the Giant Supermarket on one end and Moe's Grill on the other.

Man, you should have seen my wife's face when I told her they opened a Capriotti's in  Springfield. The only other thing that would get her this excited is if they opened an Indian restaurant in Glenolden.

If you've never had a Bobbie, well then Google what it is. Because at this moment of writing this review, I am too busy devouring one to type much more than this.

And I think I just spilled cranberry sauce on my shirt so I gotta go.
