I can't say how much I love this place! I discovered it over a year ago and have been coming back ever since. I'm from Mississippi so I know a thing or two about GOOD crawfish. While its more expensive compared to in Mississippi it's worth the price for good quality crawfish from Louisiana. Also Boaz one of the managers/partners there is so nice. He always stops by my table to say hello and ask how everything is. Their desserts are great as well.
Review Source:I don't know what they put in their seafood, but the crawfish in the whole shebang sauce is so freaking addicting! I HAVE to order the gator bites w/ cajun fries to fill myself up fast, otherwise I wouldn't be able to stop eating pounds and pounds of crawfish. It's that good.
The bf and I will usually get 2 lbs of crawfish (whole shebang sauce, medium spicy) with an order of gator bites, and we are pleasantly full at the end. The gator bites really do taste a lot like popcorn chicken but just a bit chewier. They're surprisingly tasty and come with a generous portion of cajun fries and cajun dipping sauce. If we still have room we'll get dessert...or order more crawfish lol. The chocolate bread pudding is scrumptious and indulgent but a tad heavy for my taste. The beignets are my absolute fave! The warm, sweet, puffy deep-fried doughnuts are dusted with powdered sugar and served with jam... so heavenly.
Service has always been attentive, friendly, and helpful. They'll even tie the bibs on you :) My only complaint is the parking... wish there was more of it.
I have been meaning to post a review since I visited last Friday nite. My whole experience was made more special because of our server named Shaun. He was the best. It really makes a difference when you feel like you are getting special attention but that was his regular service! The food was as good as the service so I will definitely be back soon. Tran was really nice too! I just wish they had fried crawfish tails other than on a salad:(
Review Source:I wouldn't suggest coming here to get bags of seafood when they don't have a deal going on because it's kind of pricey. The crawfish are all right but the shrimp is much better in comparison. Their alligator and oyster bites however are absolutely delicious and are worth coming to get whenever. It's really filling because they give you a pretty generous side of seasoned fries too. That in itself earns this place a star. The waiters are pretty good too, though if you're at a table in the corner they sometimes kinda forget about you. The place is clean and lively and finding parking is easy too.
Review Source:Went back again, 2nd time in the same week!! It was so good the first time I had to go back. Â Sadly, they were much busier and quality was just a tad off. Â I ordered the same sauce as last time, whole shebang medium spicy but it definitely came out hot or N'awlins Hot. I will say, i can take spicy but this was a bit much, had to ask Elaine our server for mild sauce to try to even it out (but it was still pretty spicy afterwards). Â So I could not even enjoy my corn, drenched in sauce, like i did the first time :( Â
My friends ordered the fried green tomatoes which were very yummy with the mayo/ketchup-like sauce on the side. Â They thoroughly enjoyed their fried shrimp and chicken tenders baskets and the fishbowl drinks that we got. Â Also found out they have sliced french bread here so you can dip in your awesome shebang sauce! if only it hadn't been so spicy lol. Â But hopefully the next time we're back, it will be back to normal :) b/c i was in love with that sauce the first time!!
We did try the beignets this time and they're pretty good! Come in a basket of five and definitely are shareable.
It says Arlington but its more Falls Church than anything. This place is a relaxed, seafood restaurant with casual seating and service. My buddy and I ordered crab legs, cajun style, which were about "a pound" which also came with a potato and corn on the cob. We didn't wait long as our food came less than 15 mins on a packed July 4th dinner.
I was slightly disappointed that we only got 2 clusters and that was considered "1 pound" especially since it was $22! But the legs were big and fresh and it was a fun time just cracking them over brown construction table.
They have this Mon-Thursday deal where for $50 you get shrimp, crab, crawfish and other things which ain't bad. I'll definitely be back and will try appetizers and dessert next time.
I'm from the Bay Area where we have a similar established joint called "Boiling Crab" (BC).  Chasin' Tails is definitely comparable to BC and one ups them in a few areas: #1 Crawfish is meaty and nicely sized! (At BC, meat is minimal and you're better off ordering shrimp.)  #2 Clean and modern venue  #3 Very friendly & helpful waiters  (Our waiter was knowledgeable about each spice level so much so he related the spiciness with known stuff like a Jalapeno.)  #5 I really liked how the owners designed a hand washing station separate from the restrooms **PLS make use of this! It's clever & BC def needs this! (PS. It's on the opposite end of the restrooms tho.)
