I actually had very nice service here. Our waitress was friendly and prompt and checked in on us frequently. However the food was just so so. My wings were about average. The highlight of my night was when the waitress was kind enough to let me order pudding from the kids menu. Score!
Review Source:I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but can't bring myself to round it up to 4 and don't have a compelling reason why I can't. Â I really didn't have any issues here unlike many others that have already reviewed it. Â
We came to Patriot Place on a ridiculously hot day to escape the heat and checkout the Hall of Fame. Â When you got to the HOF, there is a 10% coupon on the back of the ticket for CBS Scene. Â We had never been and it wasn't busy. Â We weren't looking for a gourmet dining experience, just wanted some decent food and drinks in an air conditioned environment and CBS Scene fit the bill. Â
They have an extensive draft beer and cocktail menu. Â Props to them for having a smoky margarita topped with mezcal, one of my faves. Â Since it was hot and I didn't feel like having my ass kicked, I stuck with the white sangria, which was tasty. Â The mysterious bar phenomenon of the second mixed drink you order being stronger than the first is in full effect here as my second sangria had to have had double the alcohol. Â I would have thought they would have been pre-mixed but apparently not. Â
On to the food. Â We started with the lemon hummus which was topped with feta and hot pepper rings and served with cucumber rounds and pita chips. Â We enjoyed it. Â I ordered the California chicken sandwich and subbed mixed greens instead of fried for a $1 up charge. Â It was served on flatbread instead of a regular bun, which I appreciate. Â It was good and I enjoyed it, despite the avocado spread that was supposed to be on it was practically nonexistent. Â My husband had the seared tuna entree, which was served with spinach and jasmine rice. Â He received two large pieces or tuna and gave it a thumbs up. Â
Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Â I would go back if I were in the area.
My husband and i ate here yesterday while my son was at a football camp and we loved it!
We had the nachos and buffalo wings, both were excellent. Â The waitress who served us on the patio was excellent, friendly and just real nice, she didn't rush us and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Â We also were impressed with the beer menu, we tried and loved the Mayflower on tap, I wish they had that in the Merrimack Valley. Overall great time.
I don't think people are coming to the CBS Sports Scene for a high end meal, neither was I. This place is perfect for appetizers and drinks. I definitely love all the TVs all over the place, too. It's something different to check out, especially when it's Pat's offseason. Next time I'm at Patriot's Place I will be checking it out again.
Review Source:I don't know why people hate on this place as it's one of the better places to eat Patriot Place. Â Menu is very large and all well prepared. Â It can have their hits and misses but I have not been severely disappointed. Â Prices are higher but it's a commercial restaurant, I know people expect lower prices since it's in the 'burbs. Â
Our server was ok, nothing to special but he was still timely and was able to rattle off the specials without looking at his cheat sheet. Â
I like going here especially for a quiet night and don't want to be sitting at the bar as their are tvs at each table. Â That's a bonus. Â They also have a nice patio overlooking Gillette which is a bonus. Â
It can get pretty crazy here so definitely make reservations. Â You honestly can't stroll in especially on any sox, patriots, bruins or any type of championship game.
I really enjoyed this place.
The bf and I were in town to check out Gilette Stadium and The Hall, so being able to sit by a window overlooking the stadium was pretty awesome.
Wednesdays half off pizza! The Buffalo Chicken was pretty yummy, and while they only had ten or so beers on draft, they all looked delicious and we each found one we enjoyed.
It was a slow Wednesday afternoon, so service was spot on
WOW!! Bob Kraft do you go in your places and check them out or do you read these reviews because I'm telling you CBS scene needs a revamping of your wait staff.
From the moment we walked in I should have known this was going to be a bad time! There were 4 employees standing near the door when we walked in, at least two of them saw us coming and not one person came to open the door (I know that's pushing it with customer service but that's the kind of person I am and I expect great!!). We walked by 3 employees to the host stand and waited for her to say something but she didn't so we said "2" and the hostess grabbed 2 menus and just said "this way" nothing like hello welcome to such and such, you know the whole spiel you get walking into a restaurant.
So we sat at our table waitress came over and I don't know, maybe she was knew but still she said "hi can I get you any drinks" again no speel...service was slow. We got our drinks and we ordered buffalo bites. Delicious and a great portion for a small. More than enough for just two people. I asked for more blue cheese...it took FOREVER!! We were basically done with it when she came back and to boot she came back with ranch! GAG!! Then when she came back to place our orders I asked  her which she preferred steak tips or linguine and clams she said well what are you in the mood for...look chick that's not what I asked you I asked which would you prefer!! So then I saw that the tips came with mushrooms and onions and I asked what kind of mushrooms they were and she said oh I don't know...she could of said oh I'm not sure let me check...NOPE! So forget it I just ordered the clams. It came to the table with 3, count them 3 little neck clams!!!! Are you kidding me?! I would have expected at least more mixed in without its shells and then 3 with shells for decoration but no. So the food runner asked us if he could get us anything else so I said yes grated cheese! Nothing!  Waiting 5 mins until our waitress checked on us and I waited another 5 mins!! Meal was very flavorful! I would get it again for sure but I would ask for ALOT less pancetta and more clams!! My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese! Worth every penny!! It was really good!
