Chicago River Cafe

I think this place is awesome.

They have a giant beer selection to suit any taste bud.

The service you receive her is like you are one of the family.

The location rocks and you have a perfect view of Chicago river and it's passer-bys.

I have stopped here on my bike and have enjoyed my time here.

I will be back.

A decent place in a great location, with a couple of things holding it back. I had their lunch prix fix, which isn't a bad deal at $15.  I started with the cucumber gazpacho, which was simply delicious. Next, I chose the salmon club--deconstructed. It was sections of pita, sour cream, onion, capers, pickles, and a lot of smoked salmon.  Pretty good, but why on earth would anyone put pickles on a ton of smoked salmon is beyond me. The desserts were, however, terrible. The carrot cake, brownie, and lemon bar were not good at all, and I suggest staying away from them. But on a sunny day, the cafe is a great place to eat al fresco.

Finally, a neighborhood place locates Downtown. Little Bucharest, a long-time staple on the North Side, now has a little sandwich shop on the Chicago Riverwalk. Today, I ate a delicious ham sandwich, covered with smoked bacon, spring greens and apple butter. One of the few ham sandwiches I've ever had Downtown that isn't some sort of faux processed meat. Also available are turkey, clubs, BLTs, burgers, chicken schnizel and cevapici sausage along with some interesting salads. My ham sandwich, chips and a diet coke cost 12 bucks that included tip because of the table service. While this is a little more than I like to spend for lunch, I'll write off the extra cost for the terrific setting right on the river. Chicago River Cafe is an excellent new lunch option.