All in all, great experience! Come for the crawfish! Didn't get a chance to try their other seafood items but I'm sure they are of quality! PS. First time having gator and the gator bites tasted almost like chicken nuggets!
One of the owners of Chasin' Tails sent me a very nice and detailed message after my original 2-star review several months ago. He explained that he suspected it was an off night in the kitchen and invited me to come back for a meal on the house so I could have a better experience. I recently realized that his message had been sitting in my inbox for months without a response. I was unsure whether to take him up on his offer given the time that had passed, but I really appreciated the thought and his generosity in reaching out. So a girlfriend and I decided to go and try it out again.
The food was delicious this time around! I got the shrimp (whole shebang style, medium) again and they were cooked much better, plus the sauce is addictive - greasy, garlicky, and flavor-packed. My friend enjoyed her crawfish. The fried oysters were also great, and of course, the Cajun fries! We enjoyed dipping the fries in the sauce left over from our seafood. I washed it all down with an Abita Purple Haze and we had chocolate bread pudding for dessert.
We had a very sweet and attentive waitress, Jennie. The manager, Tyrell, came to check on us frequently, make suggestions, and express many times that he wanted us to have a good experience. Everything went so smoothly and my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves. They had a nice playlist going, everyone looked like they were having a fun time, and it's an experience and cuisine that you don't find around this area very often. They have some cheap happy hour specials on huge draft beers. I live quite close by and I can't wait to walk over and sit on the patio with some drinks and apps!
Chasin' Tails, thank you for the meal and for showing that you really do care about your customers' satisfaction.
My wife and I went to the Chasin Tails in Arlington, which was a biznatch since there is never any parking ever. In addition, there is also very limited public parking spots and no garages dedicated to public parking. However, parking is not something that should ruin your dining experience right?
So here are some notes that I took on my phone while I was there:
The menu is confusing as hell and there is really no reference of how much a pound of food is. I like to eat a lot an the while time my wife and I were trying to figure out if a pound of mussels will be enough or too much. Turns out a pound of mussels is too much. Thus I made the note in my phone: " Lots of Shenanigans! I don't like sharing with people so that sucks. Also the bags are plastic and I would prefer paper."
We brought a big party of 12 at 730 on a Friday.... Badnews bananas.
When we finally got seated, 90min later, the waitress was a little flustered but that's fine. I hate waiting. When  I am waiting at a business, I feel like not only are they taking my money that I worked for, but then they are also taking time from my life that I can live somewhere else doing something else and that is depressing. The girls at the front didn't forget us though and updated us on how long it would take despite the fact that they told us 25 min every 25 min.
The cajun fries are like crack though, get those in addition to the gator bites. Don't worry about anything else. The crawfish is sub-par along with everything else. But get the fried stuff, it is cheaper, Â not as messy, and tastes way better. Â
Although the bayou blast (drink) tastes like spray suntan lotion... You get a lot of bang for you buck. So if you have a drinking problem this might be good for you.
I didn't like this place, however, I hate places like this with stupid little gimmicks like eating pounds of seafood out of a plastic bag. I also hate sharing with people. So I cannot give this place a bad rating because I am an asshole.
I think the average person will get a kick out of this place and this place deserves business. Just take my word for it though do not get the bags of seafood, even though they seem more fun, you'll just leave kind of hungry still 40 bucks later. Get the fried stuff.
The bathrooms are nice and clean for rush hour. Oh yeas and for the perverts out there, the manager seems to only hire waitresses with nice butts. That is one thing I noticed and told my wife, and she agreed.
Ok good luck.
Dear Management,
We tried Whole Shebang sauce today. To be honest, the garlic taste is too strong. It will cover the natural flavor of any seafood, unless you want to serve frozen crawfish later (just kidding). However it would be prefect if goes with something like cold noodles (flour made asian noodles, not wanton or pasta). Think about it .And flat bread (Indian Naan) maybe good too. Just my 2 cents
Hongda
Yeah I pretty much cannot find a fault here.