As we were leaving, I shit you not the hostess didn't even say goodbye or thank you for coming!! NOTHING and I even stopped for mints! Screw that! This place is ONLY getting 2 stars because the food was actually good!! Bob...please re-staff that place!! TERRIBLE!!!
Went there with my two young daughters, they wanted to eat some pizzas and I have liked the pizzas here previously, while playing poker there. Â They host EPT games on most Mondays. Â I liked the draft beers here, not a huge selection but with Matilda and Mad Elf on draft, they are okay in my book (did not have high expectations). Â And they serve in proper glassware, that's is a definite positive. Â . Â Pizzas are not extraordinary but are good. Â Service is average. Â Girls ordered sprite, soda water was supplied, they ran out of the sprite "syrup", substituted coke.
Kids had fun and this was their best pizza "ever".
If you want to have your patience level tested, come here. CBS Scene wins first place for the worst waitress EVER.
With Bar Louie having a line out the door in the freezing cold, the five of us decided to go to the nearby CBS Scene for food and drinks. When seated, we ordered some beers. It took about 20 minutes for our waitress to bring them. The place wasn't even that packed, but we let it go by. Our waitress then noted that the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes, so we put in our food orders. After this, we didn't see her for another 30 minutes. In between that length of time, she never came to check on us or see if we wanted another round of drinks.
She finally brought out food, but only with TWO of our five orders (mind you, with no silverware which we had to hunt down ourselves from another waitress). We explained to our waitress that we ordered more food and she said "Hold on, let me go check on them." After another 15 minutes, the idiot came back, this time with a manager, and explained how she never put the orders in and that the kitchen was now closed. However, the manager said that he would be willing to let us order off the late night menu, which would be on the house. Although I was pissed that I was not going to get my lobster mac & cheese, not having to pay wasn't so bad. However, after ordering BBQ boneless buffalo wings--and waiting another 30 minutes for food--she brought out spicy buffalo wings with bones. She dumped the food, Â and sped off to go flirt with some guidos at the next table.
At this point, I had enough of the bitch. I got up, tapped her on the shoulder, pointed to our table, and said "We didn't order this." She rolled her eyes, acted as if I was the annoying one, and took the food back. After another 15 minutes, she came back with the correct orders (oh and with no silverware again).
The cherry on top was when she didn't take off on the bill the food that the manager said would be on him. We asked for another check and didn't leave her a cent. But what bothered us most was the complete lack of professionalism on her part - each time she screwed up, she smiled and laughed as if it was all a joke.
This waitress uses her waiting job as another way to find potential one-night clients. In the end, waiting in the freezing cold for Bar Louie would have been a better night.
Oh and another fun fact: there was poop on the bathroom floors.
People definitely go here for the experience, not because it's a great restaurant/bar. We went on an off day for the Patriots, which was our intention because the place is basically unapproachable on game day. The place is awesome for watching any game possible plus it highlights all shows that play on CBS. Food was decent. We had apps only but they were good. Beers were cold and mildly expensive. Our biggest issue was the terrible service at the front desk. The two "hostesses" were inattentive, unresponsive (texting), and unfriendly. We started at a table near the bar for a drink before dinner and put our name in for a dining room table. It turned into a debacle trying to communicate with the hostess stand and left a very bad taste in our mouths. However, it will not deter me from giving it another chance. I will update when I return.
Review Source:We stopped in for a beer on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar and were promptly greeted by the bartender, served our beers and... never saw him again. Another bartender, from the other side of the bar, came over after we were finished our beers and my bf requested our check. If someone had checked with us sooner, they probably could have gotten another $17 out of us for 2 more beers.
I'll go on... I thought the prices for beers were steep. That's downtown Boston prices for beezos. Call me a cheapie, but if I'm spending $8.50 for a pint, even of craft beer, I want to be somewhere else than CBS scene.
I do have to commend them on their beer selection... the draught list was impressive for craft beer fans like us. I had Southern Tier's Pumpking and the bf had Deviant Dale's. They also had Jack's Abbey, Goose Island and some others I cannot think of at the moment -- but well beyond Sam Adams and Shipyard (though they had those too!)
We were in the area for something else and unfortunately, I wouldn't go back there.
