Well it looks as if I'm going to have to add to the long list of negative reviews of this place.

I'll admit, I hadn't read many of the review before coming. I was mainly motivated to go here because they participate in the Priority Club Dine rewards program and I needed a 2nd dine before July 15 to get 750 bonus points. So I figured, how bad could it be? Well, it's bad.

We went for Sunday brunch. It started out fine enough. The décor is a bit dark for my taste, with the dark wallpaper all over, but you get used to it. I thought the brunch was a bit limited, with few selections. The only starch on the buffer was home fries, which I considered more of a breakfast starch. There was nothing else to go with the chicken marsala or fish or sausage and peppers. No rice or pasta or anything. That being said, what I had wasn't the worst food I had ever eaten. Cooked to order eggs was a major plus. After the meal is where it really gets bad. Now keep in mind this is a table for TWO. Not a table for EIGHT, where one would expect an automatic gratuity to be added to the bill. Also keep in mind that this is a brunch BUFFET. You know, where you get up and serve yourself the majority of your food. I was blown away when I received the bill which included an automatic gratuity of 20% on THE ENTIRE BILL. I have NEVER received an auto gratuity on a party of 2 and NEVER, EVER on a bill where I did most of the work myself. Really Central Park? Are you serious? All our server did was bring us a couple of drinks and you charge me an $8 tip for THAT? Then the final straw that broke the camel's back was when I ordered a glass of orange juice. It came out in a nice tall glass, which was a good sign, and not in the typical shot glass size glass dining establishments usually serve OJ in. I noticed a melted ice cube in the glass and I was a bit put off because I don't like ice in my OJ, but whatever. The first sip made me gag! It was as if the OJ had been heated up on the stove and they tried to put some ice in it to cool it down. However, the OJ was so warm that the ice must have melted instantly. I gave the glass to my husband and told him to take a sip. The look on his face was as if he had just swallowed the nastiest thing ever. I couldn't drink it. It was undrinkable.

So the bottom line is, I will never return to this place. I do not appreciate an auto gratuity on a party of 2, and never for a buffet. Too bad, because I eat out frequently, but this place will not be on the list in the future.

I hate to do this cause I don't want to sound like a f'in snob, but tonight one of my regular haunts just gets a 2.

Plans had fallen through for a night down in Red Bank, so we decided to hit up one of our favorite local spots for some delicious burgers and a few drinks. I ordered the Memphis Burger, which is basically a pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw thrown on a burger with bacon and cheese. I've been dying to try it and was so pumped when it came to my table. It COULD HAVE BEEN soooo good but the medium burger I requested was dead. Well done as hell! Just not juicy enough to make it amazing. My wide for our normal standby Smokehouse burger with frizzled onion strings, cheddar, and bacon cooked mid rare. Decided to go with the sweet potato fries on this one because they're usually delicious and served with a warm maple dipping sauce and MAN! The fries were inedibly underdone, almost like they were baked half-way. WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THEM! Too be they sucked! My wife's burger was much more on point but still overcooked.

The waiter was cool and offered to take the food back no problem, but after 2 consecutive trips where their inconsistency was on display, and after tip paying nearly $50 for 2 burgers, a glass if wine, and a beer, I'm not really rushing to go back.

I recently moved to Roselle and decided to stop by Central Parks for drinks with my husband after picking him up from the train station, It was Friday at 5:30.  We sat at the bar, there were probably 3 other parties sitting there as well...it took about five minutes for one of the two bartenders to even say hello to us and then their demeanor was less than friendly.  We ordered some drinks and then asked for the menu to order food.  We ordered the buffalo wings and Classic CP sliders.  We saw them come out and be set on the end of the bar about 6 feet away from us. The bartender asked the food runner who the food items were for and she pointed to us, at which point she looked at us (remember we were sitting 6 feet away), then she ducks under the bar and walks away!!! What???  It would have taken her two seconds to grab the plates and set them in front of us.  When she returns 5 minutes later she asks us if we ordered food as if we hadn't heard her earlier.  The fries that came with the sliders were cold at this point, the wings and the sliders were pretty dry.  We finished none of what we were served.  I asked one of the bartenders for our check and it took her over five minutes to bring to us when she was clearly doing nothing else.  I would like to say we will never return but seeing as how Roselle has limited options I think we might be reluctantly forced into it.

Update: I forgot to mention when I ordered a water, it came out pink.  Gross.  Obviously they don't clean out their tap lines very frequently.