Our group of 9 was seated at a nice large table, and we were promptly greeted by our waitress who took drink orders. Yes, you can get a water with lemon, and yes, those huge mugs of beer are quite massive. One of the staff was even kind enough to change the channel of one of the TVs to a match that a couple of us wanted to watch.
Anyway, the menu for Chasin' Tails is pretty large and expands way beyond the crawfish and shrimp that it's known for. You can get wings, fried green tomatoes, fried alligator bites, or even a whole lobster. For the traditional experience, pick your pounds of shellfish, your seasoning mixture (really, just go for the whole shebang), and your spiciness level (I recommend "Hot" for a kick that doesn't overwhelm the flavor).
The fried green tomatoes are really good and not tart at all. In fact, they are kind of like onion rings in taste and texture. Highly recommended. The Cajun fries are massive and extremely munchable. The wings were apparently surprisingly good, and the gumbo was also a hit.
Now, the crawfish and shrimp were the stars of the meal. There is tons of flavor packed into each order, and it's all extremely fresh. The shells were easy to crack open, and the flavor permeated the meat inside. I was sucking the seasoning and juices off of every crawfish and shrimp. Amazing.
The corn, potato, and adouille sausage that are packaged into the boil are great as well. Any way to help mop up the delicious sauce is welcomed.
CT is wildly popular and constantly packed, and there's good reason for it. If you need a fix of a crawfish boil, definitely check it out.
I had the pleasure of eating at Chasin' Tails last night and the food and the service was outstanding. Â Let's start with the food...a pound of steamed shrimp, a pound of crab legs, and a pound of crawfish, each in its own separate steamed bag and each bag contained corn, potatoes and the most delicious sauce that had settled at the bottom, great for dipping! Â One of the partners, a gentleman named Boaz was nice enough to stop by our table, inquire about our experience and take a genuine interest in our feedback (amazing customer service!) - we were pleased with everything. Â We topped everything off with beignets (that came with a tasty strawberry dipping sauce). Â If you're a seafood lover this is a place you must put on your list!
Lastly, do yourself a favor and try some of their special sauces.
First off....if you dont like getting your hands dirty and sharing a clear plastic bag of seaoned seafood, this is not the place for you. Â If you dont mind that concept, this place is for you! Expected some splash damage and expect to great tasting foods. Â
I visited the place two, both times they were out of lobster.....  FYI don't expect stellar quality service from high school kids.  Would give it  a better rating if they had what i wanted in stock.
The food is pretty good, the service is pretty bad. Â Tried a lot of menu items - the salad was good, the shrimp were good, the mussels were good (as long as you're okay with putting your hand in a bag full of butter and grease), and the crab was good too. Â The crawfish are medium-sized at best, but I think you have to expect that if you're eating crawfish in the DC area. Â The problem here is the service. Â We were eating outside and they assigned our table to a waiter who didn't have a whole lot of outside tables, and he was basically never around. Â Took about 15 minutes to get our first round of drinks, had to wait 10 minutes to ask for paper towels, etc. Â If they'd put a dedicated server on the outside tables, so they had adequate reason to actually check on them, I'd give the place four stars.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night around 9pm and wanted to sit outside because we brought along our little dog friend. We spoke to what seemed like a busboy and a hostess who had the table cleaned promptly.
Then we proceeded to wait 10 minutes for someone to bring a menu and greet us. Nothing.
I finally had to go inside and notify another hostess who then asked another server outside to take the table. That server was nice enough to take us as her last table. Â We did mention that it was our first time there but when the actual crawfish arrived - we had to grab another server to show us the correct way to eat the crawfish.
They were out of ice tea and the crawfish etouffe. :(
Everyone was super nice and kept coming along to greet us and our dog.
The dessert was amazingly good!
They have fun shirts that say things 'the fish cray' and etc. They should have one that says 'Clams will make 'em dance!' as one employee mentioned to me! :)
Despite those mishaps - we will probably be returning!
I love this place so much that I threw a birthday party here! Â We had 30 guests who all had a blast.
Aimee, an awesome manager, worked with me to plan the best possible menu. Â She gave me a list of menu items for a buffet and then asked me to come for a tasting. On a Friday afternoon I brought several friends for drinks and a bunch of taste testing.