A fun location for a sports bar. Eaten there twice in the last month. Because how fun the atmosphere is. The TVs are everywhere, even at our table. BUT not all the TVs work at the tables, we had to move tables because ours was not working. The pics on the wall of ALL the CBS shows past & present are pretty cool. Â Food was OK a menu with such variety usually hints to me that nothing is great. The view over Gillette Stadium is really all the rave!
Review Source:Four stars for the view sitting on their patio on an awesome fall afternoon, enjoying a burger and some drinks.
The food is not generally four stars, but it's fine. They have everything. The menu is like The Cheesecake Factory in that way. It was well prepared, not amazing, but not crappy, and affordable at lunch time. I'd definitely go back again and enjoy some cocktails on the patio overlooking Gillette stadium.
Yes, I read the reviews before committing to go to CBS Scene on a double date night - but I said to myself, "Common! Â Its sports bar food, not five-star gourmet dining! How bad could it really be?" Â Well, I'll answer that question for you folks - its pretty bad.
The main selling feature for going there on a Saturday night was for the guys to watch college football while we all chatted, eat some wings or nachos, and have a couple of drinks. Â Let me just say that having a TV at the table at CBS Scene was the highlight of the entire evening - and I could have gotten the same treatment eating takeout in my living room. Â
Now, about the food: My husband and I split the Buffalo Chicken Slider appetizer, which came with three sliders and fries. Â I've never seen an appetizer come with an entire serving of fries before, but to make matters worse, they were really bad. Â They were greasy, thin, and hard as rocks - not crispy - more like McDonald's fries that spent way more time in the fryolator than need. Â The sliders weren't much better. Â The best thing I can compare them to is a microwaved frozen chicken nugget, dunked in Franks Red Hot sauce, and put in a bun. Â My husband and I each ate one and begrudgingly split the third one.
For entrees, I got the Grilled Half-Pound Burger with sweet potato fries. Â The fries were soggy and dense, and the burger was dry and flavorless. Â My husband got the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich with was essentially the same quality as the sliders with another helping of cruddy fries.
With dinner completed and the football games still playing, we stayed at the table for a while to have some beers and watch TV. Â The waitress kept pushing us to order dessert (and in my opinion, if a restaurant can't make a burger, should they really be making cannolis?), but we said we'd think about it and kept ordering drinks. Â At 9:00pm - 9!!! - they told us the kitchen was closing and that we HAD to order dessert now if we wanted it. Â We just asked for the bill instead.
While we waited for the check to arrive, my friend and my husband used the bathrooms and each came back with terrifying stories. Â My husband said that the men's room was worse than any college dive bar he's ever seen, complete with excrement on the floor. Â My girl friend said the first two stalls were out of toilet paper and the facilities were disgusting.
We paid our bill - which was WAY more than it should have been - and practically ran up the two flights of stairs to get out of there. Â If you've ever been to ESPN Zone in NYC, CBS Scene is like its redneck cousin. Â Save your time, energy and money and simply go to a sports bar with good food and a big TV. Â I guarantee you'll be much happier!
The service and our meals only deserved one star but the crab cake appetizer and more importantly the beer menu bumped it to two stars.
So we order the appetizers and kid's meals so we could set them up and they will be already eating when our food comes. Â Of course our appetizer, kid's meals, and lunch all arrive at the same time.
The California Chicken Sandwich had the most dried out tasteless chicken I have ever tried. Â I ended up stealing a piece of chicken from the kids plate it was so bad. Â The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was not much better containing very little flavor and not much substance. Â To make matters worse all the meals came with shoe string fries! I had high hopes for steak fries or other normal sized fries but not shoe string!
So after the lousy meal and the slow service we left very disappointed, vowing to never return.
Slow service, wrong food. Â Interesting place with TV at each table with a gazillion channels to surf. Â Waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu and stated that management didn't do anything to help them get familiar with it. Â Let your people freaking sample the menu on a regular basis morons.
Beer geek liked the beer menu but my first beer showed up about the same time as the dish I didn't order. Â The second beer showed up when I was ready to leave. Â I probably would have tried four different beers if they could find them and get them to tables. Â
This place was not slammed when we were there. Â Won't be back.
Stopped by with the boys for some lunch. Good restaurant for kids and my gadget guy loved playing with the TV. I checked out the reviews before and frankly wasn't expecting much.
Our waiter was nice but probably new and wouldn't cut it at a more upscale place. We came early so he was able to be quite attentive. I went with the spicy meat pizza. It was OK. Again not expecting nice and should know better to order pizza at a non-pizza restaurant.
A bit pricey for the quality and not a place to impress your date.
I wrongly assumed that since we were at a sports bar I would only be able to order your average bar type food (burgers, wings, etc).
