This place needs a major overhaul. The floors were dirty, the decor is sad - like they just stuck a bunch of weird, unrelated items up on the wall - but worst of all was the food. My husband's prime rib looked good, but was tough and flavorless. I got stuffed shrimp. Â The stuffing was tasteless and so was the shrimp. I couldn't even eat it. Very disappointing. I gave it 2 stars only because the salad bar was ok and they actually comped our meal - the server saw that I wasn't eating and asked what was wrong so I just was honest and said it wasn't very good. I guess it should have been a clue when we were seated immediately on a Saturday night. Â
This was disappointing because years ago we used to love their prime rib (in Edison) and we were happy to find this one close to where we are now. But you have to start with a decent quality of meat. Sad. We won't be going back. Although we were slightly entertained by trying to figure out what the junk on the wall was.
Everything was slightly less than mediocre, from ambiance to food to service. Â French onion soup was disappointing, salad bar was underwhelming and our server disappeared half way through our meal! Â My steak Au Poivre was cooked beautifully, but the Au gratin potatoes were scary, they had no flavor and were quite dry. Â I would much rather spend my $$ at Longhorn Steakhouse.
Review Source:This is *the* place to get prime rib! Man oh man is it good here. I honestly can't speak for anything other than the salad bar, french onion soup, and prime rib at Charlie Browns because it is what I had the first time I went there and have gotten the exact same thing each time I have been back. Anyway, i'm beating around the bush here... ITS GOOD. Listen, this isn't the fanciest of places, it's been worn and torn but the service and quality of food remains the same. I'm a sucker for consistency which is why Charlie Brown's will always have a place in my heart. Try try try!
Review Source:I used to be a big fan, now it is sideways, at best. Â the food doesn't seem 'Fresh' anymore. Â It looks like it came out of box. Â Service was OK, nothing great. Â I had spoiled garish in my martini, the waitress didn't say anything to the manager? Â Really. Â
Its not bad for the price, but it use to be a lot better. Â Proof is at the table. Â Saturday night, at 7pm, we walked right in, got a table, and half the restaurant was empty.
I love Charlie Brown's, but really, just this location. Â I've been to a couple others, but they've not stood up to the quality of the food here.
Here's a list of five reasons why this Charlie Brown's is awesome:
- First, Sharon's an awesome bartender. Â We've been going here since we bought our house back in 2007, and she's one of my favorites. Â
- Second, they have themed drink special nights, and Thursday night is $5 Ketel drinks in the bar. Â A $5 Ketel martini is a wonderful thing! Â They've also got margarita nights, beer nights, and a few others. Â
- Third, the sirloin steak is one of the best steaks I've ever had...I'd place it third on the list behind What's Your Beef, in Rumson, and Fleming's, in Marlton. Â For years, people have told me how good the Library's steaks are...Charlie Brown's blows them away. Â
- Fourth, the salad bar is always well stocked, with great offerings. Â I know the focus at a steakhouse is on the meat, but they do a great job with their salad bar. Â
- Fifth, you don't need another reason to think this place is great.
I actually went here on a trip a while ago. Â We used our GPS to search for good local restaurants and it brought us here.
The food exceeded my expectations! Â The salad bar was great too. Â Our waitress was super friendly and our food was prepared in a flash. Â This was a great find.
Where's the CB love folks??
We were lured in by $2 pint night long ago (which has since ceased...) but still pop in occasionally when our blood lust becomes overwhelming and aren't in the mood to cook our own.
Their sirloin is easily one of the most aptly prepared in the area and for like $14.00 - it's a deal. Â The key is starting with a screaming hot cooking surface, which they do, and letting the meat rest. Â I say rare as legally possible, and they get it - crispy crust, bloody in the middle...essentially a Pittsburgh. Â
Sides are always decent, whether it be spinach or garlic mashed potatoes...of course there is always the salad bar which is on the small side compared to other Charlie Brown's, but still good. Â You must wait til people are done up there though, or else you'll run into the ever present "I take one shred of chee at a time to top my salad" customers they have. Â But if you go to CB's and DON'T expect that, it's your fault. Â
Service is always good...can get extremely crowded though, so if you're a later eater like me, you'll be fine, but due to the age of most of their customers, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., you're SOL.
I'm a sucker for a good slab of red meat. It's going to be my downfall.
Asides from the fantastic salad bar they have the only thing I really really look forward to when it comes to Charlie Brown's is the prime rib. A prime rib should be enjoyed rare or med. rare anything more than that is just sooo very wrong.
The prime rib comes out dripping in juicy goodness, accompanied with a portion cup full of tasty au jus.
I leave extremely happy and fulfilled.
Damn.... I must now go to Charlie Browns...it is my mission. MMMmmmM Good.