1 Star is too kind!  Very disappointed... The food was cold, the service was next to nill and the atmosphere was about as good as a soup kitchen for this Mother's Day Brunch. For regular patrons, this was a total downtick from what is normally a pleasant experience. I would not recommend this to my friends and I was completely embarrassed that this is where I brought my MOM for mother's day!!!! Oh did I mention there was zero room to walk and my dad kept getting hit by everyone who passed our table. It was an obvious grab for money with lack of care for the patron. Sad. I liked your place until today.  No Quality here.  I wouldn't pay 8.95 for this brunch let alone how we were ripped off  today.  Not sure we will return and would encourage anyone who cares about quality, service and people, Take your MONEY Elsewhere.

It was decent - the menu is a combo of American cuisine and the other half is sushi.  Our table ordered the fried calamari apps and that was really good.  So was the tuna pizza (think sushi pizza with the tuna) - the crust was crumbly so I was forced to eat mine with my fork and knife.  it was pretty good - my favorite though is still the one at Sushi House in Bridgewater.  I had the "Central Park" special roll - it was good.  What bugged me about it is that there was apparently peppered tuna in it but I couldn't really appreciate the fact that it was peppered tune.  Perhaps I just like it when it's sliced very thinly.  The tea options though was only ordinary tea or decaf (no green tea) - I just got the ordinary one in Chamomile and it was Lacas.

It was really loud though so we didn't want to stay for dessert because it was so hard to talk and hear to our friends.

My last review for this place was 11 months ago...it was straight to the point and I see that it was useful to a lot of people...I am going to miss it when I override it with this one and make it super tiny, but I must post this update.

Oh Central Park...how do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways...

I should give you a one because we went through hoops to get in last night and ultimately decided to not even bother. However, since my review from about a year ago, I have been here three times not counting last night and those three times were great.

Those three times were also NOT during Thurs-Sat and NOT before 9 PM.

Y'know...'club' and 'nightlife' hours...which are the times they are TRYING to suck people in.

I am an impartial judge and would be remiss to exclude my (3) joyous times from this review.

#1: Came here to watch Summer Slam. We don't follow wrestling LIKE THAT anymore, but it's always good to rekindle some nostalgia as you get older. Especially since the world is turning into...what it is turning in to. There was no cover to watch the PPV at all and the food was good. The service was good and the best part was EVERY television played Summer Slam and the audio from the event was blasting throughout the WHOLE  building. Good stuff. The event was on August 19, 2012...I do not know if they present PPVs in this fashion anymore, but TONIGHT...1/27/13...is Royal Rumble...and despite last nights atrocities, I am curious as to whether or not you can still enjoy a WWE Event here (no cover, good audio and visuals, good service, food, etc.)

#2: Came here for lunch with some co-workers. One of them is from Rahway and she suggested it. I am from Linden and didn't even think about suggesting this place. The food was good and cheap. Portions were on point for $5. And the waiter was okay.

#3: Came here for lunch again with two of my friends who live in Linden. The lunch was now $6, but whatevs...still good. Service was alright and they were playing soccer. I don't care for anything other than hockey, but my one friend present does like soccer...or futbol, and so I have to give them props, right? They know what to play.

There you have it folks...the Good. Wanna have fun here? Come during a PPV or lunch.

Now...the moment you've all been waiting for! Last night!

It had been almost a year since we set foot into this place during the 'Club Times'. Despite all the Facebook statuses and the pictures of our fellow Linden/Nearby Linden residents having tons of fun and gettin' crunk here, we withheld our interest and decided to stick to our normal nightlife routine...NYC/Hoboken/Legit Nightlife Scenes....etc.

Apparently, at some point, they decided to move the 'dancefloor' and 'dj' stuff away from the bar area and place all that in another part of the building.

I heard about this...hadn't seen it...and thought..."so they are gettin' bigger and bigger".

Central Park! The place that used to be The Cavalier Diner was turning into Webster Hall! Which was also made apparent to me by the fact that on my way to the Parkway, I would see tons of cars parked blocks away and tons of people dressed like they were auditioning for The O.C lining up to get carded.

The O.C ended in 2007 people!

Now...Central Park, you had my curiosity...but you still didn't have my attention.

So, for a year I stuck to the same routine when it came to a night out...Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Hoboken, Jersey City, New Brunswick, Atlantic City, Vegas, etc. Despite there being a place 5 minutes away from me (on foot) where I could go dance, chit-chat and drink, I was going three towns over to Shannon Rose in Woodbridge.

And then it happened....I got invited to a birthday celebration at Central Park.

Despite it being January, I was hoping the celebration was taking place at Central Park...y'know...the public park at the center of Manhattan in New York City.

    But nope.

    Roselle, NJ.

Normally I'd decline...but this wasn't an invite for a few drinks or to watch a game...it was an invite to celebrate the anniversary of a friends' birth.