BOY WAS I WRONG!! Â
After munching on some Fried Local Calamari  (From Local Waters and Served Rhode Island Style - Garlic Butter, Pickled Hot Peppers, Marinara 9.75), I ordered the Pan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops served with Sweet Corn Risotto in a Lemon-Shallot Vinaigrette ($21.75).  The scallops were FRESH and not frozen! SCORE!  I was really impressed by the quality of my dish and at how extensive the menu was. Â
Need a cocktail to wash down all that deliciousness? Definitely try the Lemon Drop (Absolut Citron, Cointreau, and Lemonade with a Sugared Rim)! SOO yummy. Â My girlfriend didn't luck out with her Pomegranate Margarita - it was all sour mix and not enough pomegranate or tequila.
Prices are on the higher side, but hey - Bob Kraft needs to pay for those 145 TVs right? According to our server, the monthly electric bill is $20,000. Â YIKES! Â In case you didn't know, must tables have a personal TV and you can tune in - or out - of your favorite sports broadcast. Â I chose to watch Big Bang Theory.
STOLEN TIPS:::
We cashed out and then joined our friends at another table for some more drinks. Â Before leaving, our original waitress asked us if we were satisfied with her service. Â Why did she ask? Because of the $30 tip we left for her in the bill fold, she only received $10. Apparently a staff person has been stealing tips before the waitress can pick up the check. Â How awful!! Â Be sure to always hand the tip DIRECTLY to the server when you leave so this doesn't happen!
OH MY!
Barry is writing a review that is not 4 or 5 stars. Has the earth stopped revolving?!
(I understand, most of my reviews are positive. Because I like good places, and I want others to know of these good places!)
But as I head down to Legacy place soon this afternoon, I am reminded of CBS scene... but not in a good way
It wasnt ALL bad
the good?
- They made a good martini. Grey goose, three olives, dirty is what I (almost) always get. Well, they made it good. Although this is more the indicaton of using the correct ingredients and having a decent bartender than the restaurant as a whole... well, I guess they DID hire the bartender!
- The GIANT TV and view of the stdium. This was the SAVING grace of the evening. We were sitting outside. To my left was a HUGE TV with the Red Sox game on, and to my right was the NE Revlution soccer game. Now, we could not see the whole field, but could see the big screen for replays, and hear the crowd, so got to see replays of goals, fouls, and everything. pretty cool!
But then all downhill from there.
how?
well, the bad
- It all starts, and in this case ends, with the service. Â Not a great waitress at all. We had to go looking for her. Not once, but twice. She messed up our order. She didnt come back to check on us. And then she LEFT! Â who knows, maybe she was ill, or broke a leg, and someone had to take over - but a new one just showed up!
Am I being picky? And needy? maybe... but I go out so I dont have to do work. Having to get UP and WALK (wow, I AM lazy) to the host to ask for our waitress to get myself further intoxicated is uncalled for!
Really. get us drunk,w e would have tipped better!
poor poor service
- the food
Sliders? Was there any actual meat on them, or just all bun. French fries? I wish I had walked to 5 guys instead
Coconut shrimp? well, if you SAy its shrimp..
it all seemed like pre frozen cisco food product budget food - not hand made, restaurant assembled high quality food as the prices would indicate. very disappointing!
I half pictures a giant microwave in the back where they just thawed everything out and heated it up
(when I went to the restroom, I did indeed see a full kitchen - and a nice one! which had me wondering why they dont cook their food better)
Oh well, lesson learned. If I want to go, watch the Sox, Drink (although unevenly and not enough), and have a nice view of a blancony, I will go back - otherwise, I think there are 1,342 other places to eat and drink at Legacy place that I woudl try first!
My girlfriend and I came here on a tuesday night. Â It was fairly empty and we got a table after one of the staff noticed we were awkwardly waiting around to be seated.
Our waitress was very nice though. Â And her service was great. Â The food however is awful. Â The selections were kind of bizarre. Â A NY sirloin with bleu cheese? Â We decided to try the lobster pizza. We both ordered salads to start. Â And just as we're digging in, here comes the pizza. Â Really? Â After quickly consuming the salad, I dug into the pizza. Â It tasted pretty decent but, by the third slice, I had had enough. Â At this point the pizza was cold which meant the sour cream was just unbearable to consume.
Still hungry, we decided on a chocolate cake for dessert. Â Well, unbelievably, it was pretty bad. Â It was supposed to come with whipped cream. Â There was something on the plate that kind of looked like whipped cream but I can't even describe the lumpy mess that was there in its place. Â And the cake was cold and the frosting hard. Â How hard is it to serve a moist warm piece of cake?
This was a pretty bad food experience. Â The only redeeming thing about this place is the nice view of gillette stadium. Â The only way I would come back is if I could sit outside and enjoy a beer.
I guess we were one of the lucky ones to really enjoy our lunch here.
We got a table quickly and our service was on point.
We didn't order anything fancy - we all had burgers. They were cooked the way we asked and the sweet potatoes fries were crispy.
