I've had worse, but I don't remember when...
Menu looks tantalizing but the dishes are very plain. 4 star atmosphere and service but just bad food, everything I tried. Bummer, too, cause there were 2 other Tapas restaurants within a few blocks and this one was expensive! I always finish my plates but I was happy to not take any of my 3 leftover portions to go... ick.
I will start off this review by using a phrase that I have heard throughout the Yelp universe: "I wanted to like this place better than I did."
I came here today for their $10 lunch buffet (around $13 if you include tax and a 12% tip), and the food here was okay. However, it was not memorable.
- Potatoes: I loved them because they were crunchy (A+)
- Bread: It was soft but tasted store bought (A)
But as you went down the line, you saw these miniature crock pots that contained vegetables or meat with some type of sauce or broth that served as the highlight of the buffet line. I only got food from four crock pots out of ten because I was not exactly sure what was in the pots, Â but the highlight of the line had to be the beef meatballs. Big and meaty!
At the end of the line were salad fixings and cold-cuts of meat. I am not a fan of cold meat, so I naturally wasn't a fan of what was at the end.
I know I shouldn't expect much from a $10 buffet, but I expected so much more and got so much less. I would recommend going for the potatoes though, but if you are a meat lover, you will not find much here.
Also, it took the waiter about 10 minutes after dining to ask what I wanted to drink. I am not sure if they were intimidated, but I think drink orders should be taken no less than three minutes after you sit down.
It was okay, overall. I am not sure if I would come here again.
So, I decided to take my family and out of town guest to this place for my birthday celebration. We were so excited to see Flamenco Dancing and have Spanish food. Since my family is from Spain, we were looking forward to the experience. We had a reservation for a large party and have a set menu, therefore there was no guess work in what would be served. We were told to be there at 7:00PM and that we had to have dinner completed by 10:00PM because that have a second show at 10PM. So, we got there at 7:00PM and there were no tapas on the table. It took over 30 minutes to get sangria on the table and 45 minutes to get our tapas. The show started at 8:30 and the main course had yet to be delivered to our table. The show was great and it kept our minds off of the lack of food on the table. When our food finally showed up at 9:45PM (keep in mind we are supposed to be done at 10PM). Â Not only did it come out 15minutes before we were supposed to leave, but it was luke warm. Totally disappointed, my birthday dinner was pretty much a disaster, and they wanted us to pay for our meal. We ended up paying for the tapas, wine, and sangria we ordered. Not going back, EVER!
Review Source:I had bought a coupon to come here since i love spanish cuisine. Â My husband and I came on a friday night about 7ish. Â Restaurant was empty at the time and the decor was nice and service is okay. Â He ordered the chicken and shrimp in a pine nut sauce or so with rice and potatoes( that was delicious) and i ordered garlic shrimp, sausages with cheese and a lentil soup and nothing really stood out to me plain jane like anywhere else, we got like a 5 minute preview of what the show was going to be and the singer was not worth staying for the show so we left right before it started. Â I would not come back unless my friends would want to see the show.
Review Source:I popped-in the other day for their $9.99 lunch special (don't criticize, everyone loves a lunch buffet right?), and was very pleasantly surprised at the service and the quality of food. I enjoyed mariscos con coco (shellfish in coconut stew), Serrano ham, monchego cheese, Spanish olives... Really great selection, well prepared and fairly priced. I'm definitely looking forward to having dinner and enjoying a Flamenco show here soon.
Review Source:This is an excellent new Spanish restaurant. Â The prices are a little expensive ($20-28 for full dinner plates), but in this case, the expense was worth it for the quality of the food. Â The tapas plates were around $9, so there are cheaper options available.
We came on a Sunday night. Â I'm not sure how packed this place gets on Friday and Saturdays, when the restaurant puts on flamenco shows, but Sunday was pretty deserted. Â I think this is because people haven't discovered this restaurant yet (it's fairly new). Â Our waiter for the night, Alvaro, met us at the door with a friendly handshake and led us to our table. Â The decor in this place is themed yet classy, and the lighting is slightly dimmed for a more romantic feel.
We started with a bottle of the house red, an excellent Spanish wine, which ran about $14 (very reasonable). Â However, since we were at a Spanish restaurant, we couldn't pass up an additional pitcher of Sangria. Â It didn't disappoint. Â The Sangria was light and refreshing, with alcohol-soaked fruit and a hint of carbonation. Â I think the pitcher ran us somewhere in the range of $24, and it worked out to be between 7-8 glasses.
For dinner, my husband and I split the Sole with Clams and Shrimp and the Strip Steak with Mushroom Sauce. Â I was a little worried about getting sole - I'm a fan of salmon but white fish usually doesn't have much flavor - but I made the right choice. Â The sole was tender and cooked in a delicious buttery garlic sauce, and it was worth every penny. Â We let the chef choose the sides (another good idea) and received fresh veggies and Spanish potatoes. Â The steak was very flavorful, with a generous helping of mushrooms. Â I would definitely order both dishes again. Â My husband and I cleaned both plates. Â This food was better than any of the dishes that I've had at the typical fancy restaurants in Brickell.
We also had the Chocolate Bomb for dessert. Â I've had many chocolate bombs (it's one of my favorite treats), and most come with ice cream or maybe a fresh strawberry to complement the chocolate. Â This dish came with ice cream, a strawberry, AND fresh mint. Â Pretty much made my day.
Apparently there's a Happy Hour on Thursday from 5-8 with $1 draft beer, $2 sangria (yum), and $2 tapa of the day. Â I'll definitely be returning for this special, since I didn't get a chance to try any of the tapas tonight.