    How could I decline?

Before we even start to drive, I tell my two friends that we are not gettin' in.

The drive was 30 seconds. 11:35 PM and there was nowhere to park in the parking lot. Expected...it's 11:35 PM. We drive for a few blocks and there's nowhere to park on Wood Ave.

It's cold as hell and people are walking all the way back there?

We double back and instead of going down Wood Ave, we pull onto a side street (Uncas). There's a ton of spots. On the other end of the street (Uncas and Wood Ave) however are cones and a dude in a safety vest. We park anyway and walk towards Wood Ave, Central Park on the left.

    ****TO BE CONTINUED***

Considering I'm a female and have literally never paid for a drink here, I give it 4 stars. Try the Rumplemints shot. AWESOME.

TONS of fun on Friday and Saturday nights if you like loud, dark, dance-y kinds of places. The only way you will be able to handle it for longer than an hour is if you get just as drunk as everyone else. It may seem hard to keep up but if you forget your dignity for the night then you're pretty golden.

If this is not your scene, however, stay far away. You can literally hear the music from down the street.

Also, shitty parking situation if you're not willing to pay $5. Some street parking is barely available but don't count on it.

**This review is for week-day lunches**

if you're into cheap lunch specials, and you're into $2 budd lite.  this is your spot.

Central Park isn't bad....but it isn't great.  The lunch menu is cheap, and it tastes that way too.

The restaurant itself looks great, inside and out.  There are flat-screen TVs all over the walls, it's very clean, and decorated nicely.  There's plenty of seating at the bar, high-top table, and regular dining tables.

The lunch menu has a lot to offer, but I've only enjoyed 1 of 4 things.  The chicken parm sandwhich had funny tasting gravy, the nachos weren't your typical bar nachos, and the sushi is (believe it or not) below ShopRite's.  The southwest chicken wrap is the only lunch item that I actually thought was good.

If you want cheap lunch beer - this is your spot.  $2 budd lite, and THEY BUY BACK (inside joke -richie)  You can get 5 beers for $10, you won't find this in the area.  You also won't find a place that has 1 million TVs on mute, but whatever.

The parking situaish is bizzarre.  They have a parking lot, but you miiiiiight miss it.  It's across a weird road from the location.  it seems like you;re turning down a road to the pharmacy, and then there's parking.  ALSO- there's maybe 4 different doors, but only one leads to Central Park.  the other doors lead to the other various things attached (legancy, dining room, mr east, hell?)

I say try it for lunch, see if it works for you.  I'd like a cozier place, that didn't feel so sterile, but that's just me.

I know this place is mostly a $h!t show, especially during the weekend but it's not THAT bad. The sushi is actually pretty good and affordable. It's really like the only place on that side of St. Georges one can even obtain anything different than chinese, chicken shack, fast food or pizza.
This is a sports fan paradise. Insane amounts of TVs are all over the walls, in different geometric patterns, sideways, upside down, inside out, everywhere. The sushi bar area is cute and accommodating. There's a very swanky, blue-lit area to the side with more cushy chairs and tables.
Back room was occupied with a serious looking poker tourney, so I couldn't really check it out. The bathroom stalls are cool, they have doors that go all the way down for the truly private experience. They should work on cleaning them more often though, as all but one were completely friggin disgusting when I walked in.
Uh....idk. I would like to come by and see it when it's club night, but knowing the area as well as I do, I'll probably end up fighting someone so maybe not.

Came on a Wednesday night around 7 while in town for business.

I found this place on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurants.com&s=8b83bf0ff8b716aae84527dc95577a310f201b166dcca25c8ca3824b15703869" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurants.com</a> and I was in the mood for sushi so I bought the certificate and headed over.

    Pros:
Good food. Spicy salad was amazing.
Yuengling on tap. Being from Illinois, this is huge.

    Cons:
    price. I would have been mad if I didn't have the <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurants.com&s=8b83bf0ff8b716aae84527dc95577a310f201b166dcca25c8ca3824b15703869" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurants.com</a> certificate.
Wait staff. attentive, but not bright. My waiter messed up one thing on my order and 3 things on the 4-top next to me.

Was not allowed since I parked on a public side street.  Don't bother contacting the police, it's Roselle they're lazy and wont do anything about it.  Not the kind of place you want to do business with.  If you support a place that basically says fuck the public we make our own rules, then this is your kind of place.

When I did get in the following week, it was disappointing.  Expensive (for new jersey) and it wreaked of armpit...I know that can be subjective but it says a lot about their ventilation when its cramped.

If you're a lawyer and know more about the law than I do, this place will be a field day of litigation.