My hubby and Dad had a blast with the TV's. We watched the "Big Bang Theory" while we waiting for our food. This isn't a place you would take someone on a date because the music and tv's are totally distracting. They're everywhere and at every table. But, since I was with my parents.. THANK GOD FOR THE TV's. No awkward silences here. :)
Came here for a few beers and some food with a friend. We went to check out boats at the Bass Pro shop and figured the CBS Scene would be cool to watch the Bruins game during lunch. Wrong.
The restaurant is really a giant advertisement for CBS. TVs are everywhere - hundreds of them and it's like a maze inside. We went to the bar downstairs and getting there was like tripping or something and this was before I had anything to drink.
We get to the bar and look at menus which were more about CBS programming than about food, order some buffalo wings because everything here was ridiculously overpriced for basically pub grub. Almost $5 for a bottle of Miller Lite - seriously? I drank a couple of those with the wings because I wasn't willing to see what a 22oz draft Guinness would be. I'm not cheap, but I don't appreciate being taken for a rube - which this place is clearly geared towards.
The wings came and they were just by themselves on the plate, no celery or anything. So my friend asks the snotty bartender if they serve it with celery sticks. Nope, not here. I know this isn't a big thing, but it does indicate that they don't care about your food experience. Lame.
I checked out CBS Scene for dinner and drinks last week. Â On a Friday night, we breezed right in, no wait. Â I started w/ a Veiled Lady cocktail, which was citrus-y and sweet (I asked if it was similar to a margarita, given the lime vodka and fresh lime, to which the server;'s response was "it's stronger". Â It was, but tasted nothing like a margarita).
For dinner I ordered the grilled vegetable pizza. Â I liked the array of veggies and the pizza itself was good. Â My fiance ordered a Reuben burger off the specials, and it was pretty tiny for sports bar fare.
I have no real complaints about our meal or our drinks, and service was efficient, though not overly friendly. Â A fine place for some beers and food to watch a game (on individual screens, no less).
Ummmmm, yeah.
We came in here the day after Christmas - Patriots weren't playing and no games till Monday night football, so we figured we were safe, a party of eight, for lunch.
Wrong.
Restaurant and bar was completely mobbed - it was as if an Arctic expedition had just returned and there was a "welcome back alive" party or something. Â We were told we had an hour wait so we sidled up at the bar, ordered some drinks. Â Alright fine, day after the holiday, returns, whatever. We were going to leave but the hostess was sure they could accomodate us. Â The bar staff hated us, or were annoyed with us, because we, god forbid, were ordering drinks. The wait soon became an hour and a half, and finally, almost two hours later, we were shown to our seats - after being told to wait in the "i" by the hostess, which I found kind of amusing. Â
Despite the huge crowd, the food was pretty much lackluster - I devoured my burger because I was borderline starving - and was underwhelmed with the whole scene. Â Considering the crowd and the wait for the table you would think the food was something spectacular - it ain't! Â Our table was by the window and could see straight into Gillette, so I guess on a game day we had a pretty sweet table, but whatever. Â
Our waitress was great, however.
I had been to Patriot Place many times before making CBS Scene my choice for a pre-Revs game dinner and drinks spot and this occasion arose a couple of weeks ago. We had over two hours to kill before having to enter the majestic Gillette Stadium and we were hungry. Accompanied by Jen H., Erick H. and David F., we proceeded to enter this restaurant after trying others in vain. The crowds and lines were too long at the other places. That should have tipped us off, because upon entering, we only had to wait a few minutes before being seated.
Immediately, the sports fan in me got a chubby from looking around and seeing all of these HD screens everywhere. "OMG there's the CAL game!" "And the PGA tour!" "And the USC game is about to start here, and my Yankees too!" I was frantic and very happy. But little did I know that it was all about to go downhill...
Yeah, what I didn't know is that every single booth in this place has a television with individual channel and volume controls. Quickly, this become very annoying, especially when the people in the booth next to us maxed out their TV and didn't even pay attention to the program. They were watching the Price Is Right and every time someone won anything, the thunderous clapping and yelling could be heard halfway across the restaurant. Lucky for us, they were directly next to us. Yeah, not fun.
When the waiter arrived and our beers orders were placed, we then proceeded to ask about the size of the pizzas. We were told that each of their pizzas, which come in one single size, are big enough for 2-3 people. So we placed an order for two different ones, figuring that we'd share them four ways. We also placed an order for an appetizer of artichoke and spinach dip.
A long while later, our appetizer arrived. It was the saddest excuse for a spinach and artichoke dip I've ever seen. Consequentially, I only took one bite and left it for the others to enjoy. I knew I'd hate it even before trying it. It didn't look traditional and came with some crappy chips. It was really gross.
