Happy Wine

Somebody told me they'd opened a Happy Wine in the Grove and the only reaction I could have was to laugh out loud! Yes, I'm sure the Grove location is a fine establishment, but there's no way it could possibly match the vibe here.

You grab a bottle off the shelf, order some tapas, and hopefully find yourself a spot with some elbow room. If you can't find a chair, oh well. Of course the food is good, but that's not what you're here for. You're here to enjoy good wine (minus the markup), tapas and let your hair down while singing along to some Latin standards. No pretense,  fine china or valet parking here! This place is the definition of good times. How else can you explain so many rambunctious people happy to be squeezed into a space the size of a garage??!  

The "chusmeria" factor is what makes THIS place so special!! No one comes here for wine sipping and polite whisper. You come here to gyrate to a conga drum, talk way too loud and be yourself the way you would if you thought no one was looking, and judging. And you might as well because that's what everyone else is doing! If you're looking for someplace respectable and 'appropriate' just keep driving.

If you want to take your out-of-town friends to a place that captures the essence of this town leave the famous spot down the street to the politicians pandering for votes, and bring your friends here. Spandex, panty-lines, and white belts galore!

The people who work here, the owners, the selection, the prices, the wine tastings with live music and paella...Win. Win. Win.

This is one of my favorite places... You drink a great bottle of wine and the chef is always making the menu better. This review is owed. You have every winemaking country represented. The prices are way more competitive than liquor stores. The experience and ambiance are worth it in the end.