We settled on shrimp and clams, wings, catfish, and two types of fries. The chefs even made coleslaw and a fruit platter for us! Â These items aren't even on the menu! Â Hey chefs! Your coleslaw is fantastic! Â Add it to the menu!
Aimee and her colleague (Tran?) set up the private room for us, served drinks, and set up the buffet. Â
Our friends, and especially the guest of honor, had an awesome time.
This place is fantastic for happy hour, dinner, or a party! Â
I will admit though, Friday nights are overwhelming and crowded. Â Happy hour is much more fun.
Slice of Cajun heaven trucked into Arlington. Amen, my friends, amen. Â
I mean, I could have done without watching the poor crawfish die on the table next to me. A group of Marines were enjoying a night out, when they noticed one of tier crawdads was still alive. They pulled him out of the broth, gave him a smoke, and waited for the inevitable. I think I heard taps playing shortly thereafter.
This place was great. We had shrimp, clams, mussels, jambalaya, chicken, catfish, and god knows what else. It was really, really damn good. Â The proprietor, Boaz, was a real stand up guy.
I'm definitely coming back, and bringing friends.
I am from the lowcountry so this isn't exactly lowcountry cooking, but it is very similar, but different. Â Ya know? This is Nawlins' cooking!
For starters, I ordered the wings with Shebang seasonings. Â The wings are breaded and then covered in the seasoning. Â A half order of the wings was enough to fill me, so they would be perfect to share with a table of 2-3. I am not usually big on breaded wings but the shebang seasoning made the wings worth talking about. Â Also, the portion of the wings were from a hefty chicken. Â It made me realize how skimpy my last order of wings were.
My entree was the jambalaya. Â This was great! While Jambalaya may seem like an easy dish, it can go wrong in so many ways. Â For me, my rice needs to be cooked perfectly and all the meat involved need to be in sync with the tomato sauce. Chasin' Tails got it right. Â I was disappointed that I couldn't finish my entree and began craving my leftovers later that night and regretting that I didn't take the remainder home. #fail
I noticed that the other dishes are not served with utensils. Â Which means this is the worst place to take a first date. Â You are eating with your hands and if you order the Bayou n' a Bag, you will probably smell like seafood the rest of the night. Â Again, not a place for making great first impressions. Â Great place for hanging out with friends or reminiscing on the great cuisine that Nawlin's boasts.
I've never been to Hot n' Juicy so I'm not sure how this place compares. Â What I do know however, is that Chasin' Tails was pretty great. Â Like Bryan W. said, Chasin' Tails is a no frills and clean restaurant. Â It's casual and laidback vibes-- I dig it! Â Tables are covered in brown paper, eat on the table with your hands, plenty of paper towels and you are given plenty of utensils to shell your shellfish (no forks, etc. but crab crackers and pickers).
Man friend and I made a 9pm reservation and "T" was our server. Â She was nice, attentive, and a hands on server-- I love that. Â She tied our bibs on and taught us how to crush and eat crawfish more effectively.
We started off with some beers. Â They had run out of some beer options so I would probably go earlier in the evening. Â Ps. They have happy hour specials and I definitely have to go back for that. Â
You can also order a "boil" of any type and quantity of fish you like in your preference of flavor and spice level. Â We ordered the "Bayou catch" which included crawfish, snowcrab legs, mussels, clams, potatos, corn. Â We ordered ours Cajun style and medium. Â In no time at all, our food runner comes over with a pail for dumping shells and a plastic bag filled with our fish and sauce and BAM! Â We make way for attack. Â T checked in and gave us some tips to be crawfish eating experts, she was great! Â Our Bayou Catch was more than enough for the both of us and I would definitely recommend for 2-3 people. Â CT would be a great place to take a group so that you can order a bunch of appetizers and stuff to share. Â We enjoyed our seafood boil but boy oh boy was it SPICY! Â Man friend and I both like spicy foods and were surprised by how spicy the medium was (Thanks for the guidance T!) Â We could still taste the fish but you could feel the sting and runny noses ahhh! Â Sexy spicy hot sauce all.over.your.face! Â Wowzers! Â Good thing man friend and I are comfortable with each other as we joked about how funny it would be to take a first date there, to which the boyfriend commented on me not giving a ----. Â Ah! Â messy eating and crushing spicy crawfish! Â Do work son! Â
While we thought we could not eat anymore, T gave us our dessert options and boyfriend jumped at the beignets. Â I've never had them so I was like eh whatever but when they arrived shortly after ordering them, OH.MY.GOD! Â The beignets were SO GOOD! Â I nearly ate the whole thing-- tasty fried donuts covered in powder sugar with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping and ice cream to cool our tastebuds. Â DELISH!
