I remember coming here years ago, but we had stopped because the place was always super busy. I forgot about it for a while, but then I saw a Living Social coupon and figured it was time to give it another go. So glad we did!
I decided to order the walnut crusted chicken, while my friend chose the lemon peppercorn chicken (which apparently is a temporary menu option). We both LOVED our meals. My chicken was so incredibly flavorful, and there was a ton of it! You get three thinly pounded chicken cutlets that are cooked perfectly, and there is no way you will be able to finish your meal. I had just one of the pieces and I was full. Yay leftovers! It comes with garlic mashed potatoes, but you can do what I did and substitute waffle fries.
Seriously, the food was so darn good, I'm surprised there weren't more people here when we visited. I hope more people frequent this place... just not as many as before so I don't have a long wait ;)
Classic sports bar with at least five or six large projection screens and a handful of smaller screens. Salads and sandwiches, but the winner here are the burgers.
I chose the BBQ burger with waffle fries. And of course, it comes with a bunch of pulled pork and barbecue sauce, cheese and bacon. Quite yummy and aren't waffle fries just the best?
Can someone explain the two "P"'s in Champps?
Again with the iced tea that isn't sweet tea? Isn't this the South? Grrrr...
Giving it one star because I can't give zero. We ordered four different items and they were all tasteless and just wrong.
We started with the Mongolian Egg Rolls which were advertised as beef egg rolls stuffed with "Asian vegetables." that should have been a sign. The egg rolls if you can even call them that were huge but not the good kind of huge they were made with flour tortillas that went completely gummy on the inside.
For entrees we got a burger with fries and a crab bread with a cup of potato soup. The crab bread was  a weird cross between a tuna melt and a grilled cheese. The potato soup thick, gloppy, and again bland.  The burger was just okay. It was all just layers upon layers of bad food. I have never been to any restaurant where EVERYTHING is bad.
The only good thing at Champps was the service. Our waiter was very friendly, quick to keep out drinks refilled and kind enough to bring us take out containers even though we didn't want to take anything home.
Had the chopped BBQ chicken salad for lunch. Â Very good. Â My only complaint is that every time I go there we get seated in the corner, where you can't see any tv's. Â That's the whole point of a group of guys going to a sports bar for work lunch. Â The place was dead beacuse of the holidays, but usually it's busy and tough to get in and out quickly for lunch. Â The burgers are good, and portions are more than enough. Â Salad was excellent, and sometimes they have some drink specials. Â Would recommend.
Review Source:LITTLE LEAGUE. Â This is a big, classic, American sports bar. Â Tons of TVs, lots of fried food. Â
They have a big menu, and I was able to find something I wanted, but I was disappointed that every single one of the "salads" in the "dinner salads" section of the menu featured some kind of meat. Â Seriously--the caprese salad, that perfect little trifecta of tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and basil, comes sprinkled with pancetta here. Â Not everything is better with bacon!
Our waitress was friendly, and service was quick. Â However, one of the "roll up" place settings on the table when we arrived had been smeared with ketchup. Â Yuck!
$5.99 burger Monday's . . . including the ones that run $13.00 = a great special, plus a solid Happy Hour that includes half off appetizers M-F 4-7 and a $1 of drinks. Â Also comes with fries. Â They also have a 9.99 Fajita night on Wednesdays that definitely might be worth trying in the future.
They have a bunch of TV's scattered across the place, though nobody was interested in watching highlights of the Miami Heat's game 6 loss lol. Â Service was good, the $5 Margarita was mehhh but I have had worse.
Outside of the specials, they seem kind of pricey here, but it is more of an upscale Sport's Restaurant, so that is to be expected. Â I have been here during a football game and the place does get live, but the value is had during the week. Â Either way the food is good here, from pasta to pizza to steak to bar food . . . Â and I'm sure you will have a good experience with Champps.
Champps certainly isn't fine or elegant dinning but it wasn't meant to be. What I would camper it to is TGI Fridays, only better and at the same price.
The menu is extensive and well orchestrated to suit just about any taste or palate. The salad, though simple, was fresh and crispy. I had a top sirloin for $16.95 which proved extremely tasty, perfectly prepared, and as with the rest of the meal, the portion was large. To me, it represents a good value for the dollar.