Then came the pizzas, which were not nearly as big as we were told. In fact, they were barely big enough for one person. We could have easily ordered one each and would have been fine. The pizzas were alright, they was nothing special about them. Not great, but not gross.
The service was extremely spotty and although things started off well, everything came tumbling down as the meal unfolded. The waitress forgot some of our drink orders, got the pizza-size description completely wrong and also tried to charge us for a bigger beer than the one we ordered. A manager even came to try and demonstrate that it was indeed a 24oz but his logic was flawed. It was indeed a 22oz beer. What a sucker.
I don't think that I'd ever return there - I was very disappointed by this place, especially since there's not that many great, affordable food options at Patriots Place. I'd give it one star but I really like their giant, outdoor jumbotron which lives sports to the pedestrians so... Yeah. Good concept, very poor execution.
In my opinion CBS Scene opened up thinking they could bring customers in based on number of televisions in view alone.
I live nearby and would choose any other bar in the area before I would consider CBS.
The first time I was there, it took us a very long time and many aggressive attempts to get the attention of the hostess, who looked about 17 years old, was chewing gum and had the knowledge of customer service on par with that piece of gum.
After a lot of confusion and some bitchiness from said hostess on whether we should leave our name in order to be seated (I made the mistake of asking her if she wanted to know my name), we were shown a table. The problem is we had asked for a booth, since we were there to watch the game, and the table we had didn't have a TV and there was a column blocking the large TV on the wall.
We were told booths weren't available for us since we were a party of 5 and booths only seated four. We suggested a chair be added to the end, but were told it was a fire hazard.
Our food took forever to come to the table. Our waitress was a mirage. We saw her across the room, tried to get her attention, but alas she never got any closer.
Adding insult to injury, two couples with a baby carriage were seated in a booth, with the carriage parked right where our fifth person might have been seated. I guess the baby carriage wasn't a fire hazard.
The prices really feel unreasonable when you go to a place to watch the game and have to crane your neck around a giant white column, get ignored by someone who is working for tips and get bitched at by the hostess.
All of the staff looked as young and bitchy as the teens that hang out at Patriot Place.
I have returned once to meet up with friends. On a relatively slow night with many empty booths and tables, they were seated in the most remote table imaginable. The waitress was nicer than the waitress from our first visit, but she felt the need to tell us that though the kitchen was closed, they'd make our food anyway, even though we asked if the kitchen was still open when we arrived and she said yes... which is why we ordered food.
I've had a Lemon Drop Martini there, and there was very little alcohol in it, and they forgot the sugar around the rim.
I wrote a letter to CBS Scene via their website with my complaints and I've yet to get a reply.
After going to Bass Pro Shop with J, we decided to stop in here to get a quick bite to eat. The place was pretty empty - that probably should have been our first sign of things to come.
We walked in around 9 pm after glancing at the menu outside. I'll admit that  I'm pretty picky, so when I found a simple thing I knew I'd like, I knew we'd be good. However, they had apparently switched over to the bar menu at that point, which the hostess neglected to mention to us. After asking the waiter why half the menu was missing, he informed us that we had been given the bar menus. Ok, so it happens, no big deal, right? I ended up ordering a plain cheese pizza to split with J, while he ordered a chicken sandwich of some sort.
We sat on the top floor by the middle of the room, so it was easy to look around and notice the horrible set up of the place. Who puts three flights of rounded stairs in the middle of the restaurant? Cool idea in theory I guess, but when we asked our waiter about it, he mentioned that the kitchen was on the middle floor of the three floors, so food had to be carried up the stairs to tables on the third floor. Really? I watched a couple members of the wait staff do this, and I must say that I really felt bad for them.
It took over half an hour to get our food - despite the fact that there were less than 10 other people in the entire place besides us.
His sandwich was tiny, like the size of your typical slider - literally, he ate it in a couple bites - but with the price tag of an expensive burger. He mentioned that it really wasn't that great, but he ate it because he was so hungry. The pizza tasted ok on the first couple bites, but after the first (tiny) slice, I started to feel sick to my stomach and ended up throwing up in the bathroom. [side story - J has a strong stomach and didn't think the pizza was too bad, but when he brought it home to his roommates, one of them threw up after eating it as well!]
DEFINITELY not recommended!