The manager was walking around asking how neighboring diners' expeirences were and while he did not make his way to our table, I did notice and appreciate the gesture- shows a restaurant's pride on customer service and standing by their product. Â
Chasin' Tails was AWESOME, I enjoyed my experience and I'd def go back!
Chasin' Tails has that habit that I've sadly seen a lot of restaurants pick up: Even if having more tables means having *bad* tables, you need more tables. And make sure to fill those shitty, shitty tables first.
When you walk up to Chasin' Tails, you notice there's a generous amount of outdoor seating - with a scenic view of traffic and 66. What? Who would want to sit outside and breathe fumes from cars and trucks waiting at the light, listening to engines, car stereos, and honking? Worse yet, if you want to get INTO the restaurant, you have to walk around chairs and tables.
When you walk inside, you see a small waiting room area with a lobster arcade game, and a wide-open dining room. Plenty of tables were available, so I figured we'd get a great seat.
Wrong.
We get seated at a small, two-seated high-standing bar table behind a glass decoration, right next to the entrance. This table also has a scenic view of the restrooms, and a server station. This section was completely cut off from the rest of the restaurant, and you have a view to ONE TV. One. The dining room has nearly a dozen.
What did I do? Why am I being shamed? Why am I shuffled off to the corner? Why do I have to sit on a high bar seat?
So I waited until we got a waitress, and asked to move. "Oh... uh, I'll check?" What? I just walked past a ton of empty four-seat tables in the main dining room? Are they all reserved? Do they cost extra? Good Lord.
So, indeed, we're told they have a table, and we walk into the dining room, all the way to the end of the room, to a two-seat table. Right next to a washing station for customers and rolls of construction paper for the tables. That's... slightly better, I guess. As long as you don't mind the sound of constant tearing. Also, because you're at the end of the room, you often have people walking up to the table to look in the back, thinking that's where the restrooms are, and lots of restaurant staff walking by.
What I'm saying is, at 2:30pm on a Sunday, when the place is empty, why the hell are you hoarding those prime tables? All this experience has taught me is that I have to lie, and say we have two friends meeting us at the restaurant.
Further more, for a restaurant that serves beer, finger foods, and has a ton of televisions on the wall - why is every single TV tuned to the same college baseball game? Who watches college baseball? I know for a fact that there were three live MLB games on, as well as ESPN News. Any of those four options would've been superior.
Folks, what this comes down to management. Chasin' Tails has nice servers, a nice look, and the food isn't bad. But treating your customers like moronic cattle that don't care about their experience out means you're going to get a lot of one-time visits.
Unless I know someone who goes and notices a marked improvement, I won't be back.
I like this place better than hot and juicy. You get more bang for your buck here. I get greedy when I see so many choices on the menu so I got like 5 things.
Cajun fries- really good, flavorful!!
Oysters- Fresh and delicious
1lb Crawfish- Â garlic butter , medium sauce- so good!!
1lb Mussels - garlic butter, medium sauce- so good!!
Crawfish Mac and Cheese- really cheesy and delicious
Needless to say I was pretty full after eating all of this but it was worth it., I'd come back here again. Service is really good and the food comes out pretty fast. It was my friends birthday in a week and they gave us free ice cream.
I often wake up thinking about Chasin Tails.... the food was on POINT. Â I love the easy access to reservations onliner and appreciate them holding our reservation for almost 20 minutes on a busy night.
I have referred many people to this restaurant and will return in the near future.
I like this place for their crawfish! I like the whole shebang sauce!!! Highly recommend it! They have 34 oz beers and I highly recommend that to go with the crawfish! Beware of the spice level! Medium was pretty spicy for me already and I'm normally okay with spice.
Also to all the men, this place has a lot of pretty Asian waitresses
Yum! I've been to Chasin' Tails a number of times since it opened last year and it just keeps getting better.