The drinks are on the pricey side, but large enough and strong enough, and the service was excellent.
As for the interior of the place, it is so large and with such high ceilings, you would think that you had arrived at a Wal-Mart. The walls are covered with flat screen televisions offering various sports, but the place did not strike me as a sports bar and the food was certainly not the typical sports bar food.
Considering the good bang for the buck, I give it four stars.
I've been going to Champps Americana for several years, mostly for lunch because it is close to my workplace. I've eaten my way across the menu and have tried almost everything on it! They are described as a "sports bar" and the walls are covered with television coverage of all the days events. But the food is definitely way past sports bar.
I can't write any farther without mentioning their half priced hamburgers on Mondays. One of the best restaurant promotions I have enjoyed. It's like Monday isn't complete without a visit to Champps to enjoy another burger.
Michelle loves the Cobb Salad (saw the salad but I didn't see any cobbs in it.) and usually has it on our Monday visits. The food is good the other days of the week, too. I have enjoyed the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and a few nights ago I ordered the Blackened Chicken Alfredo which was out of this world.
It's a little loud because, afterall, it is a sports bar, so it might not be the place to go if you enjoy conversation with your meal. And I have found the service to be spotty. Sometimes great and sometimes very slow.
I gave only three stars because of consistantly good food but inconsistant service. For more of my "tell it like it is" reviews go to my blog.
I've been going to Champps for 8 years. Â I live pretty close by. Â Its a sports bar, not fine dining. But as far as sports bars go the food is well above average. There is always a good crowd at lunch and happy hour because there are a ton of office buildings nearby. Â Over the years it has always been consistant and I have rarely had anything to complain about. Just the drinks prices, 6 bucks for a pint of Sam Adams? For that reason I usually only go for luch these days. If I want to spend that much for a beer I'll head down to Las Olas. Â It must be a good place to work, because the staff doesn't turn over much.
Review Source:America, is part of the name, and it is truly a regular American chain restaurant, the menu has the generic corporate feel and the general ambiance and decor is suitable to the attention deficit environment that we have become so used to.
To that effect, I found the service to be consistent and good as we stopped by for lunch a couple of days in a row. I opted for the pasta, trying to keep it light on the protein side, and found the food to be quite good, for a business lunch.
A good spot to grab a bite, but more like a place that you end up pulling into by chance rather than actually setting out to go there.
Yea..the food isn't 5 star, but for the price, the portion sizes are pretty damn good.
I go with either half sandwich and French onion soup or the marinated steak salad, which I must say is huge and pretty good!
Stop by on a Friday for a good Happy Hour and always some discounted appetizers.
Every Monday is Half-Price Hamburgers!!! This deal is the only reason why we go to this restaurant. Usually, it is too expensive for our taste. I had the Huevos Burger which has a great taste with the egg and jalapeno bacon. The mile high ice cream pie is tremendous but you need 3 or more people to finish it. Join their online club to receive some great promotions.
Review Source:Finally checked this place out after driving by a few times. Now that I work in the area, it was worth checking out. Pretty dead today for lunch but probably because it's the day before Thanksgiving. I liked the space, it was pretty open and lots of televisions. The food was good, not fantastic. I had a club sandwich and waffle fries, and it was good enough to return. The service was fine as well, the waiter didn't come back to annoy us too much, which I appreciate. Overall, not a bad place, considering the area, and I would check it out if you haven't already.
Review Source:I just got back from my third visit. Â We found out that on Monday's, Chammp's has 1/2 price burgers, so we thought it would be a good place to go and watch part of a game.
Monday #1
We both had a burger...but I can't remember which ones. Â They were both quite good, and the waffle fries were excellent. Â My partner had ordered the buffalo wings with the sauce on the side, and the waiter said that's how the wings are always served, with the sauce on the side. Â We waited and waited...no wingss...the burgers came out, so we cancelled the wings. Â The waiter looked perplexed, and we noticed my partner's burger came with onion rings. Â The waiter said "oh, you wanted wings, not rings...I wondered why you would want buffalo sauce with rings". Â DUH.