3 stars and a decent time to boot.
now i know a pet peeve around here is deducting stars due to location, but the simple fact the krafts didnt put up one single sign in all Patriot place telling you where this is, sucky. yup, you will absolutely drive the entire span of the place, from east and west, north to south, looking, searching, cursing all to find this hotspot tucked inverted behind the movies, still overlooking the field, but hidden none the less.
also of note, inside the place is lots of stairs, but they have an elevator, keep that in mind if your old uncle is with you who cant do the stair thing.
so when we got inside and of course through the ubiquitous gift shop (!) we were sat pretty quickly, 4 and a high chair, the norm these days. each comfy booth has a tv and 15 different shows, TPIR, every sport on tv that day, i luv lucy, etc. i dont think they will be showing lost in this place. they also have 40 foot screens on the wall, tv up the stairs, tv on the plate (JK) but really, tv, specifically cbs tv everywhere, natch.
the menu selection was above average imo. i would have thought simple pub fare, mostly to cater to get em in and get em out, but not the case. our table had a full span of items, from order a veggie pizza to a healthy salad (not me , duh) brisket, which was attempted to be served with mayo, and a cheddar CB MR (ME). unfortunately, they gave me a raw purple one, but was quick to hand over the next burger in que. i guess thats nice to point out, as sometimes when you send back your order they need to start from the get go, maybe due to sheer volume it was quicker. this place did have a steady stream all afternoon, and i cant blame them, you can literally see right into the field. cool today, no chance in hell for a game day. no . pass.
service was mehish. although they had their game on,i found our guy (who im not naming) not as quick in a place that shouldn't be too difficult to do so. my aunt asked for a green tea, which she got one bag, and wanted an extra teabag. that didnt happen, and for 3 bucks for tea, dont you think you can get one? questionable, but inventory is inventory right? back in my day as a dub (waiter), id hook up double baggers as long as they werent a hot water only byoT person.
in the end the manager brought out the burger to make sure we were okey. all in all 3 stars, you should go over once to check it out with the rest of the stores over there, but that one time should be enough for a looong time.
Good scene, bad service.
We went to CBS Scene last night to enjoy a drink on their deck while watching the Red Sox game on their huge outdoor screen. Drinks were fine, atmosphere was just fine.. the service was not there. Below is brief snapshot of my conversation with our waiter.
Waiter: What would you like to drink?
Me: I'll have the Smokin' Marg (margarita made with Patron and Mezcal float)
Waiter: Umm.. that the drink the people next to you just sent back...
Me: Ok - so I shouldn't get the Smokin' Marg
Waiter: Umm.. I mean..
Me: Alright. How's the Ginger Rodgers (Gin, Ginger Ale, Simple Syrup).
Waiter: I don't know, we can't drink here.
Me: Ok. I'll have the Ginger Rodgers.
[Waiter awkwardly goes to get our drinks..]
My issue with this, is that he was unhelpful and had no knowledge of the drink selection. If you are going to deter a customer from a particular drink, I expect to have something suggested. CBS Scene should at least allow their staff to taste their drinks so they can provide the service required.
We were never approached for another round of drinks. We had to go inside the bar to ask the bartender to have our waiter bring us our check..
A nice place to go before a game or a show at gillette stadium... or even better, if you dont have tickets to a show or game go to CBS Scene. Â Sit outside at one of their tables order some food and beers and enjoy the show from the outside patio. Â I haven't tried the food so I can not comment on that. Â The TVs in the place are huge and thats what they're known for. Â Catching the game on the big screen while enjoying over-priced yet refreshing beer. Â Its like your in Boston, but your not, lol.
I went there before a show and me and my friends enjoyed ourselves. Â I know my sister and her husband went here on their wedding anniversary and enjoyed dinner her as well. Â Try it out.
I have been to CBS Scene a few times and my experiences have all been great.
My most recent trip was last night for Father's Day. I knew from previous experience that making a reservation is necessary, unless you want to wait an hour or more. We did have to wait about 5 minutes while they cleared a table, but my parents and I had a drink at the bar while we scoped out the restaurant and the awesome view of the stadium. We  descended down a metal staircase in the center of the restaurant to be seated, which I understand is mostly for show but its still a little odd. For those who may be going with elderly or disabled guests, there is an elevator available for all to use.
Our waitress greeted us promptly, explained the specials and was very patient with us (we took a while to order). I had one of the specials for Father's Day - a half rack of BBQ pork ribs with black beans and sweet potato french fries. My father had the double stuffed pork chop with cooked spinach and sweet potato  (the juciest piece of pork I have ever tasted) and my mom had the asiago chicken dish with macaroni and cheese and grilled asparagus. My parents are fairly picky about food, but they loved every bite! After our entrees, we finished things off with the dessert sampler: a combination of their cheesecake, apple crisp and chocolate bread pudding, which was perfect for sharing. Our bill came to about $100 (cocktails included). The menu seems to cover every type of budget... everything from $10-$15 salads and pizzas to $40 steaks, and everything in between.
Why did I not give CBS Scene 5 stars? Well, I find the entire restaurant to be too overstimulating. Having tv screens and speakers at each table is a great idea (especially if your date isn't going very well!) However, there are multiple big screen tvs all over the dining room which are showing different sports games simultaneously at a pretty high volume so the noise is a bit distracting when  you're trying to have a conversation at your table. And as another yelper previously mentioned, sports fans can't always tune into the games playing on the big screens at your table. The design of the restaurant is a bit more open and industrial, so the noise seems amplified.  Also, we intended to use a Phantom Gourmet gift card there, and were informed that they no longer accepted them. Might have been nice if they informed Phantom of that, so that their name can be removed from the website!