The Bayou Catch is my go-to (available Monday-Thursday only): It's perfect for two and gives you a little bit of everything if you're indecisive like me. It includes 1 lb. each of crawfish, clams and mussels, 1/2 lb. each of shrimp and snow crab legs, corn, potatoes, and andouille sausage. My flavor of choice is the whole shebang - also great for my indecisive nature! The degree of heat is up to you too!
I also love their assortment of fried seafood, gumbo, and crawfish mac n cheese. You can't go wrong no matter what you choose. For a bit more indulgence, I love their beignets and chocolate bread pudding too.
Chasin' Tails is great for groups and Sunday Fundays: friendly service, great food, tons of TVs, and plenty of drinks. Doesn't get much better than that. :)
I'm not huge on seafood myself. Â A lot of the things they have here I won't eat. Â I'm horrified by the big bag of crawfish.
But I came here with a bunch of work people and we sat outside on a nice day. Â The outdoor seating is nice, but it's also next to some noisy traffic on the corner!
I had the jambalaya, which actually doesn't have any seafood (sadly... I wanted at least some!) but it's chicken and sausage. Â It was a lot of sausage. Â And the waiter warned that it was spicy. Â It actually isn't spicy. Â At least not for me. Â Sad face again.
But the best part about here was their happy hour special. Â My 34oz Yuengling was something like $6. Â I'm in.
Had dinner here on Fri/10 May:
- Sauce is excellent. Â I called it "butter soup" and my niece was literally drinking it by scooping spoonfuls in to her mouth.
- The bags of food (crawfish, mussels, crab legs) also had the occasional random red potato or piece of corn on the cob, so that was a nice touch.
- Friendly service.
- Prices seemed pretty standard with competitors Hot 'N' Juicy Crawfish and The Boiling Pot.
- Huge selection of beers, in cans/bottles and on draft.
If you're looking for a great place to eat without spending an arm and a leg, this place is it!!! I've always been hard pressed to find a place with real, great cajun food in the area and I need not look any further.
I definitely suggest a mix of all three sauces and caution on the spiciness of the food. I usually like spicy food but underestimated the spice level (I got arrogant lol). The waitress recommended we do a medium and I thought we should've got spicier. Thankfully, she was spot on.
The mussels are great because you can suck up the juice inside the shell and the catfish is FANTASTIC. Crab legs and fried gator will make you wanna slap your mama. And the bread pudding with ice cream? Incredible.
Solid 4 stars. Â Easily accessible, ample street parking during the early part of the week. Â Get there when the open at 5 for happy hour specials.
Awesome service from a very attentive young waiter who "bibbed" all of us LOL. Â Manager came around to check on us and even communicated with us on Facebook when we mentioned them, prior to arrival which was a nice personal touch. Â One of my friends was trying crawfish for the first time and didn't like it. Â They substituted it out for crab legs and removed it from the bill without questions! Â
We had the calamari, fried green tomatoes (really good!) crawfish Mac and Cheese, sweet potato fries, crab legs, crawfish, shrimp and fried soft shell crab.
The garlic butter they use on the boiled shrimp and crawfish was amazing. Â The Cajun fries, wow! Â The soft shell crab wasn't that impressive and I think it would have been better piping hot. Â The crawfish Mac and Cheese was ok too but underwhelming compared to everything else on our table. Â Literally still tipsy from the Bayou Blast and mojito 7 hours later! Â
It was a lot of fun and I'd go back again and again. Â Recommend it!
Love that Shebang sauce!
Fresh crawfish, yes! But I always opt for the shrimp. It's nice and plump and 1lb of shrimp can feel a girl like me. Can't choose between the three sauce styles? well just get the whole shebang! (a mix of all three flavors) and you won't be disappointed. I like how you can choose different levels of spice/heat (mild, medium, hot, n'awlins hot) but I hear the medium is pretty spicy so be careful. The bayou catch deal feeds a good 2-3 people and you get to taste a little bit of everything. Fries come in generous portions and are nice and crunchy. I assume they have a nice deep fryer. Their fried fixins' (according to their menu is hand tossed in their homemade batter) which is a little too much for me. The batter is too thick. I like things to be lightly breaded but that's just my take.
I like how they have a hand washing station which is convenient so you don't have to wobble over to the bathrooms with shebang sauce dripping from your fingers.