Monday #2
This time, we made it clear we wanted CHICKEN WINGS for an appetizer.  Then our burgers came out.  I took a bite of a waffle frie and amost broke a tooth!  It was hard.  My partner, and a friend who had come with us this evening, both commented on how hard the fries were.  I flipped over a few of my waffle fries and they were  burned....completely black on one side.  It was obvious they had tried to hide that fact by serving them with the unburned side up!  I pointed them out to the waiter (who had been our waiter the previous week)...who brought us a two huge plates of fries.  However, the fries did not arrive until we were almost finished with the burgers.  I have to say, this one waiter does not have a clue!!!
Monday #3
Yes, we decided to give Chammp's another try, since the burgers themselves are quite good and the fries are good when they're not burned! Â We did ask to be seated in another section so that we wouldn't get the same waiter. Â Sitting at a tall table near the bar, we got a really nice waitress, who more than made up for the dork on the previous two visits. Â Again we had WINGS, and again, good. Â He had the burger (good) and I had the "loaded chips" (sort of nachos with potato chips) which were okay, but not great.
I'd love to give a higher rating, but I think the fact that the kitchen intentionally sent out burnt fries which could have caused personal injury is really bad. Â I remain dubious, but hopeful.
Finally checked this place out last week. It reminded me of a slightly more upscale Applebees. The atmosphere is relaxed and can get quite busy during lunch time due to its location which is surrounded by business offices. Being that a co-worker and I were eating here for lunch, I decided to go with something a little "lighter" than a bowl of pasta or a burger (all which looked really good, might I add). It should be noted we were seated right next to the kitchen and a good deal of everything that was cooking, looked tasty enough to please.
I ordered the Roasted Turkey Sandwich and it was surprsingly delicious for being just a sandwich. Then again, it had bacon. And I suppose it's common knowledge that food with bacon is better than food that is without. The sandwich came with chips, but I asked to switch them out for a caesar salad, which they had no problem obliging with.
Service was fast and friendly. I would be interested to check this place out on a weekend of after work. It is obviously a sports environment with several plasma TVs broadcasting the latest sports news and happenings. However, if you can tune out the TVs you'll be a-ok.
Just started working in the area and went with my new co-workers here for the first time yesterday. Having read the previous reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but was surprisingly it was a decent experience. We had ordered several combination appetizer platters and I liked it, well, its kind of hard to mess up on that. The wait staff was attentive, lots of TVs, feels very open with these high dome ceilings. Overall, not a bad experience at all, and Im sure I'll be back cause there aren't too many places in the area....
Review Source:This was my first visit to a Champps. Â I have avoided this place in other cities as I confused it w/ Champions Sports Bar. Â While Champions is a sports bar that is connected to almost every Marriott, Champps is sports bar w/ better, less fried, less greasy food. Â It was a nice surprise!
Atmosphere - A big, open, airy sports bar. Â Big bar area to left with lots of tables and few booths throughout. Â This location was showing some wear and tear, so not a place to impress.
Food - It was unexpectedly good. Â I ordered the Greek salad to start, a chopped two green salad w/ onion, cucumber, olive, feta and tomato. Â It was not traditionally made but was pretty good and easy to eat. Â For the main I had the chicken fajitas. Â What I liked about this dish was the fresh, not frozen chicken that came w/ it, a HUGE surprise. Â For dessert I had the Turtle cheesecake. Â Traditional, fluffy, baked, cheesecake drizzled w/ nuts, chocolate sauce and caramel. Â It was tasty for shipped in cheesecake.
Service - Fast, error-free and w/ plenty of ice-tea refills. Â Not exceptional, but exactly what it should be.
Overall - I will definitely visit Champps again, as it is unquestionably not a Champions.
Unfortunately, this place is close to my office...so we go there after work to socialize. The food has gone down hill, they no longer have their half priced appetizers and the wait staff in the bar area is, for the most part, drone-like. They are not enjoying life, or even faking it! I'm bored with this place and my entire staff is looking for another watering hole.
Review Source:I'm not a huge fan of sports bars but this a good combination of the two things.
Good quality tasty food with attentive wait staff. Food  choices range from finger food  thru to steaks and pasta, a good variety for most people with excellent domestic and foreign beer on tap.
A solid choice if you want some good food with a game..