Overall, 4 stars for great service and food. I will be back!
The bad reviews I've read so far seem to mainly criticize the alcohol-consuming and carding policies here. Â Well, I had no problems or annoyances in that department, but I also wasn't here to drink myself into a stupor. Â If you're here for dinner and dinner only, you probably won't come across this "annoyance" like others have. Â Although I was carded once for a cocktail I ordered, there was really no other sign of this "problem" that others have described in such detail. Â The service was really good and most of the food I tried was good. Â The chicken wings were a spicy and sweet Asian glazed version, which I enjoyed a lot. Â The salt and pepper shrimp appetizer was also pretty good. Â The lobster summer rolls were more of a miss for me, but I do enjoy lobster meat, so at least there was that...
For my entree I enjoyed the seared scallops served over butternut squash ravioli. Â All of the components were satisfying, although I did think that the lemon caper butter sauce complimented the scallops much better than the ravioli. Â I never think of adding lemony flavor to a sweet ravioli such as butternut squash (a simple brown butter is a much better compliment). Â Otherwise it was really satisfying, two of my favorite things put together. Â Everyone else seems to really enjoy their entrees. Â The asiago cheese crusted chicken breast with mac and cheese was supposedly a very popular choice, and one of my dining companions definitely agreed with the waitress on that note. Â I would be interested in trying that next time.
Dessert was really good. Â I had the dessert sampler. Â The beignets were really yummy with a tangy cream cheese center, not overwhelmingly coconut-flavored in any way. Â The fruit crisp was yummy as was the bread pudding, although I found the texture of the pudding to be a bit on the chewy side at times. Â The hot fudge sundae with toasted marshmallows was also a really popular choice at our table.
All in all, I thought the decor and environment was definitely worth checking out, even if it is not a game day (it wasn't a game day when we went)... in fact you might have a better experience with better service and no wait! Â Like I said, the service was good, and the food was pretty "gourmet" compared to what you'd imagine in a sports bar. Â We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, but if you are coming here just to get plastered, then maybe you should find someplace else... this isn't your average sports bar.
Great place to watch a game, but if you want to eat or drink while doing so, you have to go somewhere else... They really do not want to serve you here for some un-godly reason. There is some super-strict Gastapo booze policy that I will TRY to explain...
You get carded at the door, get a wrist band. Norm. At the bar (which I was soooo lucky to get a seat at only b/c pals had been tailgaiting since Noon), you show your wristband. Fine. You can only order one drink at a time. Okay... so Kell and I are sitting there, she's a Mich Ultra girl, and I'm a Goose and Cran. I order a round. One....drink....at....a....time....! And it's not like she just didn't serve me, YET I have to show my wrist band.... again.... ugg... She puts the beer in front of Kell, and then gets my order. Again. Proceeds to make my drink, check my band (AGAIN!) and serves me. Meanwhile I'm not saying a thing, cause I know I'll get bounced before I watch the Pats get their asses handed to them.
Food was OK, I suggest the Fried Green Olives and Brisket Sliders.
I also suggest  you get loaded in the parking lot game-day style before heading in, otherwise you'll never catch a buzz.
The people watching is decent. Lots of meatheads in Brady jerseys giving the bartenders a hard time about the ridiculous alcohol policy, and to boot, getting their 22 oz. Bud Lites served in paper cups (not even HS keg-party-style Solo plastic ones) after they've run out of glassware. Nice.
UPDATE: I was just telling a co-worker about my experience here, and she let me know that CBS Scene was busted for serving minors and is on probation in regards to their liquor license. Pretty impressive considering they've been open for a month or so! YIKES...
We stopped in for drinks after a tour. Â The place had a few people at 5 pm on a Monday, which surprised me. Â The bar is pretty cool--it changes colors while we were sitting and you really can't be bored there (far too many tvs in the joint).
I had the sparkling scene, which was cranberry liquors and cava. Â Pretty tasty. Â Others had white zin (they were out of pinot grigio and the server had no clue what pinot gris was), sam adams (no light), other beers and the mango margarita, which was served in a martini glass. Â The glassware was not clean, and luckily the server noticed this before giving us our drinks.
We ordered the nachos to share and they were delicious! Had a bit of a lime kick to them and it was plenty for the 5 of us. Â The bar menu is a bit limited, but that's expected.
The space is really cool; lots of great views of the stadium and the parking lot. Â It is 85 steps to get to the top from the Stadium level, so be prepared for a workout! I'd love to spend the day at Patriots Place and go to the different stores; but I wouldn't come on game day.