As a sports fan you gotta love this place.  They have a ton of TVs, I mean there's no place in the this bar where you can't see your preferred game (giants of course).  Most importantly the beer is legit the coldest, ever! period! When i asked how, how can such a bar that sells so many beer accomplish such a feet, the bartender relpied and gave me some insight.  Their hoses are refridge!  Also cost only 2$! Can't beat that with any stick.

Sushi and the traditional bar food is good, but the rest of their good is mediocre.  But I usually don't come for the food, except wings or sushi.   Especially Monday night 1/2 off everything nights.

At night this place turns into a club and it gets PACKED.  They also just opened up a club room which is really cool.

My advice come for either a sports game, football games get wild and ranger v devil games.  Or come for a little local club action.

    Enjoy

It's a now and then lunch spot when I've got an hour for a sit-down lunch. Well, more than an hour, really. Let me explain. For lunch, food's fine. Love the walls covered in giant flat screen TVs. No need for any reading material. But the kitchen, the kitchen just can't get out a lunch, placed on a table, in a timely manner to save itself.

A lunch a Central Park requires much more than an hour....and NO reading material required.

I'll keep on trying, now and then.

the food would get 3 stars--good, but nothing special.  the menu over sells the items, but they're still good.  the decor and style, which has been recently updated from a diner, is 4.5 stars, at least.  the staff is young and good looking, and this really looks like a fun place to hang out on weekend nights.  it also fancies itself a sports bar during the day, and that looks like fun, too.

BUT, it also sells itself as a restaurant, and the service is abysmal!  now, i fully understand we got there at 5:30 pm, and they were setting up for the night.  we walk in, there are four people at the host stand.  we're the only ones in the dining room, and we're seated promptly.  that was the end of anything remotely approaching service.  so we're sitting there at a table near the kitchen and i notice a group of three waiters standing next to the kitchen door.  another group of four was standing in the middle of the joint, apparently divvying up tables.  a full 15 minutes came and went as every member of the staff sauntered around the restaurant, into the kitchen, out of the kitchen, each of them passing by our table without even acknowledging us.  finally, my partner went up and told the hostess, who followed us then proceeded into the kitchen!  five minutes later, she comes to our table and says 'i don't know who your waiter is.', then walked away.  no sorry, no i'll get one.  nothing.

finally a waiter came and apologized and poured some water and took our drink order.  we quickly gave him the full order, because who knows if he'd ever return.  another 20 minutes with this huge waitstaff buzzed around, still never even making eye contact.  could've been homophobia, but i think it was more ineptness.  food finally came, again, nobody came and asked how things were or offered bread.  finally our waiter came back and checked up on us, and we slipped him the credit card to save what might have been another 20 minute wait.

I kept passing by Central Park on St. Georges and had heard of friends going there for drinks/to watch games, so I decided to buy a <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> coupon and try it out.  I went with my boyfriend on a Friday night for dinner.  I thought the interior was very trendy- a really nice place considering the rest of the area doesn't offer much.

As a new vegetarian, I didn't find much to eat on the menu (not a huge sushi fan) so I ordered the pasta primavera.  The garlic wine sauce on the pasta was flavorless, and the waitress was nice enough to bring me a side of another sauce when I asked for it.  My boyfriend ordered a burger, which he loved.  I liked the extra touch of branding the burger bun with "CP".

I'd come back here with the girls for some drinks/appetizers.  Dinner, not so much.  Not the best place if you want to sit and converse- the music was way too loud.

We went here last night for dinner and drinks to celebrate my friend's girlfriend's birthday. It was our first time and our last time.

We got there around 9:30.  I had a soup and the spicy maki combination while my wife had a soup and the wedge salad.  The food was average at best and our cocktails were 'weak'.  I tried to keep upbeat and positive because I didn't want to ruin the birthday celebration.  It became harder to do.

The table we sat to have dinner at was positioned like an island.  The bar was to my right and the entrance to the place was on my left.  By 10:00, a crowd began to surround us making it a competition for elbow room while eating; not to mention people were seemingly standing right on top of you as you tried to eat.  People surrounding us were placing their empty glasses on our table, despite me trying to explain to them we were having dinner not just drinks.  Even still, we remained optimistic and stayed.

We were well aware that the place turns from a restaurant into bar at around 11 and we were fine with it.  Problem is, it is how they went about it.   They decided to send bouncers around that were instructing seated and paying customers to get up out of their chairs and give them up.  Then the bouncer removed the chair and attempted to maneuver his way through the crowd with a chair in each hand.  The DJ was announcing that he needed people who were sitting to stand up as the fire department was on the way due to a fire code violation.  Just what I want to hear when I am inside a bar =/  I used to 'bounce' at a bar myself.  If the owner or manager would have ever instructed me to remove chairs when the bar was at full capacity, I would've laughed at them and gone home.