Oh and there is a full bar! and the desserts are delicious as well.
LOVE THIS PLACE!
We first came here when it first opened and we didnt really like the flavor so we were hesitant to try it again but since its so much closer than going to Hot N Juicy, we decided to give it another shot. OMG! they have changed the flavor of the sauce so much and now it is SOOOO good! We are so excited because in our opinion, Chasin' Tails is offically better than Hot N Juicy now!
We have been here so many times now and we always get the crawfish, shrimp in their spicy sauce and looooove their sausage and corn too (we always get extra sausages)!
Believe it or not, their friend catfish is pretty amazing too!
dipping the catfish and fries in their spicy garlic sauce from the crawfish and shrimp...OMG AMAZING!!!
They also have the 34oz big beers! what is better than drinking a big ice cold beer while eating spicy juicy crawfish!! omg...making me drool just thinking about it!!
Don't forget to save some space in your belly for their amazingly delicious beignets!!! super yummy!!!
The place is super clean n trendy with a nice big bar with TVs! the staff is always super friendly and nice!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place :)
3.5 stars. I'm rounding up though.
This place is interesting. I really like that you don't have to use utensils. It's a nice place to eat seafood and get sloppy. Honestly, it reminded me of the sumer gatherings we'd have at my grandma's house as a kid, where we would lay out newspaper on the table and go to town on crabs and shrimp! Those were the days . . .
So now I have Chasin' Tails in my life. The way they season crabs and shrimp is just amazing. Absolutely amazing. Boyfriend and I quite enjoyed our food. The one thing that freaked me out was the fact that they leave the heads on the shrimp. I know it's NOLA style. But I'm not from NOLA. I'm from here. And it freaks me out. So I stopped looking at the shrimp and just pulled their heads off in the bag and then proceeded to enjoy my food. Crisis averted.
Service is meh. It's hit or miss. Young folks that may not be really into their job. All I ask is that they treat me as they'd like to be treated. Not too much to ask, really. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't. Hit or miss.
Overall, I really like Chasin' Tails. It's not cheap, but if I find myself wanting to go out and get some GOOD seafood, I know where to go.
I give Chasin' Tails a 4.5/5 stars.
I've only been here once, this past friday night for dinner, but I definitely look forward to returning and trying out different dishes. The atmosphere is great at Chasin' Tails. From the waiters/waitresses who are friendly and helpful to the tables are covered practically in "brown bag" paper and finally, to the lobster game at the front, this place screams a good time.
I came with another person and we shared a pound of crab legs and a pound of shrimp. We ordered both in mild garlic butter. The seasonings really seep into the crab legs which were tender and a flavor explosion in my mouth. The shrimp, on the other hand, didn't take the seasoning as much so even though it was cooked well, it didn't seem amazing in anyway to me. For the prices, I would say it's worth a go to eat here! Definitely.
An added plus: If you're a southerner, their sweet tea is so legit!
--4.5 stars--
I have been wanting to go to this place ever since I saw the pictures that my classmates posted. Make some reservations! My sister and I were glad to do so since there were only a couple free times available. We ended up going later in the night.
the food & drink.

Alas, this is one of the few times I don't have a picture of food since I was so hungry and had to eat right away. We ordered our bag with garlic butter and mild flavors with melted butter on the side. It came out pretty fast and really hot! As soon as it cooled down, we devoured the bag and the flavors were on point! I'm not a big fan of spicy, but the mild lived up to it's name and I think I might be daring enough to try medium the next time. The bag also comes with a corn on the cob and a potato.
shrimp steam bag:
This is were that 1/2 star came off. Not sure if we have been spoiled by always getting our shrimp flavored with old bay most times, but we couldn't taste the flavor in our shrimp. We ended up adding sprinkling some salt on these to enjoy them.
sweet tea:
So I'm from the South and it's not sweet tea unless there's a ton of sugar in it. Most places skimp out on the sugar, but this has got to be one of the BEST sweet teas I've tried. There's a hint of lemon in there too.
the service.
Brian was our waiter and he was super nice to let us know how to order. He also informed us that they had run out of fresh crawfish, but they had some frozen ones on hand at a discounted price. The place is all about eating with your hands and since we ordered some crabs, we got some sweet bibs and utensils for cracking.