If you ask me, they pulled a 'slick' one by allowing as many people as they could into the place and disregarded the seating/standing occupancy fire code.  They knew what they were doing but since they began charging a 10 dollar cover after 1030 or so, they were trying to make a buck while ruining dinner for those who were still eating it and risking the safety of those inside.

Our group decided to close out the bill at the dinner table and that's when I almost lost it!  The price for the two of us was 136 dollars which  included the three vodka cranberry I had, the two jack and diet coke my wife had plus the food (scroll up) we ate.  I could've done much better anywhere else, even NYC!!  Not to mention I could've stayed in my chair.

If you don't mind paying top dollar for over priced food, weak drinks and a headache, this is your spot!  Other than that, STAY AWAY!!!!

Take into concideration that this review is based on a man in his mid 30's that is married and has a child. I was with my wife and some friends on the night I went.

I went to this place to attend a small (10-15 person) birthday gathering on a saturday night in dec of 2011. I read a lot of negative google reviews before leaving my house that evening and I also checked out their website to gather info about dress codes and maybe see some pics of the place.

Upon arrival we decided not to utilize the valet parking so I have no comment about the process and if it is efficient or not.

We had some sort of pre-planned all you can eat appetizers when we got to our long table in the back. Everything I ate was good and I had seconds or thirds of everything. The atmosphere was fine and I really didn't see the reason for the reviews complaining about the loud music.

    (side note here)
I believe I have heard that if you put a frog in boiling water he would instantly jump out but if you put a frog in cold water and put the burner on and gradually heat the water up the dummy would just slowly get cooked.(end side note)

I bring this up only because I feel it relates to how my night progressed at this place. Let me explain. I was sitting in a seat that faced the back wall so I didn't see the slow process that took place behind me. It was a nice little place with a lot of little tables to dine at including the long table we sat at along the back wall. (it was probably set up that way for us) as stated before, the music volume was fine and I was enjoying myself and the company of the people we were with. Somehow they gradually changed this place into an all out night club during the time I had been sitting back there facing the wall. When we were done (I believe at the request of our group) all but one of the tables we were at we're removed from the area and carted off. Now that I was no longer sitting I started to notice how crowded the place got and how many people were standing near the bars/dance area up front. At this time I also realized that the level of the music was quite loud. I also noticed that the MC that I heard announcing birthdays 1/2 dozen times throughout the night (not a complaint at all - it was minimal) was now rambling on (alot more often)about drink specials and this and that and my favorite line he through out there this evening....."I see some sexy sista's in here tonight"

I went to use the restroom and passed an area (edge of the one bar/dance area/entrance to the room and way to get to the bathrooms) that was quite crowded (sort of a bottleneck with security people standing around) and it appeared to lead to another entrance that gets used as the club entrance after a certain hour. We left through that door later in the night and it appeared to be the door you would use to go out and smoke too.

I'm rambling a bit much so I'll sum it up by saying that I was kinda confused by the whole process of dining and then suddenly being dropped into a night club environment. (although I'll admit that it was a gradual process that was pretty interesting to be a part of). It appears that they have some nice wedding reception type rooms there as well but I can't possibly see how one could combine the two types of groups in the same building. (I didn't notice any other events going on the night we went). I'd like to add that other than the reviews I read about loud music I would never have expected the entire scene of this place to drastically change at a certain hour. I didn't see a sign on the door saying "eat up quick, dance club starts at 10 pm" or any other warning. Maybe there was one...

    All in all

    - Atmosphere was fine for me early on
    - Anything I ate I liked
    - They have an ability to slowly transform the entire place in a way that you don't necessarily notice it at first.
-Next thing.....you are in a nightclub with loud music, drink specials, inability to move, bouncing tittie$ on the dance floor. The whole 9 yards.
    - If I had left for two hours and came back I'd go " what the f#*k happened here since I left" but I was like a frog slowly getting cooked.
    - I'd eat here again. Earlier in the evening.

This may be a good scene for alot of people and I may have enjoyed it more if I were single, liked to get drunk, liked club music and was a bit younger. (or if I ate earlier and left)The novelty of this type of scene wore off on me a good 5 years ago so that is the angle my review is based on......Mid 30's, married guy w/a kid that doesn't mind just being home with the family.

Let me add that the dress code seemed ambiguous.

More important to me is that I enjoyed the company of the people I was with.

Disappointing.  Looks like they stretched themselves too thin with opening another location. Losing the luster