Overall, love me some seafood and this place does it right! Next time, I might wanna try my luck at their arcade claw game for lobsters!
My first time there and certainly not my last.
Ordered two 34 oz. Yeunglings during the HH special before 7 pm for $8 each. They were humongous! Probably won't be doing that again because of the size but definitely a good price.
Appetizers: fried oysters and cajun fries. The oysters were really scrumptious with the sauce that comes with it. The cajun fries were addicting to eat. Very savory and perfect with the sauce that came with the fried oysters or with ketchup.
Main entree: Mon-Thurs they have the Bayou Catch special, so we got that and I personally think you get a bang for your buck if you want a sample of everything from the menu. We got the whole shebang and hot for spiciness. Crawfish is small to begin with so I was mainly focused on the sauce, which was awesome! The shrimp were pretty big and juicy, and surprisingly the snow crab legs had a good amount of meat in them. Their sausage and corn taste nice with the hot sauce.
Great service and attentive staff. The location of the restaurant is also convenient to where I live. Will be visiting again in the future.
I've been dreaming of those gator bites from three months ago.
The crawfish was tasty too, I liked the variety of sauces, especially the hot one.
This is a great lively place for groups. The last crawfish place I went to was in Hot N Juicy in Adams Morgan, but this space is definitely more spacious and better for larger groups in a cleaner atmosphere. This friendly service from the host, to the waiter, to the other waiter that helped us fix our order, made the experience even more enjoyable. crawfish + gator bites FTW.
What does it take to get some service around here!!?? Â "Oh". Â Literally, the guy that saved this place from getting a 2-star goes by the name, "Oh" or "O". Â Actually, if HE was our server, I would give this place 4-stars. Â
Our server on the other hand.... Â I kept forgetting what he looked like because he was NEVER there. Â My friend asked for a honey mustard to go with his chicken tenders. Â The guy shows up with the honey mustard after my friend declared he's finished his meal..... Â that was super useful because NOW my friend can eat his honey mustard alone.
I waited around for 15 minutes for him to come by so I could order my daughter something small. Â Finally another friendly server smiled and asked if I needed anything. Â I tried to order the red beans and rice but the second server came back and apologized and said they were out. Â That wasn't a big deal, I would have gladly ordered something else for her but he insisted on giving me half off anything else I got. Â That was really nice and unexpected! Â
My sister and her boyfriend ordered additional food to take home and they were waiting around forever to ask for their crawfish to be double bagged and extra bibs. We ended up asking "O" who smiled and got it right away!
Our server gave us our checks but I asked why mine wasn't discounted. Â He looked at the mac and cheese on the table and pointed at it and asked "um did I get this for you? I don't remember getting this". Â I thought, "Yeah, that's because YOU WERE NEVER AROUND TO GET IT FOR ME!?" Â Seriously?
Service to me is almost more important than food itself, so if O wasn't there, I'd never come back here. But I am 100% willing to come back and try this place again as long as I don't get the first server. Â Wish I got his name...
Now, on to the food. Â 11 bucks for 1 lb of crawfish wasn't enough for me, medium was spicy but was mild to me but that's fine since I had my daughter and she was able to tolerate it. Â It was actually pretty perfect. Â Crawfish were good size although I'm sure this has to do with season, it comes with a potato and corn on the cob that's cooked into the sauce. Get the SheBang which is all three different sauces mixed (garlic butter, original cajun and lemon pepper). Â It's super tasty and flavorful. Â It tasted similar to "Hot N Juicy" but their medium is milder than "Hot N Juicy". Â
Crawfish Mac N Cheese were good and my daughter really liked it. Â Chicken tenders were excellent, very crispy and flat. Â Fries were crispy and flavorful. Â
Next time I come back I'll make sure to get ANY OTHER server and try the $49 deal called "The Bayou deal" Â that comes with 1 lb crawfish, 1 lb mussels, 1 lb clams, 1/2 shrimp, 1/2 snow crab legs, Â 2 pcs corn, 2 pc potatoses and 1/2 lb sausages between Monday-Thursday. Â
Oh forgot, as I was leaving, we heard a table tell our server how unsatisfied they were with his service. Â
I really hope I can re-review this place because it has plenty of potential.
